When Roseanne Barr rose to fame in the '80s her weight was part of her act and - for many - added to her appeal. But now, long-retired from the stand-up circuit and with her sitcom years behind her, Roseanne has clearly decided to shed those extra pounds, and the result is astounding.

The 61-year-old comic showed up to a recent NBC event looking thinner than ever before. For some women Roseanne's age such dramatic and sudden weight loss might be cause for concern but Barr appeared happy and energetic, smiling and posing for the photographers on hand.

Always the jokester, Roseanne was of course quick with a quip when asked about her diet secrets. "Crack!! I'm doing crack," she told reporters before adding, "I'm just doing the things you're supposed to do...you know, moving more, and eating less."

If only it were that easy! Many stars have publicly fought the battle of the bulge with mixed results. Jessica Simpson used Weight Watchers with obvious success, while other stars have been decidedly less lucky.

"It's not everyday I like to show a lot of skin," the 37-year-old Hart said, explaining it all when it comes to her body, "but these days, I'm feeling confident."

The Melissa & Joey star's toned legs and taut tummy are on display to show off her weight loss since the birth of her youngest son Tucker, 18 months.

The mom to Mason, 8, Braydon, 5, and Tucker gained 60 pounds during her third pregnancy. "I was so sick of things not fitting properly," Hart told Us.

That promoted the star to join Nutrisystem in February 2013.

Since her life-changing decision, Hart says she's dropped "three jean sizes, and all my baby weight and then some." Impressive stuff, no doubt about it!

Give The Biggest Loser winner Rachel Frederickson credit for her attitude.

After her stunning 155-pound weight loss - and resulting 105-pound frame - were revealed on the Season 15 finale, the 24-year-old faced major backlash.

Millions of viewers of NBC's weight loss competition, and some of the trainers who helped her, thought she had gone too far and was too skinny now.

Rachel Frederickson didn't see it as just criticism, though. Just concern.

Rachel Frederickson After The Biggest Loser

"I'll always be grateful for the concern everyone had," Rachel tells Us Weekly.

"I will say, I had so much positive support, even on social media. Honestly, you look at it and you say, 'Wow, if people are talking, they're concerned or supportive.'"

"And at the end of the day, that's pretty amazing to have so many people aware of what I went through," she added, "and what others are going through."

Wow. That is one positive outlook. She admits it wasn't always easy, though.

The Biggest Loser winner Rachel Frederickson hasn't kept all the weight off since the show's finale, and in her case, she says that's a very good thing.

The winner of the 15th season, who shocked the cast and TBL viewers with her wild 155-pound slimdown, revealed that she has since gained 20 back.

She does not regret the big response to her big reveal, however.

"It started a discussion about body image. That's huge," Rachel says of the debate over whether she was too thin upon revealing her winning figure at the time.

Since then, "I've gone up about 20 pounds," she adds.

As a result of that, "I think I'm at my perfect weight."

That would put the 24-year-old Rachel Frederickson at a sound 125 pounds, after weighing for the final time on The Biggest Loser at just 105.

Meet Misty Shaffer.

The wife of an American military member, she surprised husband Larry after the couple had spent a year apart, greeting him with a smile and a new look:

Molly shed 100 pounds during the couple's very long time apart, keeping her weight loss plan a secret and doing it by simply replacing junk food with vegetables and cutting down on her portions.

"I've been happy with the way she's looked since day one,” Larry told a local NBC affiliate, though he admitted that Misty’s svelte body was the “icing on the cake” to his return home.

These celebrities don't have the ASSets of Kim Kardashian! And they can't post belfies like Jen Selter.

While "thin" might be "in" it is possible to be too skinny, and some of these starlets are in the running for Waif of the Year.

And if the camera really DOES add 10 pounds...

Maybe some of these women are naturally thin. That doesn't mean they can't enjoy a good slice of pie for their souls! It is, after all, Pi Day, so if there's ever a day to eat pie, it's definitely today. Calories from pie don't count on 3.14!

From Biggest Loser's Rachel Frederickson to a once-cocaine addicted Lindsay Lohan, here are 14 celebrities who need to eat some pie.

Maria Kang, a.k.a. the "Hot Facebook Mom," is back again, and she's courting controversy (not a surprise) with her "no excuses" attitude toward fitness.

The wife, mom, blogger and founder of a fitness nonprofit made headlines last year with a photo of herself and her three kids captioned, "What's your excuse?"

The post garnered media attention and drew the ire of thousands of critics who slammed her for "fat shaming," and more when she refused to apologize.

Maria Kang claimed she was trying to be inspirational. Now she's back with reinforcements (more than 700 local groups) in the "No Excuse Moms Movement."

On Tuesday, Kang shared a scantily clad photo to promote this, featuring arrows pointing to her supposed stretch marks and notes highlighting her busy lifestyle:

The campaign encourages moms to gather for regular workouts in public spaces.

The image sparked more controversy, as some took issue with her tone and others claimed the pic was digitally edited. But Kang hit back at haters on Instagram:

"I don't get it. #DrPhil and #jillianmichaels always say 'what's your excuse?'"

"In fact #thebiggestloser had a whole season based on "no excuses" so why does a 'nobody' like myself get underneath people's skin?" Maria lamented.

Imagine walking into your Weight Watchers meeting and sitting next to... Jessica Simpson.

She had two babies in 14 months and the tabloids have NOT been kind as a result.

But Jessica's been doing Weight Watchers ads for a while now and looks fantastic.

Especially in her newest one. Take a look:

"The meetings keep me focused and motivated," Jessica, 33, tells the camera in the spot. "I can honestly say that I've never been happier."

Although I'm sure the rumored $8,000,000 contract was also good motivation.

Can we expect the next commercial to include those famous Daisy Duke shorts?

THAT would be great marketing. Someone over there should get on it. For more celebrities who've majorly slimmed down, check out our gallery:

When Rachel Frederickson revealed her weight loss on The Biggest Loser finale, even Jillian Michaels was agasp. Until now, though, she hadn't opened up about it.

"I was stunned," the trainer told HuffPost Live.

"I thought she had lost too much weight."

Michaels said the show implements a number of checks and balances, including having the trainers check in with contestants even after the ranch.

But she had no idea Rachel Frederickson had been losing so much on her own, bringing her weight loss total to a staggering 155 pounds (out of 260).

"In my opinion, this had fallen through those checks and balances," she said of The Biggest Loser winner and her controversial season-ending reveal.

Frederickson herself has since said she may have gone to an extreme, admitting: "Maybe I was a little too enthusiastic in my training to get to the finale."

The Biggest Loser winner Rachel Frederickson, 24, visited Today this morning, and if she was looking to quell criticism of her appearance, she succeeded.

She certainly appeared much healthier than earlier this month, when she won The Biggest Loser and shocked the world with her astonishing weight loss.

Rachel Frederickson on Today

The former swimmer dropped 155 pounds (starting from 260 when the show began) in just a seven-month span, and stunned viewers with her big reveal.

Even trainers Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper were stunned.

Rachel Frederickson came under fire for being too skinny and the show itself was criticized for what some believe is a lack of ethics and oversight.

But since then, the former swimming standout seems to have slightly filled out, with much less severe facial features in what she calls her "maintenance mode."
