Chris Brown Comeback Tour Kicks Off Next Week

What a coincidence.

A day after Rihanna's new single comes out, Chris Brown's going on tour!

Well, he's announced plans to go on tour, anyway. To go on a Fan Appreciation Tour, no less. Brown wants to "thank folks who have stood by him" this year.

Chris' year has been marred by a February assault on his girlfriend and subsequent guilty plea on felony assault charges. Not a lot of positive PR in that.

Just the same, he's looking to get back to the music. Brown said his "first show back" would be October 27 at Power 105's Powerhouse show in New Jersey.

He's not the only one on the bill there, but there's more. His month-long jaunt kicks off November 14 at the House of Blues in Houston and will touch down in similar venues in 19 cities across the country, including L.A., Chicago and Boston.

C-Bizzle

Chris Brown's comeback is scheduled to begin soon. You in?

The small venues were chosen to encourage an intimate atmosphere geared toward real Chris Brown fans, according to the R&B singer's tour organizers.

Brown, who has been busy performing community labor in Virginia, unveiled his first single since February, "I Can Transform Ya," late last month.

Speaking of being transformed, his tour is sending a positive message:

A portion of tour proceeds will go to Best Buddies International, a group that provides employment and leadership opportunities for people with developmental disabilities, and to the Jenesse Center, which supports victims of domestic violence.

No donations make up for what he did and the message it sent, but you gotta credit him for doing all the right things since his guilty plea, at least.

Chris Brown: Trash Spotted on Side of the Road

Chris Brown may have avoided jail time for his assault on Rihanna in February, but at least his detractors can rest assured the judge that let him off with probation and community labor wasn't kidding about the labor part.

Brown was placed on roadside cleanup duty for the day in Virginia, spending 3-5 hours pulling weeds and picking up trash on the side of the road.

Plus, lest you think the Commonwealth of Virginia is horsing when it comes to Brown's punishment, he also cleaned up the grounds in and around a Virginia horse stable where the police horses are kept. That stinks. For him.

No, really, they smell bad.

The next time Chris reports for hard labor, which may or may not be tomorrow, he could be assigned different tasks. Here he is on the job today:

Chris Brown Picking Up Trash

Reflective vest and all, Chris Brown repays his debt to society.

The singer, who recently appeared in an hour-long interview with Larry King to apologize for the act, Tweeted today: "On my way to community service."

Brown's sentence, which amounts to more than 1,400 hours, will include "graffiti removal, washing cars, and cleaning and maintaining other grounds."

He will also serve a five-year probation sentence, attend a year of domestic violence classes, pay fines and stay away from Rihanna for five full years.

Better than serving time behind bars, for sure, but not exactly a walk in the park, either. Talk about having to bust your a$$. Those weeds look tall!

Do you think it's an appropriate sentence?

Yes, let the kid move on!
No, he got off too easy!

Takers? Chris Brown Looks to Boost Career

Chris Brown's upcoming movie, Takers, actually looks pretty darn good.

Or will at least give people a chance to see Chris Brown do something other than answer questions about why he beat the living hell out of Rihanna.

In all seriousness, though, it could be cool.

Featuring the likes of Matt Dillon, Paul Walker, Hayden Christensen, and even T.I. and Idris Elba (best known from The Wire and awkwardly amusing The Office quotes last season), the movie's working title was Bone Deep.

That title was dropped, possibly because it sounds like a movie Lindsay Lohan would star in - for free, every night from 2-6 a.m. - if ever one existed.

Takers Movie Poster

Everyone's after something. Including the newest version of Photoshop.

Takers features Chris Brown & Co. taking part in a whole host of precision heists, double-crosses, explosions and using firearms. Good fun all around!

Is this a good vehicle for Chris to jump-start his career after the speed bump he hit when he hit RiRi in Feburary? Check out the trailer for it below ...

Chris Brown to Tila Tequila: Quit Talkin' About Me!

Desperate to milk attention after the San Diego County D.A. decided not to press charges against Shawne Merriman, Tila Tequila zeroed in on a new target:

Chris Brown.

The back story, if you're unaware: Tila alleges that Merriman, who plays for the San Diego Chargers of the NFL, assaulted her at his house a week ago.

He said he was only trying to keep her from leaving his house and driving home drunk. She may have been jealous about a foursome he wanted to have.

Merriman was arrested, but D.A. said yesterday he would not be charged.

