This is just silly.

Tony Kornheiser, a former Washington Post columnist and ESPN radio show host, has been suspended by the network for criticizing the wardrobe of SportsCenter anchor Hannah Storm.

Last week, Kornheiser opened his show by critiquing the clothing Storm donned while she hosted a morning edition of SportsCenter. His exact words:

Hannah Storm in a horrifying, horrifying outfit today. She's got on red go-go boots and a catholic school plaid skirt. Way too short for somebody in her 40s or maybe early 50s by now. And she's got on her typically very, very tight shirt. So she looks like she's got sausage casing wrapping around her upper body... I know she's very good, and I'm not supposed to be critical of ESPN people..But, Hannah Storm, come on now!

Kornheiser later called Storm to apologize and also publicly apologized for the comments. He told his listeners today:

"I apologize, unequivocally. I'm a sarcastic, subversive guy... I'm a troll, look at me. I have no right to insult what anybody looks like or what anybody wears. That, I think, should go without saying."

ESPN has suspended the host for two weeks. We get it, you can't exactly call out a co-worker in the fashion with which he referenced Storm. (THG note: Free Britney once called my cut-off T-shirt "cheap" and was forced to fetch my coffee for a month.)

But Kornheiser makes ESPN gobs of money by co-hosting Pardon the Interruption. His biting, sardonic attitude is a major appeal for fans that watch the show.

Moreover, by suspending Kornheiser, the network has actually made national news of a story that few would have noticed if no punishment had been handed down. Ironic.

Jayson Williams is going to prison.

The former NBA star was sentenced to five years in jail today for the 2002 crime of fatally shooting a hired limousine driver. He will be eligible for parole in 18 months.

Last month, Williams pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in the death of Costas Christofi on February 14, 2002. He was convicted on four counts of covering up the shooting in a 2004 trial.

A clearly disturbed, dangerous person, Williams drove drunk - and into oncoming traffic - earlier this year. He averaged 13.6 rebounds per game as a member of the New Jersey Nets in 1997-98.

In court today, State Superior Court Judge Edward Coleman went along with a plea agreement that spelled out the five-year prison sentence and the potential for Williams to be released as early as summer 2011.

Choking away tears, Williams spoke out in court and apologized to Andrea Adams, Christofi's sister. He said:

"There's not a day I wake up that I don't feel sorry for what I did to Mr. Christofi and that I put you through this."

He'll have a long time in prison to consider those actions and, hopefully, turn his life around.

After its relentless reporting blew the lid off the John Edwards-Rielle Hunter cheating scandal, the National Enquirer is in the running for a Pulitzer Prize.

Does it deserve to be nominated - or even win it?

Laugh if you want, but the Enquirer’s coverage of Edwards' double life is being considered for investigative reporting and national news reporting awards.

The story of his affair and love child with Rielle Hunter were ignored, dismissed, and ignored again until finally being vindicated by mainstream media.

The significance of the story, the New York Times notes, is the fact that Democratic Party came dangerously close to nominating this man for the presidency.

This would have been a disgrace of unparalleled proportions.

Yet only in the National Enquirer was the truth about John Edwards’ recklessness, and the grim reality behind his doting-husband facade, exposed.

Rielle Hunter Baby: Frances Quinn Hunter

The National Enquirer did us a favor exposing this loser.

The mainstream media's hesitation to run the story might be defended as the high ground, a means to a less sex-obsessed culture, which is somewhat noble.

But the celebrity gossip machine will grind on regardless.

If Americans aren’t reading about Edwards and Rielle Hunter, they’ll just read about Tiger Woods and Rachel Uchitel (also broken by the Enquirer, natch).

Better the former than the latter, right? Woods' apology made clear that we may be interested, but it's his business and he will talk only when he wants.

Tiger may have opened himself up to incredible scrutiny and criticism with his inappropriate actions, but to a certain point it's his problem to deal with.

Not so with John Edwards. Athletes and talk show hosts don’t work for us, but politicians' dalliances tend to interfere with, and often corrupt, their jobs.

Not all affairs produce corruption, and we don’t have to know every sin committed. But with Edwards, imagine if we found out only after it was too late?

We're just saying.

Throughout his professional wrestling career, Ric Flair had a saying: To be the man, you've got to beat the man.

