Smash star Debra Messing has filed to officially end her marriage to Daniel Zelman, six months after the couple of 10-plus years announced their separation.

According to court documents filed Tuesday, the actress seeks joint custody of their son, 8, and is asking for both spousal and child support from Zelman.

Messing, 43, began dating her Smash co-star Will Chase around the time of their split announcement in December, but things were over long before that.

Court papers timed the separation back in February 2010.

Messing, who married Zelman in September 2000, recently said she's "okay with people being unhappy with me" at work and in her personal life.

Messing has hired high-profile attorney Neal Hersh, whose notable celeb clients have included Camille Grammer, Halle Berry and Melissa Etheridge.

Actress Debra Messing and her husband, writer-producer Daniel Zelman, have separated after more than a decade of marriage, according to news reports.

People first reported that the couple - parents to a 7-year-old son, Roman - separated privately earlier this year. The news was shared publicly this week.

Messing, 43, and Zelman, 44, met when both were pursuing graduate degrees in acting at NYU during the early 1990s. They married in September 2000.

Us cites an individual close to the pair who says the former Will and Grace star and Zelman recently moved to New York and are still living together.

“It’s very amicable,” the source explains of the two.
