DJ AM Death Ruled an Accident

DJ AM did not commit suicide.

A New York City medical examiner has determined the cause of death for Adam Goldstein, who was found dead in his apartment in late August, to be an accidental overdose.

According to the medical examiner, the technical reason DJ AM passed away was due to "acute intoxication, caused by the combined effects of so many drugs in his system. These included: cocaine, oxycodone, Vicodin, Ativan, Klonopin, Xanax, Benadryl and Levamisole.

The manner of death is listed on the official report as "accident (substance abuse)."

DJ AM Tribute Video Brings Back Memories

The video put together by fellow spinsters for DJ AM's memorial service, held at The Paladium in Hollywood on September 3, is definitely worth watching.

After watching the DJ AM tribute video, his good friend Travis Barker got on his Twitter page and wrote this message about the late Adam Goldstein:

"This vid makes me smile from ear 2 ear and tear at the same time, miss u homie."

That sums it up well. Here's the tribute video, which is signed by its creators with the simple message, "RIP to a great friend and the greatest DJ" ...

Family, Friends Bid Final Farewell to DJ AM

A day after Adam Goldstein, a.k.a. DJ AM, was laid to rest, the celebrity spinster was remembered last night by former fiancée Nicole Richie and friends such as Lindsay Lohan, Samantha Ronson, Eric Dane and Rebecca Gayheart, and more.

They were among hundreds of invited guests and a handful of fans who attended the memorial at the Hollywood Palladium, not far from the nightclubs where DJ AM made his name and gained his fame at the turntables.

Also in attendance was his last girlfriend.

"He was my soulmate and now he is my soul," model Haley Wood, who dated Goldstein up until his death, told the crowd during the 2 1/2-hour memorial service.

"He is my amazing grace."

The DJ of the AM

Adam Goldstein (DJ AM) was found dead August 28 at age 36.

The cause of death hasn’t been determined, but law enforcement sources say that the star, who had battled addiction, had OxyContin pills in his body and left evidence he was smoking crack in a one-time relapse that proved fatal.

Authorities are unclear on whether his death was a suicide or an accidental overdose, but it looks highly possible that AM wanted to take his life.

It was a sad day in Hollywood, with Michael Jackson's funeral also taking place. Our hearts go out to the family and friends of MJ - and DJ AM.

DJ AM Laid to Rest in L.A.

Six days after his death, celebrity spinmaster DJ AM was laid to rest in a private ceremony Wednesday at Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary in L.A.

The funeral service honoring the DJ (a.k.a. Adam Goldstein), who died last week of an apparent drug overdose, was attended by family and friends.

Ocean's 11 star Scott Caan and DJ Jazzy Jeff were on hand, along with his girlfriend Haley Wood (pictured), Nicole Richie, and Joel and Benji Madden.

DJ AM's close pal Travis Barker (also pictured) was present as well:

The Blink-182 drummer - wearing dark sunglasses and a pin-striped suit with slick-backed hair - paid his respects and threw dirt on the coffin.

The service was held in the mortuary and then moved outside around 4 p.m.

A procession of cars followed the hearse to the back of one of L.A.'s most prominent Jewish cemeteries for the somber burial, which lasted 15 minutes.

A memorial for the DJ AM, who was 36, is also set for Thursday.

The event will take place at the Hollywood Palladium at 7 p.m., and "the format of the evening will be in the style of an open 12-step meeting."

"Adam's friends both from his life in recovery, as well as those from other areas of his life, are welcome," the invitation reads.

DJ AM Overdosed on OxyContin, Likely on Purpose; Hayley Wood Denies Breakup

Authorities initially said DJ AM's death was not a suicide, but this recent revelation may change that - eight undigested OxyContin pills were found in his stomach and a ninth in his mouth, a law enforcement source is quoted as saying.

The finding suggests that DJ AM, a.k.a. Adam Goldstein, swallowed the powerful painkillers quickly, trying to OD, and that it wasn't an accidental overdose.

