Mandy Moore and DJ AM: Dating Again!

DJ AM and Mandy Moore dated for only two months in 2007, but since his plane crash last month, "It's back on," a source close to AM tells Us Weekly.

"Since the accident, it's blossomed into something again."

Mandy Moore rushed to DJ AM’s side after the September 19 crash that left him with burns on his arm and face, injured Travis Barker and killed four others.

Added the insider, "Mandy said, 'I like this guy a lot and I want to see where it can go again. Life is too short to not be with someone you really care about.'"

A witness who saw them at the October 18 Friendly House event in Beverly Hills says, "He was holding her hand, and they were rubbing each other's backs."

So after romances with other celebrities - DJ AM, 35, was once engaged to Nicole Richie, 27, while Moore went out with Scrubs star Zach Braff, 33, and tennis pro Andy Roddick, 26 — can the reunited couple make it work this time?

Says a DJ AM pal, "When you go through what Adam went through, you need people you love and people who love you. He will never stop loving her."

A Few Thankful Words from DJ AM

DJ AM is lucky to be alive - and he knows it.

Following a place crash that killed four people, the man whose real name is Adam Goldstein was recently released from the hospital.

He attended a concert in his honor in Hollywood last night and thanked fans for their support. Take a look:

Benefit Concert For DJ AM, Crash Victims Planned

As DJ AM continues to recover from severe burns suffered in a South Carolina plane crash which killed four others and seriously injured Travis Barker, some of his pals are preparing to welcome him home with a special concert.

The 35-year-old DJ AM (real name Adam Goldstein) has been "a very close friend ... for many years," organizers said in a statement. "We owe him a debt of gratitude that we can never repay, but we hope this helps just a bit."

The bash – set for October 14 at Avalon Hollywood – will feature celebrity DJs including the Grammy-winning Mark Ronson (brother of Samantha Ronson), Steve Aoki, Danny Masterson and Mixmaster Mike. Tickets are going for $20.

All proceeds will be donated to memorial funds for the victims.

Pilot Sarah Lemmon, 31, co-pilot James Bland, 52, security guard Charles Still, 25, and Barker's assistant and friend Chris Baker, 29, all perished in the crash.

DJ AM and Travis Barker, who both sustained second- and third-degree burns, were the only survivors, are expected to eventually make a full recovery.

Paris Hilton Sends Love, Support to DJ AM

Paris Hilton sent DJ AM her love and support this morning on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show.

Hilton said she recently talked with the DJ, whose real name is Adam Goldstein and that he mentioned "how scary" the crash was and that "he's just so lucky to be alive."

Paris added that DJ AM was in good spirits, or at least as good as could be expected.

"With all the love and support coming in, it really means a lot," Hilton said of her friend. "He's such a good person. I feel like God really did save him.

If you wish to send DJ AM any messages, we'll do our best to make sure he receives them.

DJ AM, Travis Barker to Make Full Recovery

After somehow escaping a plane crash that killed the other four passengers, doctors are saying that they expect both Travis Barker and DJ AM to make a full recovery from the second- and third-degree burns they suffered.

Their doctors at the Joseph Still Burn Center in Georgia told reporters that Travis Barker is badly burned on his torso as well as the lower portion of his body, while DJ AM reportedly suffered severe burns on his arm and head.

Rehabilitation from the burns will be a long and ongoing process, but Travis Barker and DJ AM remarkably suffered no additional injuries and are expected to be back to 100 percent eventually. Talk about great, unexpected news!

This photo of DJ AM and Travis Barker was taken at the event they performed at prior to the crash. Gavin DeGraw and Perry Farrell (not on board) also performed at the show.

Investigations into the crash are ongoing, but some believe the accident may have been due to a blown tire. The pilot, co-pilot, Barker's assistant and bodyguard were all killed. Barker and DJ AM somehow freed themselves from the wreckage.

Barker’s ex-wife, Shanna Moakler, flew to be with the Blink-182 drummer, while singer Mandy Moore (AM’s ex), and pal Jermaine Dupri have also visited. AM's ex-fiance, Nicole Richie, has not visited but has issued a statement sending her best.

Travis Barker-DJ AM Plane Crash Updates

Some updates on the tragic DJ AM / Travis Barker plane crash yesterday that left the two stars in critical condition and four other people dead ...

  • "Both Travis Barker and Adam Goldstein (DJ AM's real name) are in critical but stable condition," Beth Frits, spokesperson for the Joseph M. Still Burn Center, said. "Mr. Goldstein was airlifted here and Mr. Barker was brought by ground transportation. So they arrived separately."
  • Former Miss USA Shanna Moakler has rushed to be with her ex-husband Barker. Their children, ages 4 and 2, are with her parents. DJ AM's sister, Lara, and her husband, Benjamin Long, learned the news of the crash from a call from DJ AM's mother on Saturday morning.

Shanna Moakler and Travis Barker

  • DJ AM "was completely terrified and traumatized" after his jet crash early Friday, but he was conscious long enough inside the ambulance to call his mom.
  • Meanwhile, his ex-fiance Nicole Richie "wishes only the best for Adam and hopes he recovers from this. She's horribly upset about the people who died."
  • Nicole's current fiance, Joel Madden, "knows Travis and also feels terrible and hopes they recover. This is terrible news for both of them."
  • There was a rumor that Chris Baker, Barker's friend and business partner who perished in the crash, was on his way home to be with his pregnant wife and this was the reason for the group using a smaller jet. This has been refuted by AM's publicist, who says the DJ chartered the private plane all along.

Travis Barker, DJ AM Critically Injured in Plane Crash

Rocker Travis Barker and DJ AM were among the individuals aboard a Learjet that crashed upon takeoff from a South Carolina airport today.