Angry that she can't milk this for more attention justice will not be served, Tila egged on admitted woman-beater Chris Brown over and over on Twitter.

A C-Brown PicTila Pic

Whether she's posing for risque pics, pretending to be bisexual or calling out celebs who have nothing to do with her, Tila Tequila will do anything for publicity.

Note that Chris, who recently pleaded guilty to assaulting Rihanna, is not involved in this whatsoever, Tequila just started a Twitter feud for no reason.

But it got so bad that Brown felt the need to respond:

"NOT TRYNA BE RUDE but i keep hearing tila bringing my name up. ur 15 seconds of fame has ended. dont try to gain fans by dissing me. godbless."

At least he took the high road, mostly, though he did get in a small dig.

Not that we blame Chris for firing that one back, since he's already been punished by the court and public... and has nothing to do with Tila Tequila.

Chris Brown on Larry King Live: The Full Interview

Chris Brown was - and still is - in love with Rihanna, he says.

But he wasn't emotionally prepared to deal with rough patches.

"I'm not saying domestic violence is a part of relationships," he said when asked by Larry King on CNN's Larry King Live. "But we're both young, nobody taught us how to love one another. No one taught us how to control our emotions, our anger."

In the gut-wrenching, hour-long interview, his first since beating Rihanna in February, Brown said all he can do is hope for a "bunch of better tomorrows."

"I've said countless times how sorry I am - to Rihanna," Brown said. "It's a night I wish I could just take back ... I feel totally ashamed of what I did."

Brown repeatedly refused to discuss the specifics of the fight and why he treated Rihanna the way he did, at one point saying he didn't even remember.

Clearly nervous, with his voice cracking, Brown just misspoke there. He was shy on details, but at the same time, didn't make excuses - nor has he ever.

"One of the interesting things about Chris, he wanted to take full responsibility for this immediately," said his attorney, Mark Geragos. "He did not want to deny what happened. There was a lot of remorse. That's unusual in my line of work."

As for the punishment he received - five years' probation, counseling and community labor - Chris Brown feels there are better ways for him to help.

"I feel like with what I'm capable of doing as far as influencing people, influencing kids, I could do a lot more to help the community other than picking up trash," he said, adding, "I'm not saying it's wrong, but there's a lot more I could do."

Geragos thinks that counseling will certainly help Brown, whom he's come to love "like a son or a nephew." Brown said "I don't think, at the end of the day, my career's over," and that he's "pretty sure [he and Rihanna] can be friends."

Chris Brown on Larry King: Ashamed, Full of Regret

Another clip from Chris Brown's big interview on Larry King Live has been unearthed, and in this one, the star says he's "ashamed" and "really regrets" his actions.

Those actions being beating the living crap out of Rihanna.

Chris couldn't explain why he flipped out that night, but in the interview set to air tomorrow night, he says "it's just one of those nights I wish I could take back."

In a previously leaked excerpt from the CNN interview, Chris Brown said that he didn't even remember beating up his then-girlfriend, who he is still in love with.

He later clarified that, saying of course he remembers pounding her senseless, but misspoke that one time, and is still sorry and sad about what happened.

Here's the latest clip from Brown's interview with King ...

Chris Brown Does in Fact Recall Rihanna Pounding

He's ashamed, regretful and terribly sorry. But he is not forgetful.

Chris Brown is clarifying what he calls "incorrect" reports about his quote on Larry King Live (airing tomorrow night) about his vicious assault on Rihanna.

Reports state - and preview clips appear to show (see below) - that Brown says he does not even remember whomping on his girlfriend February 8.

Here's what Chris Brown has to say about it in a statement:

"There have been reports on the Internet that I didn't remember what happened that night with Rihanna. I want to try and set things straight."

"That 30 seconds of the interview they used of me was taken from a one hour interview during which that same question was asked 4-5 times – and when you look at the entire interview you will see it is not representative of what I said."

"The first four times - however many times it was - I gave the same answer, which was that I didn't think it was appropriate to talk about that night."

"I said it was not right for me and it wasn't fair to Rihanna. The fifth time, I just misspoke. I was asked, 'Do you remember doing it?' and I said, 'No.'"

Brown in Blue

"Of course I remember what happened. Several times during the interview, my mother said that I came to her right afterwards and told her everything."

"But it was and still is a blur. I still can't believe it happened because it is not me or who I am, nor is what happened like anything I've ever done before."

"As I've said several times, I am ashamed of and sorry for what happened that night and wish I could relive that moment and change things, but I can't."