His wife of three months apparently took those words literally: Jacqueline Beems was arrested last night for allegedly assaulting the former WCW and WWE great.

Several media outlets say the police were called to the couple's Charlotte residence last night, just prior to midnight. The official police report states Fair suffered minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene.

No weapons were used in the alleged attack and Beems was released from jail earlier this afternoon.

The wrestler - who often refers to himself as a "limousine ridin', jet flying, kiss stealin', wheelin' dealin', son of a gun" - has been married four times.

Snowboarder Scotty Lago bolted the Winter Olympics after a racy photo surfaced of him inviting girls to kiss his bronze medal. While it hung around his waist.

The third-place finisher in the men's halfpipe snowboarding event voluntarily left after the risque photos of a woman kissing and biting his ... medal surfaced.

The 22-year-old free spirit was snapped with his bronze medal around his waist and the hardware hung over his groin area on a public street late Thursday.

Pretty rad display all around. A second shot showed a woman biting the medal, but this time Scotty Lago held it up by the logo on his Team USA T-shirt.

Hey, a dude's gotta celebrate.

KISS OFF: Snowboarder Scotty Lago is in hot water with the U.S. Olympic Committee and Snowboard Association after inviting the ladies to kiss deez bronze medalz.

In response to the controversy, Lago apologized to the U.S. Olympic Committee and the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association, which required its athletes to attend a special program prior to the games to avoid potential PR nightmares.

That was time well spent! Association President and CEO Bill Marolt said:

"Scotty Lago is a great athlete, but with that talent comes a responsibility of proper conduct, and his involvement in this situation is not acceptable."

"With that said, Scotty realizes that his conduct was inappropriate. He has formally apologized and also made a decision to leave Vancouver today."

Reports say his "voluntary" departure was prompted by an ultimatum from the U.S. Olympic Committee: say you're sorry and go or we kick you out.

No further action against the Seabrook, N.H. native appears likely. In other Olympics news, how about those Lindsey Vonn photos?! Hot damn!

A national arrest warrant has been issued in France against U.S. cyclist Floyd Landis in connection with a hacking operation in which he allegedly attempted to change the results of a failed drug test. That's not one you hear every day!

Landis has been linked to a case involving stolen computer data from an anti-drug laboratory. French judge Thomas Cassuto is seeking to question Landis about his alleged connection to a hacking operation that targeted the lab.

That sounds like the most poorly-hatched plot since John Edwards' idea to gank a diaper from his love child and bribe a doctor to fake a paternity test.

Nice try, Floyd Landis. But we have to give you credit for trying to cheat the system to cover up your previous cheating of the system. Go big or go home, right?

Pierre Bordry, the president of the French anti-doping agency, accused Floyd Landis of having a link to the computer hackers. Cassuto also issued a national warrant for Arnie Baker, a longtime Floyd Landis coach and adviser.

"Landis used the hacked files for his defense," said Bordry, referring to Landis' infamous appeal before an anti-doping arbitration hearing in California.

"He wanted to show the lab made mistakes in handling the tests."

Landis was stripped of his 2006 Tour de France victory after testing positive for high levels of testosterone. His appeal of the decision was rejected.

Women. You can't live with 'em ... if you're Dennis Hopper.

The 73-year-old has filed legal papers in his bitter divorce, and his doctor claims the less he has to do with his estranged wife, Victoria, the longer he'll live.

The actor's lawyer, Joe Mannis, says while his client battles advanced prostate cancer, Victoria has "repeatedly subjected him to severe emotional distress."

He's not kidding, either According to Dr. David Agus' declaration, "The presence of his estranged wife is hampering Mr. Hopper's present cancer care..."

"It is my belief and my recommendation that the less Mr. Hopper has to do with his estranged wife, the more likely he is to have his life extended."

This marriage may be in worse shape than Tiger and Elin Woods'.

Dennis is asking the judge for an order keeping Victoria 15 yards away from him and barring her from his residence. Probably not the worst idea.

Dennis filed for divorce against Victoria last month. She claims in response that Dennis' adult children are pulling his strings and want to cut her out of his will.

In their declarations, Dennis and his doctor say he is of sound mind to make his own decisions. If they divorce, she loses a 25 percent cut of Dennis' estate.