AM, 36, "wanted to die," says the source, who believes it was a suicide. "He was going unconscious when he took the last one. He didn't even swallow it."

In addition to OxyContin, authorities who entered Goldstein's NYC apartment August 28 found a Valentine's Day card in the next room from Hayley Wood.

Also, a mirror was propped against the outside of the apartment and another against the door of the bedroom, where Goldstein's body was located in bed.

When the police, DJ AM's manager and paramedics entered the bedroom, the mirror propped against the door shattered: "They pushed it open and it broke."

A crack pipe sat next to the body of DJ AM, and when authorities moved the body, crack was found underneath, the source says. Goldstein, the insider believes, "smoked a lot of crack, barricaded the doors and killed himself."

Official autopsy results, including toxicology tests, have not been released, and some close to Goldstein say still they believe his death to be accidental.

Two weeks before DJ AM was found dead, he and Hayley Wood, 22, split after a year together, according to multiple news sources. But Wood denies that this sparked his relapse, and that they even broke up, saying in a statement:

"Any indication that this tragic accident happened [to Adam] because of a rumored breakup is not only untrue but disgusting. We were very much together at the time of his passing, and I love him very much."

More information to come as the story develops ...

Source: DJ AM Death a Result of Accidental Overdose, Not Suicide

The death of DJ AM was the result of an accidental drug overdose and not a suicide, according to law enforcement sources, and it stems from a tragic source.

A recovering addict, the 36-year-old celebrity DJ developed a dependency to Xanax and other benzodiazepines (drugs used to treat anxiety) as a result of the plane crash he and Travis Barker famously (and miraculously) survived a year ago.

DJ AM understandably developed major anxiety over flying - something he had to do frequently for his job. Doctors began prescribing Xanax and other anti-anxiety medications to help him, but the drugs triggered a relapse into addiction.

Benzodiazepines are particularly dicey for recovering addicts, and sources say DJ AM's relapse was "recent" - he was not abusing for a prolonged period.

People close to the case also say that his death had "absolutely nothing to do with his recent breakup" with Hayley Wood, which has been speculated.

As of right now, evidence strongly indicates that the cause of DJ AM's death Friday afternoon will be a mixture of crack cocaine and benzodiazepines.

AM recently said that when he was an addict, crack was his drug of choice.

It's a shame that his addiction, which he kept at bay for 11 years, reared its ugly head again and claimed the life of someone so widely respected and liked.

The DJ AM Drug of Choice: Crack

Listening to DJ AM talk about crack being his "drug of choice" is downright chilling, but in a recent interview with MTV News to promote his upcoming reality show about drug abuse (Gone Too Far), the late Adam Goldstein said exactly that.

DJ AM talked described how he bought a crack pipe to show how easy it is. The 36-year-old said, "I bought a crack pipe ... that was my drug of choice."

"And I walked out and I'm holding it," he said.

"And I realized after I was holding it that my palms were sweaty and I was like, 'Wait a minute, this is not smart for me to be holding this right now.'"

He recently signed on to do the MTV reality show Gone Too Far, about getting users off drugs, and while filming the show he held the crack pipe for the first time in years, but said that a guardian angel was looking after him.

DJ AM was found dead in his apartment Friday night of an apparent drug overdose. A law enforcement source said a bag of crack was found by his body.

No one knows for sure, but he was said to be upset over a recent breakup with girlfriend Hayley Wood. He was last heard from around 1 a.m. Friday.

Goldstein, who often talked openly and honestly about his myriad past struggles with drug abuse, claimed he was off drugs for more than 11 years.

On Saturday, the New York City Medical Examiner's office announced that after an initial autopsy proved "inconclusive," more tests, including a toxicology report that might require weeks to conduct, would be performed.

Travis Barker Twitters Props, Grief For DJ AM

After forming a lasting, near-tragic bond over their improbably survival of a plane crash that claimed the lives of four people last September, Blink 182's Travis Barker can't believe his close friend DJ AM is gone just one year later.

