Kirsten Haglund was crowned Miss America back in 2008, but she was hardly the vision of health and happiness she appeared to be, by her own admission.

The blonde beauty has suffered from severe anorexia-nervosa most of her life.

The Michigan native, 23, has opened up to CNN about the shocking details of her illness, which she says began to take its toll when she was only 12.

Haglund says she picked up bad habits from other aspiring ballet dancers.

"I was in ballet from just 3-years-old. So from a very early age, the ideal female body type was very thin," Haglund says. "That was the first image I had."

"I always equated beauty with being skinny. I looked at what they were doing and so many of them were throwing away their lunches and not eating."

"I thought, ‘If I can at least be thin, I know I can be successful at ballet.’"

"I was living off coffee, Diet Coke and gum," she said about her diet. "Every once in a while, I'd have vegetables, fruit or a spoonful of peanut butter."

“I knew there was something wrong , but I didn't know how to stop.”

Angelina Jolie is shedding pounds like a madman, according to a new tabloid report, and unlike many anorexic, waifish celebs, it has zero to do with vanity.

It's all about making a political statement, says a source.

The 36-year-old U.N. goodwill ambassador, who travels the globe meeting the poor, "puts herself on fasts to make statements for the children she visits."

"She says, 'If they can't eat, I can't eat,'" the source adds. "She does different cleanses from around the world. It's very dramatic, but that's how she is."

Angelina Jolie: Wasting away to nothing?

The actress, currently promoting her directorial debut, In the Land of Blood and Honey, has Brad Pitt worried about her health, according to other insiders.

"He's worried about her and has made her see a zillion doctors," the alleged experts say, but despite the concerns of some, "they just tell her she's fine."

So ... is she really starving herself in that case?

Probably not. But she can't hide the fact that she's looking thinner these days ... and she certainly can't hide the crazy, according to made-up nannies.

Are the Ali Lohan plastic surgery rumors true? Difficult to say. Has she lost weight? One self-proclaimed expert says that totally happened - in horrifying fashion!

A "leading nutrition expert" (the kind quoted by Radar Online) estimates that Ali’s weight PLUMMETED to a gaunt, anemic, borderline waifish 95 lbs. lately.

Judging by Ali Lohan pictures like this, he could be right:

Kate Middleton is anorexic and with child, according to Star.

That last part should tell you everything you need to know. By anorexic and pregnant, what the tabloid means is she is not pregnant and/or sickly.

Apparently sources close to the Duchess say that she's "gone from fit and toned to gaunt and bony" and the whole thing is just "horrifying." Gosh.

Dr. Fred Pescatore, who has no connection to her at all, notes that "Kate looks to weigh from 95 to 100 lbs. That makes her seriously underweight."

At 5'10", a weight of 100 pounds would put her BMI as "severely underweight" or, to put it another way, not able to function and possibly not alive.

So Kate Middleton is pregnant and dying. Thanks Star!

In reality, she's probably just thin. Not starving to be sexy or ready to collapse due to exhaustion or severe malnourishment at any given moment.

Nor is she carrying any future kings or queens. Although now that she's married and settling down, you have to wonder when she'll get pregnant.

Jersey Shore star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi has no trouble eating nowadays. If there are pickles around late night, watch out! But just a few years ago, she was anorexic.

She actually battled both anorexia and bulimia as she tried to maintain a small size for the cheerleading squad. This was serious stuff and extremely unhealthy for her.

“It started when I was a junior [in high school],” Snooki explains to OK! Magazine. “The reason I did it is because I was very self-consicous about cheerleading."

Insecure Snooki says it happened because "There were these little freshman girls ... I was scared that these little freshman girls were going to take my spot.”

“I just started eating salads and salads,” she tells OK!. “But then I got to a point where I was just eating a cracker a day. And I was down to just 80 pounds.”

Fortunately, she's turned things around since then. As for her obsessions with tanning booths, daytime drunkenness and promiscuity, we've got work to do.

Ali Fedotowsky wants to "crash diet" after gaining a staggering 15 pounds during and after filming The Bachelorette, according to the new issue of Us Weekly.

Either it's a really slow week at Us Weekly, or Ali has an eating disorder and/or severely low self-esteem, because ... well, have you seen her? She's so cute!

Still, "They'd retape scenes, so all she did was eat and drink," a show insider explains. After the show wrapped, "she binged while unwinding with her family."

We're not sure what's more shocking, that Ali Fedotowsky thinks she needs to lose weight, or that they re-tape scenes on The Bachelorette ... no effing way.

We feel like we've been kicked in the stomach, then again in the groin.

According to the celebrity gossip tabloid, after she saw her fuller figure on the ABC series' premiere, the 25-year-old was inspired to get back into shape.

"It's been stressful watching herself," a source says of the Facebook ad rep. "She's a size 6 and not meant to be super tiny, but she wants to lose weight."