Hopper says that Victoria's mother "...told me in November 2009 that I should leave the bulk of my property to [Victoria] as I was going to die soon."

"I found this statement distressing, inappropriate, bizarre, and disturbing."

Dennis also says Victoria and her mom grilled him late one night in December about how much money and property Victoria would get when he died.

As for Victoria's claims that Dennis smoked medical marijuana in front of their young girl, he says he has never smoked anything in front of the child.

Dennis says Victoria's demand that he not smoke within six hours of seeing their daughter is "an absurd request." He says he would agreed to one hour.

Dennis is asking for daily visitation rights to 6-year-old Galen.

Sometimes, Christianity is subject to interpretation. Some believe the death penalty is immoral, for example; others feel it is the only just solution at times.

Beating your wife because she isn't "putting God first," however? It's hard to see a way in which Christ would justify that one. Sorry, Evander Holyfield.

Evander Holyfield Pic

The former world heavyweight champ always made it clear he had no plans to retire from fighting - we just didn't know he was referring to the bedroom!

His current and third wife, Candi Holyfield, called the police after the couple got into a fight at their home last week. It all started because it was cold.

The Real Housewives of Orange County writers have come up with an exciting twist for Tamra Barney this season.

Just weeks after she was served divorce papers by her husband of 11 years, Simon, Barney has confirmed that she's moved one... to Simon's best friend Eddie Judge!

Derek Lowe Mug Shot

Moreover, the scorned, soon-to-be ex learned of his wife's dalliance by witnessing it himself in a scene likely caught by Bravo cameras. Simon says he was at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas this weekend, walked into a club around midnight and:

"I saw Tamra with a friend of mine, Eddie Judge,” he told RadarOnline.com. "I saw them holding hands and acting like a couple. As soon as Tamra saw me she let go of his hand and walked away. I went up to Eddie  and asked him if he's (bleeping) my wife.  He didn't say a word.

"I  couldn't believe what I had just witnessed - the ultimate betrayal by a pal and my estranged wife."

Nice soundbite! Kudos to whichever writer fed Simon that line.

Simon adds that he fell to his knees at the time and was helped out of the hotel by a series producer doorman.

Barney, pictured above with Judge, admits to the relationship with her ex-husband's close friend. She said:

""I started dating Eddie Judge last week... We are romantically involved, he is a great guy. It was bound to happen that we both we would dating again after [Simon] filed for divorce.

"I don't know what the future holds with Eddie and only time will tell."

Time, and script writers, that is. We're guessing they're hard at work on a suspense-filled conclusion to this storyline.

In a follow-up to a story we posted earlier today, Conrad Murray has been officially charged with involuntary manslaughter and has entered a plea of not guilty.

The documents were filed in court today by the Los Angeles District Attorney, who alleges Murray “did unlawfully, and without malice, kill Michael Joseph Jackson." Those are haunting words just to read, aren't they?

Meanwhile, the county coroner released his official findings at the hearing and there's no doubt about it: a lethal dosage of Propofol killed the singer. Eleven vials of the drug were found in Jackson's home, and none of had prescription directions, patient or doctor names.

Murray, MJ

According to the coroner's report, obtained by TMZ, homicide is cited as the cause of death because...

  1. The setting of Jackson's bedroom (e.g.  a chair alongside the bed) indicate the drugs were not self-administered.
  2. Propofol was injected in a non-hospital setting, without any appropriate medical indication.
  3. Suggested equipment for patient monitoring, precision dosing and resuscitation were not present.

After the DA originally asked for bail to be set at $300,000, the judge set it at $75,000. He forced Murray to hand over his passport and decreed that the doctor cannot be in possession of, or prescribe, anesthetics.

If Murray is found guilty, he'll face a maximum of four years in prison.

Even if he's acquitted of these criminal charges, the family can sue Murray for millions, according to Bill Newkirk, a lawyer who specializes inmedical malpractice.

"This is absolutely a slam-dunk malpractice case simply because of the alleged use of propofol. If the drug was indeed in his system, no competent doctor could justify why it was used. You can bet the Jackson family will be filing a civil claim soon against any doctors implicated in Jackson's medical care."
