Elisabeth Hasselbeck Sued For Yoinking Book Idea

The View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck usually sparks controversy with her conservative opinions, or by condemning Michael Phelps, baby killers, etc.

Now the 32-year-old lightning rod is branching out.

Self-published author Susan Hassett of Falmouth, Mass., states in a federal lawsuit filed in Boston that the TV blabbermouth infringed on her copyright by publishing her book on Celiac Disease, The G-Free Diet: A Gluten-Free Survival Guide.

Publicists for ABC and Hasselbeck's publisher, Hachette Book Group, could not be reached for comment by the Boston Herald, which reported the story.

Hasselbeck, who is pregnant with her third child, suffers from Celiac Disease, which damages one's small intestine and interferes with nutrient absorption.

The talk show host, who's been married to former football star Tim Hasselbeck for years, first learned she had the disorder after appearing on Survivor.

As a result, she cannot cannot eat gluten (found in wheat, rye and barley).

Whether Elisabeth Hasselbeck must now eat a large settlement of money after stealing an idea for her book? That is likely for a judge to decide.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck Calls Out Ashley Judd, Baby Killers Everywhere

The View weighed in this morning on the brewing, hilarious feud between Ashley Judd and Sarah Palin.

After showing their audience the video of Judd calling out Palin for her pro-wolf killing initiatives, the ladies discussed whether or not the actress had a legitimate beef with the former Vice Presidential candidate.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck seemed sympathetic to the cause at first... only to then question how Judd can take issue with the slaughter of wolves, considering how the pro-choice star is clearly fine with the killing of over 200,000 babies each year via abortion.

This might seem like a non-sequitor to some; but Hasselbeck apparently believes that anyone on the side of Roe vs. Wade can't possibly care about the sanctity of any life.

Watch the clip below:

The View on Ashley Judd vs. Sarah Palin

On Monday, Hasselbeck said Michael Phelps' marijuna use left open the issue of whether or not he also used steroids. She's had quite the week.

When Elisabeth Hasselbeck Attacks: A Conservative Condemnation of Michael Phelps

Elisabeth Hasselbeck is someone that campaigned vehemently on behalf of Sarah Palin.

Therefore, her opinion has been tainted forever.

Still, we can't help but comment on the condemnation this talk show host laid at the feet of Olympic champion Michael Phelps this morning on The View.

In response to the shocking news that a 23-year old smokes pot, Hasselbeck said Phelps is "being paid millions to be an example [to youth]," actually adding that if he's willing to "take a drug that could impede his performance, would he be open to taking a drug that would enhance his performance?"

The View HostMichael Phelps Shirtless

It's challenging to keep track of all that's misguided about that question, but we'll try:

  • Phelps is not being paid millions of dollars to be an example to anyone; he's being paid millions of dollars to sell products. Is Hasselbeck implying that Phelps' status as a role model would be different if he weren't a Nike pitchman?
  • Marijuana has never been proven to be any more dangerous than alcohol. Would Hasselbeck have had anything to say if Phelps were doing a keg stand? Or smoking a cigarette? If the issue is legality, what if he had received a speeding ticket? (Racecar driver Danica Patrick has received multiple citations for speeding; where is Hasselbeck's outrage over that?)
  • The actions of Phelps are not impeding any performance; he's gone on record, numerous times, as saying he's taking months off from training. The 2012 Olympics? They're in 2012!
  • Equating marijuana to steroids is like equating beer to Viagra. One impedes a performance, the other enhances it. They also have nothing to do with one another.

Phelps has apologized for his behavior, which was the first blip on what's been a stellar, patriotic career in the spotlight.

Do you think he deserves to have his integrity questioned by Hasselbeck? Let us know if you think her comments were...

Elisabeth Hasselbeck: Pregnant!

America's favorite hot conservative pundit, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, is pregnant with her third child, she is set to announce Thursday morning on The View.

The 31-year-old Elisabeth and her husband, Tim Hasselbeck, 30, are already the proud parents of 3-year-old daughter Grace, and son Taylor Thomas, who just celebrated his first birthday November 9. Congratulations to the happy couple!

Tim Hasselbeck, Elisabeth Hasselbeck

Tim Hasselbeck is an ESPN football analyst and former professional quarterback for the New York Giants, Washington Redskins, Philadelphia Eagles, and Buffalo Bills.

His only in-game action since 2003 consisted of two kneel-downs, which the NFL counts statistically as rushing attempts. Therefore, his career with the Giants totaled -3 rushing yards. On September 1, 2007, he was released by New York.

He never made it as a pro QB, but at least he gets to line up under center with his favorite receiver / tight end at home. If you know what we mean!

T.H. Gossip Presents: The Biggest Turkeys of 2008

What would this traditional American holiday be without family, food, football and reflection upon the things we appreciate the most in life - in our case, some of the biggest turkeys we've had the privilege of covering this year.

