This is family bonding at its finest. A timeless rite of passage. A little taste of bygone Americana that brings a tear to one's eye.

Authorities said they were conducting a routine probation search - because, you know, Redmond O'Neal has been in legal trouble before - at the family's Malibu home when they found him in possession of methamphetamine.

A vial of the drug was then, allegedly, found in Ryan O'Neal's room.

The drug-doing duo were held on $10,000 bail. That's per person.

Ryan, 67, and Redmond, 23, both posted it and have been released.

Redmond O'Neal's mother is Farrah Fawcett and his half-sister is Tatum O'Neal, who was, crazily enough, arrested July 1 for trying to buy crack in New York City.

This isn't even the first mug shot of Redmond O'Neal we have on file at The Hollywood Gossip - that would be this one. Wipe that smirk off your face, smart ass!

It's weird to think that a little over a decade ago, Courtenay Semel was your typical student at The Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, Connecticut.

Times have certainly changed for the daughter of Yahoo! CEO Terry Semel.

These days, the socialite appears to be taking a class entitled How to Get Famous with No Talent 101. To wit:

• Ridiculously-spelled first name? Check!
• Phony relationship to garner media attention? Check!
• Police record? Check!

The latter was confirmed last night, as TMZ reports that Semel was arrested in Las Vegas.

What does the future hold for Courtenay Semel? A reality TV show and sex tape aren't out of the question.

According to law enforcement officials, a wasted Courtenay "smacked" a security guard in the back of the head on her way out of Pure Nightclub. It's unknown if girlfriend Tila Tequila was with her at the time.

Semel was immediately detained by Caesars Palace security, as members of her posse - yes, Courtenay Semel evidently has a posse - waited for the police to arrive. Four hours later, cops were on the scene and issued Court a citation for battery.

Donnie Wahlberg is a new kid... on the chopping block!

He and and soon-to-be ex-wife Kim Fey each filed for divorce last week in court documents, citing irreconcilable differences. Fey is seeking sole physical and legal custody of their two sons – Xavier, 15 and Elijah, 7 – with visitation rights for Wahlberg.

Wahlberg's former flame is also after spousal support and attorney's fees from the New Kids on the Block singer. It's a good thing that group went on a recent comeback tour. (It's then too bad it was a disaster.)

Fey and Wahlberg were married in August 1999 and separated in January.

Most people would love an extended visit to the Turks & Caicos islands. One celeb's hothead dad wishes he could get off.

Following the amazing Nikki Blonsky fight last week, her pop has tried like hell to bolt Turks & Caicos - but there he stays.

The bail hearing for Carl Blonsky took place today. The Turks and Caicos Sun (great newspaper name) reported that Carl was willing to put up $75,000 - his entire savings - to avoid any jail time. A judge had none of it.

The judge in Providenciales Magistrates' Court just ruled that Carl Blonsky will have to wait until August 19 to post bail.

Nikki Blonsky was not in the T&C for the hearing.

Earlier reports today stated that her dad was likely to make bail because of his kidney condition, which requires close monitoring.

But because of the type of crime he's accused of (grievous bodily harm) after the bitchtastic fight in the T&C airport, forget about it.

The victim of Carl's attack, former America's Next Top Model star Bianca Golden's mother Eleine, remains in a Miami hospital's ICU.

Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, awaiting trial on perjury and other charges, has been sent to jail after violating bail by leaving the country.

Prosecutor Robert Moran argued that Kilpatrick should have told Judge Ronald Giles of a trip to Canada. The mayor, who is required to alert the court to all travel plans, went across the border last month on business.

Kwame Kilpatrick apologized, but Giles ordered him into custody, saying he was giving the mayor the same treatment as any other defendant.

Kilpatrick faces charges of perjury, misconduct and obstruction of justice stemming from a scandal in which he and ex-Chief of Staff Christine Beatty lied about having a sexual relationship and their roles in firing a police official.

Beatty and Kwame Kilpatrick denied under oath during a civil trial last year that they had a romantic relationship in 2002 and 2003.

Text messages allegedly exchanged between the two in April reveal sexually explicit exchanges and professions of love and promises of marriage.

Kilpatrick was also busted in a sordid love tryst with Carmen Slowsky ... whoever that is. Something tells us it could be an alias. Just maybe.