While he is normally known for his bitter online rants about his former wife Shanna Moakler, Barker's most recent Tweets were heartfelt and sad ...

"Don't know how i am gonna play 2night but i am for AM. My brother is gone.i love u and miss u, i'll never forget all the good times we had."

"I'll never forget everything we've been thru and every time i play the drums i'll think of you," Barker's Twitter tribute continued. "U were an amazing friend/DJ/human being. Rest In Peace my brother, this really f--ks me up."

The famed drummer has reunited with his longtime band Blink 182 and is on tour with the group, which took the stage in Hartford, Conn., last night.

Blink 182 paid tribute to DJ AM during an encore at their Saturday concert, Rolling Stone reports. When Barker would normally perform a drum solo, the band held an onstage vigil while all of the lights in the arena were turned off.

AM, real name Adam Goldstein, 36, was found dead Friday afternoon. The cause of his death is not yet known, but some say his recent breakup with Hayley Wood may have caused the addict-turned-straight-arrow DJ to relapse.

DJ AM: Devastated Over Hayley Wood Breakup

Sources say that the late DJ AM was "completely devastated" over a recent breakup with his girlfriend, Hayley Wood, with whom he split within the last week.

Hayley Wood was the one who called off their relationship.

"She ended it, and he didn’t want it to end. The breakup hurt him. He hadn't been in a good place lately. For the past week, he wasn't really around, he was just keeping to himself, and he was blowing people off," says a source.

Police found DJ AM dead in his New York apartment yesterday. The celebrity DJ, whose real name was Adam Goldstein, battled substance abuse in the past.

According to folks close to him, DJ AM was having a very hard time dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder from the plane crash he survived last September.

DJ AM has been sober for nine years, but sources say the breakup and the stress over the plane crash could have caused him to start using drugs again.

Prescription pill bottles and drug paraphernalia were allegedly found at the scene.

His body was removed last night. The friend who called 911 on Friday, prompting cops to enter Goldstein's apartment, told the dispatcher DJ AM had not been seen for two days, but people were still hearing from him Thursday.

The celebrity spin-meister will certainly be missed by stars and fans alike. Here's a video of Hayley Wood and DJ AM which she posted a few months ago ...

DJ AM Dead at 36; Found in NYC Apartment

DJ AM, who fought several battles with drugs in the past and survived a near-fatal plane crash just last year, passed away this afternoon. He was 36.

The star, whose real name was Adam Goldstein, was found dead in his New York City apartment Friday afternoon. The cause of death has not been released by the medical examiner, although it does not look like there was foul play.

Sources say he was found in his apartment at around 5:20 p.m. DJ AM had not been seen or heard from in a few days, prompting one of his friends to check on him.

He got no response after knocking on his apartment door.

The friend called the police, and this afternoon, the fire department finally entered his apartment and found his body, shirtless and wearing sweatpants.

TMZ reports that drug paraphernalia was found at the scene, including a "pipe commonly used to smoke drugs" - later identified as a crack pipe.

There were also reports of prescription pill bottles found in the vicinity of DJ AM's body. Details are just trickling in at this time, but stay tuned.

RIP DJ AM

Adam Goldstein, a.k.a. DJ AM (1973-2009).

Only three days before his death, he Tweeted, "New york, new york. Big city of dreams, but everything in new york aint always what it seems." So true.

Last year, he revealed that he was abused by his father, became addicted to drugs and had even attempted suicide in the past. DJ AM said he attended recovery meetings and has remained drug-free for about a decade.

"He was sober for 10 years, a friend said. "His sobriety was really important to him."

In April, the celebrity DJ signed on to do an intervention-style reality show, called Gone Too Far, on MTV and had began promoting the series this month.

In September, he was badly injured after a plane caught fire during an aborted takeoff in South Carolina. After surviving the crash that left four others dead, the star - who survived along with Travis Barker - said he was "the luckiest guy alive."