With that said, we present our Top 10 Turkeys of 2008 ...

10. John Mayer. A douchebag 364 days a year. Honorary poultry today.

9. Britney Spears. Last year's top turkey falls to #9 by virtue of calming the hell down from February on. The first month of 2008 alone, though? Wow.

8. Miley Cyrus. Anyone who goes topless for Vanity Fair at age 15 and/or celebrates their birthday four months in advance automatically makes the list.

7. Courtenay Semel. She's far from the first E-list celebrity go to great lengths for publicity. Pretending to be a lesbian sets the bar pretty low, though.

6. Adrienne Bailon. Being dumb enough to take nude pics and let them get stolen is one thing. Staging the entire stunt with your loser publicist? Pathetic.

5. Ashlee Simpson. The zenith of uselessness to begin with, Jessica's l'il sis went and named her kid Bronx Mowgli. Just a "fowl" move all around.

4. (Tie) Sarah Palin, for this heartwarming Thanksgiving video, and her #1 fan Elisabeth Hasselbeck, 'cause no turkey gets ruffles feathers quite like her.

3. Alex Rodriguez. Months without a clutch hit. Railing strippers. Divorcing Cynthia Rodriguez. Referring to Madonna his "f*%king soulmate, dude." Gobble, gobble.

2. Eliot Spitzer. The Governor of New York State apparently thought it was worth his job and marriage to give call girl Ashley Dupre a good "stuffing." Har har.

1. Spencer Pratt. The villain you love to hate from The Hills capped off a hilarious year by eloping with Heidi Montag. Say what you will about him, Spencer plays the celebrity gossip game to perfection, 24/7/365. And we love him for it.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck Actually Happy For Obama

Although she fiercely supported Sen. John McCain, Elisabeth Hasselbeck isn't outraged that Democratic Sen. Barack Obama was elected president last night.

On Wednesday's episode of The View, Elisabeth recalled how her daughter Grace asked who lost the election - and her response was rather heartwarming.

"No one lost today, and God knows I fought hard on the other side," Hasselbeck said. "Today is a victory for this country. The first black president. The first black first lady. The first black family. I haven't felt this good..."

Added Joy Behar (who nearly murdered sparred verbally on a frequent basis with Hasselbeck during the campaign): "Are you saying I was right all along?"

Smiling, Hasselbeck and Behar exchanged a fist bump. Wow. To paraphrase one of many memorable The Office quotes: Congratulations, universe, you win.

The Elisabeth Hasselbeck Political Timeline

Who knew that one of our most impassioned political orators would come from daytime TV? Love her or hate her, Elisabeth Hasselbeck of The View has used her daily airtime to speak at length about her support of Sen. John McCain.

Hasselbeck's fiery rhetoric has become so prevalent, it even sparked several rumors that she might ditch Joy Behar & Co. for a job at Fox News.

She's shot down those rumors for now, but there's little doubt that her profile rises with each passing day. Here's a look at the past week-plus:

Oct. 20: The View co-hosts Hasselbeck, Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar spar about Gov. Sarah Palin's perceived snub of not appearing on the show.

Oct. 21: Hasselbeck wears a T-shirt that she designed on The View that reads "AmeriMcCain Hero." Political implications aside, it's just confusing.

Oct. 22: Barbara Walters asks if Hasselbeck and Behar ever see eye-to-eye on political issues. Elisabeth Hasselbeck says that's possible since she once considered voting for Obama. Behar calls her "delusional." Hasselbeck bristles at being called a liar, and fires back that Joy should go have "more of the Barack Obama Kool-Aid."

Oct. 23: Celeb news sites report that Behar told Hasselbeck she is making a fool of herself, and that the two are bitterly fighting behind the scenes.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck-Joy Behar Feud Escalates

Producers of The View are trying to douse recent reports that two of the popular talk show's pundits - conservative Elisabeth Hasselbeck and left-leaning Joy Behar - are in the midst of a feud so bitter they are no longer speaking.

The Chicago Sun-Times saysthe animosity between the two - who get into animated on-air debates about the presidential election almost daily - "has gotten so ugly, they only speak on air or when a camera is in their vicinity."

The paper also reports that Behar did "a vicious impression" of Elisabeth Hasselbeck's campaign appearance with Gov. Sarah Palin this past weekend.

This followed one of several bitter clashes last week - during which Hasselbeck claimed she is open-minded and considered voting for Obama, prompting Behar to fire back, "Oh, come on! That's like saying I could have voted for George Bush."

"Are you calling me a liar, Joy?" snapped Hasselbeck, lifting her coffee cup and shoving it toward Behar. "You want some more Barack Obama Kool-Aid or what?"