Her plan - Bachelorette spoilers alert! - a high protein diet of egg whites, calorie counting and daily runs. Not exactly anorexic/bulimic behavior, at least.

Still, is it necessary? Could the rumors that she's still single and picks no one on the season finale be playing a role in this somehow? We're quite curious.

"I'm not sure if she's lost anything yet," says the pal. "But she's trying!"

She nearly collapsed on stage in March and had to cancel several shows earlier this year citing exhaustion. Her latest health scare - lupus - is even more alarming.

Is Lady Gaga on the verge of a physical breakdown?

"I'm very connected to my aunt, Joanne, who died of lupus," the pop star tells The Times of London, adding that she's been tested. "It's a very personal thing."

Gaga did not elaborate, but doesn't "want anyone to be worried" about the disease, in which the immune system attacks the body and which can be genetic.

"I have heart palpitations and things. But it's okay. It's just from fatigue and other things," the singer, who said she fainted during her New Zealand concert.

Hey, at least the amputated leg rumors are false ... right?

Her most recent health emergency: "The other day," Gaga said.

In Tokyo, where she was "having trouble breathing," the accused Christina Aguilera copycat was fine after receiving "a little oxygen" and went back on stage.

"I was okay," she says, adding: "I don't want anyone to worry."

Too late, girl. Too late.

As for buzz about her thin body, Gaga insists she doesn't "have an eating problem," but has a busy schedule that doesn't allow "very much time to eat."

Is that not an eating problem then? "I really don't do drugs. I don't touch cocaine any more. I don't smoke," she says. "I do take care of myself."

But much like the Lady Gaga hermaphrodite rumors, don't expect a break anytime soon. She's been touring so relentlessly, it's not even funny.

"People say I should take a break," says the singer. "But I'm like, 'Why should I take a break? What do you want me to do? Go on vacation?"

You know Nicole Polizzi as Snooki from MTV's hit show Jersey Shore. People in Poughkeepsie used to know her as the fake-tanned, 80-pound girl.

After The Situation mocked Snooki's "rolls" on the show last week, he hit close to home. She tearfully announced she once had an eating disorder.

"In high school, I really wouldn't eat," Nicole Polizzi revealed on The Insider on Tuesday. "I would only have lunch, and I would only have salads."

"It got so crazy that I would only eat a cracker or a cucumber a day and I would feel full. I would go into the nurses office every day and I would weigh myself. When she [the school nurse] realized that I hit 80 pounds, she was like, 'This isn't good.'"

Luckily for her, the nurse notified Snookers' parents.

"My parents told me, 'You need to eat, this is dangerous,'" says Snooki, who is 4-foot-9. "So I gained my weight back to like 98, where I always was."

On Friday, The Situation (a.k.a. Mike Sorrentino) said that he felt bad after mocking his co-star while they were dining out together in Atlantic City.

"I regret saying it because I have a sister and a mother, but at the same time, everything happened so quickly and that is what happened," he said.

You know how it goes. The Situation quotes just happen so fast. That's nice that he apologized, though, and we're glad Snookems is healthy now.

Well, minus that hair.

As mottos go, "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels," a Kate Moss quote from her interview with Women's Wear Daily, would be a great one for bulimiaworld.com.

In any case, Kate has been assailed by eating disorder groups for her "dangerous" viewpoint, who say that philosophy is what drives girls to starve themselves.

"Comments like this make it even more difficult for young people struggling with an eating disorder," said Mary George, a rep of a British eating disorder charity, Beat.

"She doesn't realize how dangerous such comments can be."

Model Katie Green also considered her statement "shocking and irresponsible," especially because Moss herself has a seven-year-old daughter, Lila Grace.

Is Kate Moss pro-eating disorder?

She's got a point. When people search for Kate Moss nude, do they want to see her before or after her hard ass drug use and anti-food days? Think about it.

"Kate is a mother herself and how would parents with children suffering from eating disorders feel reading something like this?" said Green. "[Kate] should really have thought before she spoke like most of us do before giving interviews."

Kate Moss' modeling agency, Storm, said her words were misconstrued.

"This was part of a longer answer Kate gave during a wider-ranging interview, which has been taken out of context and completely misrepresented," the agency said. "For the record, Kate does not support this as a lifestyle choice."

She's even eating occasionally these days, sparking pregnancy rumors.

In an exclusive interview with WooMeTV, Stephanie Pratt of The Hills took a break from her busy schedule of being annoying and doing nothing to come clean to fans (which apparently she has) about her experience with the "master cleanse" diet.

We'd sum it up for you, but Stephanie, who recently opened up about battling bulimia on the cover of Us Weekly, is just so painful to listen to that we sort of tuned out 30 or 40 seconds in. Sorry. We can only endure so much punishment.
