Meryl Streep has been nominated for Academy Awards approximately 278 times, and while she didn't win last night, the acting legend looked classy as ever.

In this day and age, it's refreshing to see the Julie & Julia star wear what many may consider old-fashioned attire but with such style. She's really awesome.

Charlize Theron, on the other hand, may want to rethink going with the same fashion designer next year. Is her own dress getting to second base with her?

What a year for plastic surgery. Despite having achieved fame and fortune already, many celebrities just can't resist going under the knife. Just look at this guy!

What a freak. But here we're focused solely on 2008 and some of the best (and worst) unnecessary surgeries performed on stars in the past 12 months.

There was certainly no shortage of worthy candidates, but Esquire magazine has settled on Charlize Theron as its "sexiest woman alive" this year.

We're not sure if we'd go that far, but the Oscar-winning actress, 32, is certainly looking damn good in magazine's new issue, due out Tuesday.

Yeah. This sexy Charlize Theron photo might prove Esquire's point.

Charlize Theron won an Oscar for her role in Monster, and was nominated for another for North Country. She also has a funny side, delivering some great Arrested Development quotes in a recurring role on the offbeat Fox comedy.

Sexiest woman alive, though? That's a bit of a stretch. Charlize sure is in the running for this homor, but what about these other worthy candidates?
