Not all couples can be Brangelina or Bennifer.

Heck, most couples can't be Brangelina or Bennifer.

It's rare for two sides of a pairing to be equal in terms of hotness, but some mismatched twosomes stand out more than others.

Did you know that neither James Bond nor Wolverine are married to supermodels, for example?

So, in our continuing series of surprising celebrity couples, we present 9 stars who definitely married down in the looks department. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Usher and Tameka Foster
Usher fans felt he settled when he married Tameka Foster. With the passage of time and a divorce under the belt, he might agree.

It's early, but the much-anticipated Pitch Perfect sequel is already hitting the right notes.

That's because it has tapped THG favorite Elizabeth Banks as director: the hilarious actress is set to get behind the camera for the first time in order to bring this musical follow-up to life.

Elizabeth Banks is very excited to be a mother for the second time.

The actress and husband Max Handelman have welcomed their second child (both via gestational surrogate), a boy named Magnus Mitchell.

"This experience has exceeded all expectations, taught us a great deal about generosity and gratitude, and established a relationship that will last a lifetime," Banks wrote on her website. "I am also so very thankful to our family and friends for their support throughout this process, as well as the Center for Surrogate Parenting for helping make all this possible.”

The Hunger Games star and Max already have one-year-old son, Felix.

“I now turn my attention to managing two boys under two," Banks concluded. "For which I am thankful. And all their poop. For which I am less thankful. Wish me luck.”

Elizabeth Banks is doing her part to help President Obama's 2012 reelection bid, extolling the virtues of Planned Parenthood in a new campaign ad.

The 38-year-old Hunger Games actress released a new video praising Obama and Planned Parenthood, while sharing some very personal anecdotes.

Watch the campaign spot below and see what you think:

"Planned Parenthood was my healthcare provider when I didn't have insurance after graduating from college," she says, before delving into detail.

"Yes, I got birth control but it was for massive migraine headaches and my heavy flow," Banks admits. "Yeah, I'm on record saying I had a heavy flow."

"And, unfortunately, these are the things I don't want to discuss with employers."

The actress points out that Obama's opponent, Republican Mitt Romney, has said he would cut off federal funding to Planned Parenthood.

She argues that "95%" of Planned Parenthood's services are not controversial, yet it's become a lightning rod for political controversy.

"For that little 5% that Mitt Romney decides he doesn't agree with, he's going to take away cancer screenings. What is he doing?" she asks.

"He's going to take away people's access to health care close by ... We're talking about working-class ladies who need health care."

"President Obama has not compromised on women's rights," she says, "And that's why President Obama needs to stay in office."

Who do you want to win the 2012 election?

They may not be the main stars of The Hunger Games, but Elizabeth Banks and Leven Rambin will play key roles in this wildly anticipated blockbuster nonetheless, gracing the big screen as Effie and Glimmer, respectively.

And they both looked darn good at last night's Nokia Theatre premiere.

Forgive us for a moment, but: EEEEK!!!!!

Okay, sorry. We're back.

But Lionsgate has released its first official promotional photo of Elizabeth Banks in the key Hunger Games role of Effie Trinket and it's safe to say we're a tad bit excited over it.

Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket

"A fun part of being an actor and a chameleon is taking on those looks," Banks told The Huffington Post of the transformation into this Capitol spokesperson. "Effie has a really theatrical, over-the-top, completely not me look to her. I'm very excited for people to see my portrayal. I have no idea if people are going to be into it. I hope they are."

The Hunger Games trailer, of course, has already been released; while the film comes out on March 23.

A pair of THG favorites are about to hit the big screen together, as Paul Rudd and Elizabeth Banks anchor the cast of Our Idiot Brother, which comes out on Friday.

The title pretty much makes it clear, but the film centers around Rudd's Ned, the runt of a beautiful litter that includes sisters played by Banks, Emily Mortimer and Zooey Deschanel. The former told Movie Fanatic that she can relate to the concept:

"I am the oldest, bossiest daughter of a family of four... I have a 26-year-old brother who sells pizza and maybe something else while delivering those pizzas."

Rudd, meanwhile, said he could relate to one aspect of the film in particular: playing charades.

"Despite all of the battling and fighting, we come together," the actor said. "It was such an emotionally charged moment and scene. It was kind of heartbreaking, because at different points we all sometimes - as hard as you can be - you just want to play charades with your family, but you’re unable to."

It's official. Elizabeth Banks is joining the film adaptation of The Hunger Games along with the likes of Liam Hemsworth, Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson.

The 40-Year-Old Virgin actress, 37, broke the news on Twitter. Banks writes:

"I can now confirm I'm EFFIE TRINKET in The Hunger Games. So excited!"

The rumor of Elizabeth's casting surfaced earlier in April, but was not confirmed until now. The film, based on the best-selling novel, is getting huge buzz.

As for Banks' character?

Always on time, Effie is very strict about manners. But despite a seemingly serious demeanor, she has bright pink hair. Think Banks is a good pick for the role?
