A New Jersey family is considering legal action after their home was raided by authorities responding to a Facebook photo of their son posing with a firearm.

Four local police officers and two officials from the New Jersey Dept. of Children and Families showed up at the Carneys Point, N.J., home of Shawn Moore.

The officials demanded to see the homeowners’ guns.

Facebook Photo Raid

This all started when Moore, a firearms instructor, posted a photo of his 11-year-old son holding a rifle (legally owned, above) on Facebook Tuesday.

Jada Pinkett Smith has come to the defense of a couple young A-listers.

With Justin Bieber hearing it these days - following a pot smoking controversy, a blow up at a photographer and more - Smith penned a Facebook post that didn't mention any star by name.

But whose subject matter was obvious to any celebrity gossip follower.

"It is as if we have forgotten what it means to be young or even how to behave like good ol' grown folk," the actress wrote on Sunday.

"Do we feel as though we can say and do what we please without demonstrating any responsibility simply because they are famous?

Social networks are built on the language of "likes" and positivity.

Until now, thanks to the Hater App developed by Jake Banks.

He decided to develop an alternative app - intended for sharing the things you don't like - because he feels Facebook et al. restrict us from being ourselves.

"It's really an answer to everything out there. All you can do is 'like' things," Banks told Mashable. "I don't want to be the guy pretending to be someone I'm not."

"I want to be real and say, 'I'm sitting in traffic and I hate this.'"

While you can post a comment like that anywhere, Banks says a "dedicated community" for dislikes frees up users to re-think the content they share.

Facebook's big announcement today involved the unveiling of a customized Facebook search engine called Graph Search. So what is this thing's deal?

“It’s about graphing our part of the web.”

Kelly Hildebrandt and Kelly Hildebrandt, the Facebook couple who met, fell in love and got married all because they have the same name, are getting divorced.

Kelly Hildebrandt Photo

The pair with matching names made news when they tied the knot in 2009. But both Kelly Hildebrandts came to realize that sharing a name wasn't enough.

“She’s a Florida girl, and I’m a Texas guy,” Kelly Carl Hildebrandt (the guy) told Miami news station NBC 6. “We really did come from pretty different worlds.”

The romance started in the same world: Facebook.

Suspended for a Facebook post? Believe it, as an eighth-grade student in Vietnam learned the hard way after posting a parody of a speech by Ho Chi Minh.

In the same week that an activist was jailed for insulting Kuwait’s leader on Twitter, Nguyen Thanh Vy, 14, was suspended from school in Hanoi for a Facebook post.

School principal Nguyen Tan Si said the parody of the revolutionary leader's speech, in December, “had criticized the first term exam and insulted the teachers.”

Mark Zuckerberg's sister Randi accidentally shared a private family photo, apparently confused by or unable to grasp Facebook's privacy settings.

How's that for the definition of irony?

Zuckerberg Family Photo

Randi Zuckerberg, the former head of marketing for Facebook and the executive producer of Bravo's reality series Silicon Valley, posted the above photo on Facebook.

The candid family picture is of Randi and her family (including sister Arielle Zuckerberg and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg) reacting to the new Poke app.

The problem arose when Callie Schweitzer, director of marketing and projects at VoxMedia, saw the photo on Facebook, but posted it publicly on Twitter.

“I am a victim,” Ryan Lanza, the 24-year-old brother of Newtown killer Adam Lanza, supposedly told the New York Post yesterday in a Facebook chat.

“I loss [sic] my mom and brother.”

However, a spokesman for the family blames an imposter for hacking Ryan's Facebook page and says Ryan did not post the messages in this story.

In a Facebook photo tribute, Ryan Lanza appeared to have shared a smiling image of his younger brother, Adam Lanza, smiling. “R.I.P.,” he wrote.

Facebook is testing a service that will charge users $1 to guarantee that messages they send to people they are not friends with arrive in users' inboxes.

Facebook Crew

Launched in 2011, the oft-ignored "other" folder is where FB routes messages it deems less relevant. The $1 fee would re-route them to the inbox.

Not quite spam, these include messages from people you most likely don't know, based on FB's reading of your connections. Many users ignore this folder.

Now, users will be able to pay $1 to sent messages to non-friends.

A slew of recently announced changes to Instagram's terms and conditions have sent celebrities and regular folks alike running for the virtual exits.

Instagram, which was bought by Facebook earlier this year, is under heavy scrutiny for its new usage agreement ... in which users sign over everything.

Rihanna Pantsless
