Dancing with the Stars execs are currently locked in negotiations to bring Lorenzo Lamas to the show, according to reports. Talk about a renegade mode.

Sources connected with the show say Lorenzo is "in talks" about a possible deal. Nothing is in stone yet, but he has "serious interest" in doing the show.

This follows reports that Kendra Wilkinson may be tapped to join the cast this spring as well. ABC is expected to announce the cast in the coming weeks.

No word if his ex-wife Shauna Sand, current fiancee Shawna Craig, or daughter Shayne Lamas have also been asked to cut a rug and chase the Mirror Ball.

Dancing With the Stars may have lost out on its top target in Lindsay Lohan, but sources say another major "get" may be imminent: Kendra Wilkinson.

Kendra was approached by ABC and met with execs, E! reports. "Her personality, combined with her ability to dance, is appealing," a source says.

Off the record, her breasts don't hurt, they probably thought. Also, the quota of at least one former Playboy centerfold per year must be adhered to.

Less than a year ago, on the Today show, she didn't mince her words about the reality competition, saying she would likely pass because she's a hands-on mom.

Fast forward 10 months and the money may do the talking for K-Dubs. It's not like they can count on big paydays and job security from Hank. No offense, Hank.

Besides, what better way to stir up fake divorce drama than dancing suggestively with Maksim Chmerkovskiy? In Touch Weekly just started salivating at that.

ABC's official line is that it won't comment on casting rumors, but the new season will kick off in March, so we should hear one way or the other soon.

Dancing With the Stars remains enormously popular, but has it lost its luster thanks to 2010's two most notable contenders, Bristol Palin and Kate Gosselin?

The series enjoyed renewed prominence thanks to those two, but at what cost? Is it really even about celebrities learning to dance anymore? Or dancing?

As recently as mid-2009 (amazing, we know), Kate Gosselin was just a random reality star with a bad haircut, douchebag husband and eight kids.

Has DWTS been tarnished by this tandem?

Dancing With the Stars unleashed the power of the tabloids by casting her, then upped the ante with Bristol Palin, daughter of former politician Sarah.

People came out in droves to support or tear them down. There was no middle ground between them supporting their kids or being absentee moms.

They got as far as they did by being on the front of tabloids, becoming TV personalities that divided people and generating massive controversy.

Despite interest from producers and support from her fans, Lindsay Lohan has turned down an offer to appear on Dancing With the Stars.

"We are huge fans of the show and think it's incredible," terrible mom Dina said. "We'll watch it, but it is not going to happen this season."

Plugging herself, Dina adds, "Lindsay actually told the woman at Dancing With The Stars who made the offer, 'you need to take my mom!'"

HOLD UP: Dina and Lindsay have put the brakes on DWTS.

Lindsay gave the offer serious consideration, but decided to keep her focus on drug and alcohol rehab, which is a very mature decision.

"Lindsay is a great dancer, but she's taking a break right now. She has been through a lot," Dina said, before talking about herself again.

"Our family loves the show. I'm a dancer, and I taught dance when Lindsay was growing up. I dragged her from one studio to another."

We're reported the rumor already, but it looks like Lindsay Lohan is really in talks to be a contestant on the hit show Dancing With the Stars.

After what seemed like endless legal problems that landed her in jail and rehab, the ABC hit wants to give LiLo a chance to rehab her image.

“Lindsay has been talking with the DWTS people,” a source close to her said. “She is definitely interested and considering being on the show.”

While the troubled star remains in rehab at the Betty Ford Center, she has the full support of her treatment team behind her for this gig.

"Lindsay's treatment team actually thinks that Dancing With the Stars would be a perfect transition back to work for her," says the insider.

"She would have a set schedule, she would be occupied and would be very productive. Lindsay wanted their approval before proceeding."

She got it, too - it's a far cry from Lindsay Lohan nude in Inferno - and it could be a good fit. DWTS producers have wanted her for a while.

Dancing With The Stars producers aren't quite ready fora same-sex couple on the ballroom floor after Portia de Rossi didn't pan out, according to reports.

"If Portia agreed, this would have been a done deal," an ABC insider says.

Ellen DeGeneres' actress wife "was the only star that really could have pulled this off without completely offending the program's conservative viewers."

Ellen still dances a lot on her show, at least.

Portia was rumored to be going Dancing next year, but turned down overtures from the network for unknown reasons. As a result, the show "isn't in a rush to have a same-sex dancing couple just to get attention and publicity."

The show has a soft spot for stunt casting - Kate Gosselin and Bristol Palin are just the newest, best examples - but DWTS isn't out to push the envelope.

Between Bristol's run to the finals and reports that her father, Todd, may be next, many people can't get enough of the Palins on Dancing With the Stars.

One judge on the show certainly can, though.

"I think one Palin was enough," Carrie Ann Inaba told E! News, responding to Todd Palin speculation. "I think we need to go on a Palin vacation for a bit."

Palins mean ratings, but that's not enough to sway one judge.

"Although it was such great media attention, I think it was too controversial," Inaba explained. "I think people got confused about what they were rooting for"

"Are you voting for dancing on the show or are you voting for a Party? I think it made it uncomfortable for a lot of people who just want to see dancing."

When I heard DWTS was courting LiLo, I was skeptical. Is she ready for the spotlight so soon, I wondered. But what better start to her post-rehab life?

This is a girl once known for family-friendly projects. Now that she's really turning a corner in her troubled life, she can endear herself to 20 million people.

Whether it's fans' first look at Lohan 2.0, or a welcome comeback by the adorable Parent Trap star, she can actually dance, giving her a leg up on Bristol!

Lindsay Lohan should not go Dancing with the Stars for one reason: she'd win in a landslide. Seriously, check out "Jingle Bell Rock" choreography in Mean Girls.

But even more seriously: DWTS is viewed by over 20 million people a week. While the resumes of its "Stars" may often be thin, at least these contestants are known for SOMEthing in their professional field. (Okay, except Bristol Palin.)

Sadly, Lindsay isn't known as anything but a train wreck at this point. The acting boat sailed about two drug arrests ago. How would ABC even describe her? Lindsay Lohan, Professional Rehabber? Not an example such a popular show should set.

Bristol Palin brought unprecedented buzz and ratings to Dancing with the Stars. So much so that the producers are dying to go back to that well once again.

This time they want Bristol's dad, Todd, who reportedly turned it down this season before Bristol joined. "They want him big time," a source told E! News.

This amid reports that Sarah forced her daughter to do the show. "They'd love Sarah herself, but that will never happen, so why not dad," the source said.

The show is also after someone else connected with the 2008 GOP ticket: Meghan McCain, daughter of Arizona Senator and two-time presidential hopeful John.

If producers have their way, the family members of the McCain/Palin ticket would be competing against each another ... kind of like two years ago in a way.

Jennifer Grey was named the champion of Dancing with the Stars this season, but Bristol Palin and her surprise run to the finals got the most attention.

"So she told Bristol she 'owed' it to her to do DWTS so that 'America would fall in love with her again' and make it possible for Sarah to run in 2012."
