Penn State President Rodney Erickson took a new step yesterday to ensure no scandal affects his university ever again.

Erickson announced the appointment of an "Ethics Officer," telling the Penn State community via email that the goal is to "revisit all standards, policies and programs to ensure they meet not only the law, but Penn State's standard."

Penn State wide receivers coach Mike McQueary, who witnessed Jerry Sandusky allegedly rape a boy in the team's locker room in 2002, won't coach this weekend.

Early yesterday, the professional ballplayer was reportedly taken by four armed men in his native country of Venezuela, according to The Associated Press. He has not been heard from since.

Here we go again: A pregnant reality star who dated Mel Gibson briefly during the summer is telling friends that the actor is the father of her unborn baby.

Laura Bellizzi, 35, and Gibson, 55, denied the claim when contacted for comment, and a source close to Gibson insists that it’s “physically impossible.”

Penn State football coach Joe Paterno has been fired amid the sexual abuse scandal that has roiled the university. He announced yesterday he would retire at season's end, only to be dismissed immediately just hours later.

The university's board of trustees voted late Wednesday night to fire Paterno.