"I take full responsibility for my actions. What I have to do now is to prove to the world that this was an isolated incident and that is not who I am.

"I intend to do so by my behavior now and in the future."

With the sentencing behind him, Brown is eager to start court-ordered counseling: "I want to find out what really transpired as far as me that night. I just want to talk to [the counselor], someone who has dealt with this."

"I think it would be helpful for me to learn how to channel [the anger] and understand my feelings," says the 20-year-old singer of his rage issues.

Brown says he'd never claim to have forgotten the assault or spend time defending himself: "I feel like there's no need to make any excuses. At all."

Chris Brown: I Still Love Rihanna (and Don't Recall Pounding the Crap Out of Her)

Yes, you read the headline right, and we're not lying. He said this. Both parts.

Fans and celebrity gossip readers everywhere were shocked to hear that R&B star Chris Brown pummeled girlfriend Rihanna senseless back in February.

Chris Brown was also shocked to learn this.

That is, if his first public comments on the situation since being given five years probation last week are to be believed in his softball Q&A with Larry King.

Flanked by mom Joyce Hawkins and attorney Mark Geragos during the interview, airing this week, Brown said he had no recollection of the bloody fight.

Chris Brown on Larry King

"No, I don't," Brown said, when asked whether he remembers savagely walloping his superstar ex-girlfriend. "It's like, it's crazy to me. I'm like, wow."

We're like, "wow," too right now. Another shocking quote? Chris Brown's revelation, in a new interview with People, that he's still in love with Rihanna.

"I never fell out of love with her," he said. "That just wouldn't go away." Unfortunately, that court order might make it go away - 100 yards away.

Other Chris Brown revelations from the two interviews:

  • "I was distraught ... I went to my mom on the same night and told [her] what happened and broke down." (on his reaction after the assault)
  • "I feel like he enjoyed it. He was an abuser. It was continuous." (on how his domestic abuse history differs from his abusive stepfather)

Here's a (very short) clip of Brown on Larry King Live ...

Joyce Hawkins: Not Ashamed of Son Chris Brown

After her son's formal sentencing to five years' probation this week for beating Rihanna, Chris Brown's mom Joyce Hawkins has spoken out for the first time.

Thanking fans for standing by her troubled 20-year-old son, Hawkins posted the following comments on the singer's fan site, TheChrisBrownFanClub.com:

"I want to say, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for your continued support. I'm sorry I wasn't allowed to speak to anyone as the case was ongoing."

"I can now say this has been the most painful moment in my entire life, but knowing that you were still standing by Chris' side made it a little easier for us."

"Because of all your prayers, God brought him through."

Joyce Hawkins, Chris Brown

Chris Brown and his mom Joyce Hawkins.

"I just want to say God has never failed me and never will. All moms and dads please stand by your children and pray for their goodness each and every day."

"I made a promise. I would never be ashamed of him no matter where I am or who I talk to. You see this whole thing isn't about Chris Brown, it's about God."

"He wants to show all of you the goodness of him through Chris. Chris will be addressing all of his fans very soon. We love you so much and so does God."

On Wednesday, both Chris and his mother taped a revealing interview - his first since the February 8 beating - with Larry King, which will air September 2.

It's certainly hard to fault Joyce for sticking by her son, but evoking God can only do so much. Given Brown's history of violence, it's on him to set a better example and prove that he deserves the second chance he's been given.

Chris Brown to Tell All on Larry King

Chris Brown has pleaded guilty to felony assault (and given five years' of probation as a result) and apologized to Rihanna personally (multiple times, says he).

He's even professed regret in a YouTube video for the world to see.

But the disgraced R&B star still had something to say, because he sat down with Larry King on Wednesday at CNN's Hollywood headquarters for his first interview since his arrest for beating Rihanna senseless on the eve of the Grammys.

Brown's mother Joyce Hawkins was also there, as well as attorney Mark Geragos. A source says Brown's mom got very emotional and cried during the interview.

Chris Brown's interview will air Wednesday, September 2.

Chris Brown Sentenced

According to reports, the no-holds-barred chat featured Brown answering each and every question put to him. We don't know yet what exactly was asked.

One can assume, though, that the star's probation report, which indicated he got rough with Rihanna twice before the now-infamous assault, was a topic.

Brown was formally sentenced yesterday this week to five years' probation, 52 weeks of domestic-violence counseling and 180 days of community labor.

He will complete that in his home state of Virginia.