This morning's accident has already killed four people and critically injured two others - presumably Barker and DJ AM - NBC News reports.

Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said the Lear 60 – bound for Van Nuys, Calif., with six people aboard – departed shortly before midnight Friday, when local air-traffic controllers reported seeing sparks.

The plane went off the runway and crashed on a nearby road.

Travis Barker (left), an ex-drummer for the rock band Blink 182 and the star of the MTV reality show Meet the Barkers, had performed at a Friday-night event with former Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell, singer Gavin DeGraw and DJ AM (right).

Barker was reportedly transported to a burn treatment center in nearby Augusta, Georgia, and was listed in critical condition as of 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

Hospital officials also confirmed that Nicole Richie's ex-fiance, DJ AM (real name: Adam Goldstein), was also admitted to the burn unit, and is in critical condition.

UPDATE #1: Neither Ferrell nor DeGraw were in the plane, their representatives told the Associated Press. We hope Barker and Goldstein recover fully and quickly.

UPDATE #2: Beth Frits, spokeswoman at Joseph Still Burn Center, tells CNN that both of the men have "extensive burns." Barker has been burned from his waste down while DJ AM's face was severely burned. Both are expected to survive.

UPDATE #3: A coroner has identified the four deceased victims in the crash: Pilot Sarah Lemmon, 31, of Anaheim Hills, Calif.; co-pilot James Bland, 52, of Carlsbad, Calif.; Chris Baker, 29, of Studio City, Calif., who was Travis Barker's assistant; and Charles Still, 25, of Riverside Calif., who was Travis' bodyguard.

DJ AM Talks About His Drug Addiction, Suicide Attempt

It's been a long time since we had a DJ AM sighting at The Hollywood Gossip and we'd just like to take a moment to welcome Nicole Richie's ex-fiance back.

The circumstances of his return? A shockingly revealing interview in February's issue of Glamour magazine, where DJ AM says that his father's verbal abuse was so bad it led to his drug addiction and almost taking his own life.

"I grew up in Philadelphia with a father who seemed to hate me: The verbal abuse he subjected me to was unbelievably cruel," DJ AM (a.k.a. Adam Goldstein) says. "If my family went out to dinner, my father would hit on the [male] waiter right in front of my mom... Finally she'd had enough and kicked him out."

But DJ AM says he blamed himself for the abuse. "To deal with all of my anger and sadness, I ate," he says. "By the time I was 10, I was obese."

DJ AM soon started taking drugs daily, for about two years, and eventually went to his mom and actually asked her to send him away to rehab.

But the treatment center â€" which specialized in "tough love," DJ AM recalls â€" "was an abusive house of horrors that would eventually be shut down. The counselors beat us. They spit in our faces. They starved us," he said.

"When I left rehab, I'd learned absolutely nothing about recovery ... I attended a few meetings, but within five months I was back doing drugs. Then my father died. Eventually, my mom kicked me out of her house as well."

Goldstein says his "main income was stealing cash and drugs from dealers. By 20, he began "freebasing cocaine" around the same time he began deejaying. "I would take my money, then race downtown and buy crack," he tells the magazine.

Overweight and hooked on drugs at 24, DJ AM felt his life was over.

"I went into my living room, reached into a cabinet above my TV and grabbed my gun, a loaded .22. I sat back, cocked it and put it into my mouth. I squinted my eyes and said, 'F--k this!' I pulled the trigger. But the gun didn't go off."

No More Moore: DJ AM Single Again

Adam GoldsteinStop the presses. DJ AM is once again without a starlet by his side.

Friends of Mandy Moore say that the singer/actress has kicked the DJ to the curb and is single again. DJ AM, real name Adam Goldstein, used to be the fiance of Nicole Richie, for reasons unknown to anyone intelligent.

That is, until after they broke up, when he confessed to his friends that he needed to date another high-profile actress or singer because his ratings were plummeting and he needed to get better gigs.

So it goes. He reportedly sampled Michelle Trachtenberg, but didn't think she was big enough. Then he went on to Moore, but the spinster's fake relationship with her it's officially over now, the New York Post reports.

A rep for Mandy Moore said, "We don't comment on her personal life."

Thanks a lot, rep for Mandy Moore. You're about as useful as a microphone in front of Ashlee Simpson. What we're saying is that she doesn't even sing her own songs.

Hey, DJ, here's a hot tip for you: Britney Spears is single!

Mandy Moore, DJ AM Continue Fake Relationship

PDA ParadeWe call shenanigans on you, Adam Goldstein.

And you too, Amanda Leigh Moore.

The "relationship" between the famous people better known as Mandy Moore and DJ AM is obviously just a publicity stunt. Aside from the fact that they seem totally mismatched, let's look at the evidence, shall we?

1. Moore conveniently has a new movie - Because I Said So - coming out very soon, and is begging for credibility as a serious actress. Despite being notoriously private about her personal life, she's suddenly Princess PDA when it comes to our favorite disc jockey. This is a bigger farce than Monday's episode of The Hills.

In fact, she engaged in a lip lock with AM in full view of hordes of paparazzi at the Sundance Film Festival, where she happens to have another film playing. Shocking. Wilmer Valderrama and Zach Braff roll over in their respective graves.

2. Since breaking up with ex-fiance Nicole Richie (dodged a bullet there, Adam!), DJ AM has openly stated how having a big-name girlfriend (please note that Michelle Trachtenberg doesn't qualify) helps him get better gigs. Talk about a relationship of convenience!

So don't be fooled by this charade. Of course, if Mandy Moore wanted to date this writer for publicity, that would be a different story. Call me - (213) FRE-EBRT.