His attorneys have questioned the authenticity of those and other allegations, fighting battles on several legal and political fronts.

The investigation into Heath Ledger's death is officially case closed - the high-profile probe was closed abruptly without no charges being filed.

Mary-Kate Olsen had just been subpoenaed by a federal grand jury, but her attorney had been in negotiations with federal authorities since.

The actress was expected to be a part of a DEA investigation into Ledger's death earlier this year - after Ledger's masseuse found his dead body, she used the star's cell phone to dial MK three times before hitting up 911.

But with the case officially closed, Olsen's now off the hook. She must be so relieved. She'll probably start eating regularly now. Oh wait ...

On a related note, sources connected with the Heath Ledger investigation say the Drug Enforcement Administration set a new low with its conduct.

How's this for starters ... no one connected with the case can point to a single other DEA case where a massive investigation was launched over an accidental death in which no criminality was evident - or even hinted at.

According to celebrity gossip site TMZ, Nikki Blonsky and her father got into an altercation in the departure lounge at the Providenciales airport in the Turks and Caicos islands in the Caribbean.

Sources say the Hairspray actress and her pops fought with the family of former America's Next Top Model contestant Bianca Golden over saving seats in the lounge; allegedly, families on both sides were throwing down, yelling and cursing.

Considering the size of Nikki Blonsky's "weapons," who would dare to get into a fight with this actress?

Both D-list celebrities have been charged with assault, two counts worth for Blonsky. Moreover, Nikki's father Carl was also charged with inflicting bodily harm, for his supposed beatdown of Elaine Golden, Bianca's mom.

No snarky comment can do justice to this story.

As if this developing story couldn't get any weirder, Verne Troyer is now suing Ranae Shrider for allegedly beating the hell out of him.

In a lawsuit which will be filed in Federal court soon, Troyer is accusing Shrider of intentional infliction of emotional distress and battery.

Verne's lawyer, Ed McPherson, tells celebrity news site TMZ, "When you pick up a 2'8" human being and throw him to the floor, it hurts."

Well, it's hard to argue with that.

Others are being sued here as well, including some lawyer who allegedly tried to broker a deal for the sale of the Verne Troyer sex tape.

In the lawsuit, Verne Troyer basically says Ranae Shrider terrorized him.

Once, she even picked the lock to his bedroom door, pushing away a 100 pound scooter that was used to block it, and threw him on the floor. Ouch.

The price of the damages Ranae Shrider did to him? A paltry $20 million. We'll see if Verne's lawsuit holds up or if he takes another (legal) beating ...

Refusing to call it quits despite being dissed by mainstream media, The National Enquirer has released more scandalous John Edwards allegations!

The celebrity gossip tabloid reports that Edwards' alleged mistress / baby-mama, Rielle Hunter (also known as Lisa Druck), will not say a word about their affair and love child because she's being paid to zip it - $15,000 a month!

The money is reportedly being funneled to Hunter by a colleague of John Edwards, the former U.S. Senator from North Carolina, 2004 Democratic Vice Presidential nominee (running with John Kerry) and 2008 presidential candidate.

This same man is also supposedly paying off John Edwards’ friend and aide, Andrew Young, who tried to take the heat off the ex-Senator when the story broke in December by claiming he fathered the baby of Rielle Hunter.

A campaign insider told the National Enquirer the following: “A super-rich pal – who was closely involved with the campaign finances – is helping John. It’s likely this man doesn’t know all the dirty details of John’s extramarital affair, but is acting out of loyalty and is not asking a lot of questions – just writing the checks.”

John Edwards has spoken only briefly (and awkwardly) in sort of denying the story.

Today in the Rob Lowe nanny saga, we ask:

Why would Sheryl Lowe invite Laura Boyce on vacation - then sue her right after?

In court documents, Laura Boyce says she had no contact with Sheryl Lowe after she quit her gig last November - that is, until she received a saccharine voice mail at the end of March, inviting her on vacation with the Lowes.

One can magine Boyce's surprise as - a week later - Lowe did a 180 and sued her.

Also sued? Fellow nanny Jessica Gibson. The nerve of some people!

Boyce says she quit the Lowe house after she says Sheryl snickered during a phone call that the nanny got "strep throat from sucking n***er d**k."

Laura was dating former NBA star Dale Davis at the time.
