When the late Joan Rivers went to Yorkville Endoscopy for a supposedly routine procedure, she received an experience that was anything but routine.

Rivers’ female ear, nose and throat doctor stepped in once Dr. Lawrence Cohen, Rivers’ gastroenterologist, discovered something on her vocal cords.

The ENT, who wasn’t authorized to perform medical procedures at the clinic, took over and began a biopsy - one which was reportedly not authorized.

Once it began, her vocal cords began to swell.

Not only was the ENT not supposed to be treating Rivers, investigators were told that she snapped selfie with the Fashion Police star while she was under anesthesia.

Obviously, that constitutes a major violation of privacy, as she did not give her consent to have her picture taken, and is pretty much the tackiest thing ever.

Snoop Dogg is under fire for a homophobic slur he apparently made on social media.

The slur appeared on his Twitter and Instagram feeds early Monday morning, when he posted a photo of two men lying in bed together, along with a message.

"U n ya boyfriend since u like Jumpn on my page disrespectn bitch boy go suck ya man n get off my line f. A. G.," said Snoop, who deleted it 30 minutes later.

So far, neither the rapper nor his reps have commented on the surprising post.

The gay slur, if he indeed wrote it, comes as a surprise for a man who rarely has problems with anyone and who has indicated he supports gay marriage.

"Satisfy yourself accordingly," he said in a recent interview on the subject.

"I have no issues with nobody ... I live for me and I live my life doing what I do, so you should have the right to do whatever you want to do as well."

Last week, CBS and the NFL nixed plans to use the song "Run This Town" for their broadcast intro for Thursday's Baltimore Ravens vs. Pittsburgh Steelers game.

Yesterday, Rihanna ripped into CBS on Twitter, accusing the network of victimizing her and offering a terse response to their plans to use the planned intro for next week's game instead: "F--k you!"

Rihanna is an Icon

Now, RiRi is going a step further and claiming that the NFL and CBS had no right use her song in the first place.

In fact, she says she only found out that her 2009 collaboration with Jay-Z was to be featured in the broadcast when a friend sent her a press release reporting that it was already a done deal.

In the wake of the Ray Rice scandal that's still sending shockwaves through the league, producers claimed they felt the intro featuring Rihanna's hook, and narration by Don Cheadle would be inappropriately light-hearted.

This has been the worst PR week in the history of the National Football League.

Star Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has basically admitted to child abuse. Ray Rice knocked out then-fianee Janay Palmer with a punch, shedding light on other domestic violence cases in the NFL and the league's lax policy when it comes to alleged offenders.

It's been a nightmare for (awful) Commissioner Roger Goodell, but it's also just been a couple new examples of a sad trend: athletes in trouble with the law, with their wives or just with the public in general.

From performance-enhancing drug use... to the banging of so many cocktail waitresses... to one of the most heinous acts and most despicable individuals imaginable, we rundown 14 scandals below that made us ashamed to cheer on our favorite teams or athletes:

LIAR!
Lance Armstrong denied it and denied it, but he eventually came clean: yes, he cheated to win every Tour de France.

CoverGirl has created a picture that says 1,000 words.

And none of them are positive when it comes to the NFL.

As the official beauty partner of the league, CoverGirl opened the 2014 season by releasing a number of posters that encouraged female fans to get their “game face on.”

With the help of CoverGirl cosmetics, of course. It seemed like a great marketing campaign ... before the Ray Rice video in which which he knocked out his fiancee.

Questions arose over why Commissioner Roger Goodell - already under fire for Rice's modest two-game suspension - needed TMZ to find this footage for him.

The league ultimately suspended Rice indefinitely, but the public remains furious, and one fan used Photoshop to alter the look of the CoverGirl model.

Can you spot the change in the Ravens-inspired ad?

With the former Baltimore running back now cut from the team - and with many wondering what Goodell knew and when he knew it - the image has gone viral.

Earlier today, Adrian Peterson was reinstated by the Minnesota Vikings.

He'll be on the field next Sunday when the team goes up against the New Orleans Saints.

Not long after Minnesota made that announcement, the star running back - who has been arrested on charges of reckless/negligent injury to a child - issued a lengthy statement in which he addressed his controversial actions as a parent.

"I never wanted to be a distraction to the Vikings organization, the Minnesota community or to my teammates," Peterson says.

"I never imagined being in a position where the world is judging my parenting skills or calling me a child abuser because of the discipline I administered to my son."

Peterson has admitted to whooping his son with a switch after the four-year old acted out during a visit over the summer.

Daniele Watts is standing strong, loudly and proudly.

The actress, best known for her role in Django Unchained, was detained by the police last Thursday after authorities received a complaint that Watts and her boyfriend were engaged in a lewd public act.

The incident then escalated after Watts refused to give the officer her ID, claiming she and her boyfriend were only under suspicion due to the contrasting colors of their skin.

Does Watts have any regrets? Days later, does she wish she had handled things differently?

Speaking to News Day co-host Michaela Pereira today about the confrontation, Watts stood by her actions.

Miley Cyrus kept her clothes on for a performance in San Juan over the weekend.

But now the singer is under fire for wearing something extra on stage.

During a performance of the track "23," Cyrus donned a prosthetic rear end while Twerking, with some in attendance even noting that the fake body part was a darker shade than Miley's skin color.

See for yourself:

Cyrus and a few fellow artists (Katy Perry, Taylor Swift) have drawn ire over the past several months for stereotyping African-American women, either using them as faceless props to Twerk or outwardly mocking them, as Miley appears to be doing here.

New information has come to light regarding Daniele Watts and her unusual run-in with police last Thursday.

As previously reported, the actress (Django Unchained, Weeds) was detained by cops in North Hollywood after they received a call complaining that Watts and her boyfriend were engaged in an act of "indecent exposure," according to the police statement.

In a Facebook post, Watts said she was handcuffed and embarrassed simply for "showing affection" while "fully clothed' and in a "public place" with Brian James Lucas.

But audio has now surfaced that shines a different light on the story.
