David Archuleta Avoids Cooties

Weeks ago, we caused quite an uproar by implying that David Archuleta had a girlfriend.

Whether or not that was valid, the American Idol finalist has made one thing clear: he never got to first base with that random girl.

According to an interview with Seventeen, Archuleta has never locked lips with anyone. Here are a few highlights from the cutie’s conversation with that magazine:

When was your first kiss?
I haven’t had a first kiss.

What’s a girl fashion trend that confuses you?

I don’t get those really short skirts.

What’s the girly movie you secretly love?
I only know of one, and it was good: A Walk to Remember. I hear so much about The Notebook, but I’ve never seen it. That’s the one all the girls were like, “Aww!”

Girls are Icky

Netflix orders for The Notebook just increased significantly, as teenage girls across the country hope to watch it with David Archuleta and be his first kiss.

David Archuleta Praises Jeff Archuleta

Over the weekend, David Archuleta was pressured into praising his father, Jeff Archuleta, for the world to read. So we assume, at least.

After summarizing his Father’s Day plans, David wrote the following on his MySpace page:

“Thanks everyone for wishing my dad a happy Father’s Day. I really appreciate that and I know he does as well. He’s been great so I’m glad you guys took time to send him your messages. Hope everyone else’s dads had a great time, too!”

Sweet David Archuleta

Did Jeff Archuleta force his son to write a positive blog about him? It wouldn’t shock us if so.

The elder Archuleta was banned from appearing backstage on American Idol earlier this year, following an incident in which he screamed at show producers for not allowing his son to change lyrics on a song; he’s been referred to many times as a controlling stage dad.

The 17-year-old David has always stood by Jeff’s side, however.

Meanwhile, fans will get a chance to see the singer do what he does best during the upcoming American Idol Idol tour, while David will also release a debut album in the fall.

David Archuleta Signs Record Deal

No shocker here: David Archuleta has signed a record contract.

“Signing a record contract with 19 Recordings/Jive Records is truly a dream come true,” Archuleta said in a statement. “I’m really excited to start working on everything.”

Simply Adored

The 17-year-old fan favorite - who finished second on American Idol this season to David Cook - already has three songs on the Hot 100 chart, including his rendition of “Imagine” and “In This Moment.”

Look for Archuleta’s debut album in the fall. In the meantime, catch the cutie on stage as part of The Idols Live Tour, which kicks off July 1 in Arizona.

David Cook vs. David Archuleta: And the Winner is…

The actual American Idol winner won’t be announced until tomorrow night.

Following their latest performances, though, we wanna know which finalist our readers think will take home the crown.

David Cook or David Archuleta?

David Archuleta sang Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me; In This Moment; and Imagine.

David Cook sang I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For; Dream Big; and The World I Know.

Who did a better job?

Face-Off: Should David Archuleta Win American Idol?

The big night is here. The favorite from the onset, David Archuleta has dispatched all but one singer as he closes in on the American Idol crown. But does Archuleta deserve it - or should David Cook win? That’s the subject of today’s Face-Off

SHOULD DAVID ARCHULETA BE THE NEXT AMERICAN IDOL?

YES by Free Britney

To paraphrase a line from the great MC Paul Barman, David Archuleta’s voice makes even the most anti-choice granny’s panties moist.

That may be a crude way of putting it, but there’s no denying that young Archuleta has massive appeal - and is a star in the making.

The American Idol world has seen some amazing talent and some real cuties, but David Archuleta may take the cake on both fronts.

This kid is no novelty act, but a true prodigy.

His formidable fellow finalist, David Cook, has been lauded for his guitar playing, but don’t forget that David Archuleta accompanied himself on piano during his renditions of “Another Day in Paradise” and “Angels.” He’s got game!

Oh, and what an inspirational story! Archuleta once suffered partial vocal paralysis (from which he is still recovering)! He’s controlled by his insane father! He couldn’t even go to his prom! What more can he do to win our hearts?

He’s the only guy not named Jack Daniel to bring Paula Abdul to tears. Just “imagine” what he could do with an entire CD!

Jeff Archuleta Barred from American Idol

While Jeff Archuleta may deny that he’s a controlling father, his son will need to finish his run on American Idol without the assistance of his dad.

According to reports, Jeff has had his backstage access revoked, leaving David Archuleta to practice on his own as the series heads to a conclusion.

Jeff Archuleta

Jeff Archuleta, seated on the right, isn’t loved behind the scenes of American Idol.

People says Jeff Archuleta is accused of overstepping his boundaries when he wanted David to alter his “Stand By Me” performance by adding a verse from Sean Kingston’s 2007 summer hit “Beautiful Girls.”

Show sources said Jeff ignored the producers’ objections, which led to problems with the song’s publisher. Despite being banned backstage, the elder Archulea will be allowed to sit in the audience during the live show.

David Archuleta Speaks!

With American Idol down to its final three contestants, David Archuleta remains the favorite (even though we prefer the stage presence of David Cook).

Below, the 17-year old cutie speaks with Billboard about his experiences so far on the show:

It seems like you’re always emotionally connected to the lyrics you’re singing.
When I was younger, I didn’t know what made me sing the song differently or how I sang it. I still don’t really understand fully, but the lyrics do mean a lot to me now, a lot more than before. I didn’t even pay attention to the lyrics when I was 12, 13.

Probably around the second year I did “Star Search” is when I paid more attention to the lyrics. I thought the music itself had such a power to it and now that I’ve understood how powerful lyrics are as well, I think that has allowed me to progress.

The Crusher

Simon Cowell said David Archuleta “crushed” the competition this week.

Earlier this season, you talked about suffering vocal paralysis a few years ago. Were you worried you wouldn’t be able to sing again?
The year after “Star Search” is when I found out I had vocal paralysis. That’s when I was really struggling, barely getting through a minute-and-a-half song. I took a break after that, because I thought, “I can’t do this.” I was having a hard time singing and I didn’t have a range back then and I didn’t know if it was permanent or not. I had no idea what it was.

I’d never even heard of it. I didn’t know your vocal chords could get paralyzed. After a while, I thought, “I need to start singing again. I just love it too much.” You know, there’s just something about it that makes you feel something that you can’t feel anywhere else.
