Olympian Gabby Douglas has two gold medals - and a new hairstyle!

The 16-year-old became a national hero in London, but also endured more than her fair share of undue criticism, as Gabby Douglas' hair became a sticking point for some.

In any case, Douglas debuted a new style yesterday, and she looked terrific! Check out Gabby's hair down, and in its more familiar style, below:

Douglas' longer locks were crafted by celebrity hair stylist Ted Gibson.

"A special thank you to my Gold Medal Celebrity Hair Stylist! @tedgibsonbeauty," Gabby tweeted Wednesday before debuting the new look.

Douglas, Kyla Ross, Aly Raisman, McKayla Maroney and Jordyn Weiber are all making the media rounds after their dazzling Olympics efforts.

Hey, did you hear that Miley Cyrus chopped off most of her hair? And dyed it blonde?

It's true. Photos are all over the singer's Twitter account, as are a series of defensive statements and inspirational quotes in response to mounting criticism over the look.

It's all about self love, Cyrus wrote yesterday.

Ellen DeGeneres vs. Miley

But there's at least one celebrity who doesn't just like Miley's new look... she's copied it!

Despite already owning a hairstyle not too dissimilar from Cyrus' new short locks, Ellen DeGeneres Tweeted the above image of herself in a wig and gave the 19-year old props today, writing that she loves the revamped 'do.

What do you think? Which of these stars wears this cut better?

Say hello to the new Miley Cyrus.

After dyeing her hair blonde and cutting off a couple inches last month, the 19-year old has taken scissors to her locks once again - and really changed up her look!

“Never felt more me in my whole life," Cyrus Tweeted along with this photo, while also posting another and adding: most successful Sally day EVER!

Anticipating backlash, however, Miley wrote:

“if you don’t have something nice to say don’t say anything at all. my hair is attached to my head no one else’s and it’s going bye bye! :)”

You tell us, readers: do you have anything nice to say? What do you think of this drastic haircut?

Attention, Gabby Douglas hair critics: Natalie Hawkins has two words for you:

Enough already!

Douglas' mom is in mama grizzly mode this week, speaking out to defend her daughter and her spunky ponytail in the wake of unexpected controversy.

"How ignorant is it of people to comment on her hair and she still has more competitions to go?" Natalie fumed. "Are you TRYING to ruin her self confidence?"

Gabby Hair

Although she has won two gold medals in gymnastics, the 16-year-old is making headlines for more than her historic Olympic victories in London.

Specifically, some have lambasted Gabby Douglas' hair for its appearance and her supposed failure to "represent" the African-American community.

Douglas' chemically-straightened hair, pulled into a ponytail with barrettes and gel, matches the coifs of her four Caucasian "Fab Five" teammates.

Aly Raisman, McKayla Maroney, Kyla Ross and Jordyn Wieber haven't been assailed for their look, however. But it's not just the style that is under fire.

Chiefly, it seems to be the fact that the 4-foot-11 Gabby is an African American rocking a straightened - in other words, not natural - hairstyle.

Oh, Justin Bieber went there!

In an interview with Great Britain's Rollercoaster magazine, the formerly shaggy-haired singer took aim at British royalty and said of Prince William's scalp:

"I mean, there are things to prevent that nowadays... I don't know why he doesn't just get those things, those products. You just take Propecia and your hair grows back. Have you not got it over here?"

  • Justin Bieber Salute
  • Prince William Hair Line

The response from our pals overseas? Not positive.

According to journalist Jessica Callancitizens (via The Huffington Post), residents "are viewing Justin Bieber's diss about Prince William's challenging hair problem in the same way you view an annoying fly buzzing around you. He needs to be swatted away... Will and Prince Harry may joke about William's thinning hair, but that doesn't mean a kid like Justin can come sauntering in and join in the joke."

In a previous interview, Bieber also insulted Canadian Aboriginals.

What do you make of his comments regarding William's hair?

Bobak Ferdowsi, mission controller for the NASA Mars Curiosity, has become a quasi-star on Twitter after a photo of him was released Monday morning.

Nicknamed the "NASA Mohawk Guy" and/or the "hot nerd," Bobak can largely thank his 'do - with its red streaks and bleached stars - for his 15 minutes.

Not that he's interested in it. For Ferdowsi, it's all about the mission, which saw the NASA Curiosity rover land on Mars Monday in a watershed moment.

Bobak Ferdowsi

Ferdowsi became the talk of social media after the above image appeared in a montage of photos released by news outlets after Curiosity's landed.

Although his hair, smile and work with Curiosity are tailor-made for viral stardom, Bobak is still getting used to having all (or any) eyes on him.

"Internet, you win this round. I'll be back later, but thanks so much. Now going to celebrate with all my friends and team! #msl," Ferdowsi tweeted.

"Not rdy for the attention, but happy to show it takes all types to make @MarsCuriosity! Now if only my coworkers wld stop making fun of me ;)."

There has even been a Tumblr made in his honor, which advises NASA to get more mohawks in the building ... hard to argue with that campaign.

Miley Cyrus debuted her new hair color and cut in mid-July, but she just ran it back on Twitter in order to give props to the man behind the revised look.

The young star has posted a couple new photos on her account, singling out stylist Chris McMillan - the man behind Jennifer Aniston's famous "Rachel" 'do on Friends - and writing:

"I think the most important thing a woman can have - next to talent, of course is her hairdresser. @chrismcMillan thanks duuuuude."

Cyrus (and her old hair) is also featured in the latest issue of Marie Claire, opening up about her engagement to Liam Hemsworth.

American teenager Gabby Douglas has been wowing the world with grace, style, and of course, the women's all-around gymnastics gold medal.

Nevertheless, much of the chatter on social media and online platforms has been about the upkeep of her hair, and not all feedback is positive.

Douglas, one of the few African-American gymnasts ever to compete in the Olympics and the first to win all-around gold, is an inspiring story.

Time and Sports Illustrated have her on their covers. President Barack Obama called to congratulate her. So why do people care about Gabby Douglas' hair?!

Gabby Douglas Hair

“I love how she’s doing her thing and winning,’’ says 22-year-old Latisha Jenkins of Detroit told The Daily Beast. “But I just hate the way her hair looks."

"With all those pins and gel ... I wish someone could have helped her make it look better since she’s being seen all over the world."

"She representing for black women everywhere.’’

According to reports, the 4'11" Douglas appears to have chemically relaxed natural hair, to which she adds a human-hair ponytail for height.

The Olympic champ then apparently slicks it all back with a heavy layer of gel to help it stay in place during her high-energy performances.

Gabby Douglas Ponytail

Hair has always been something of a hot button issue for African-American women culturally, but in the case of Douglas, isn't the criticism a little much?

Douglas’ accomplishments speak for themselves ... for the conversation to turn to a teenager’s physical appearance and upkeep seems a bit unfair.

Do you like her hair? Does it matter? Tell us what you think.

Oprah Winfrey lets her natural hair down - and out - in the new issue of O, The Magazine, which shows her coiffure "in its natural state" for the first time.

Winfrey admits she almost went bald, or at least very close-cropped, but Bill Cosby talked her out of it. Smart move by Bill, as O's hair is still looking great.

Check our her natural hairstyle on the cover of O:

In The Makeover Issue, Winfrey also says the only beauty changes that really work are "those in which something inside the receiver clicks, aligning with that which is being received ... the only way to real transformation is through the mind."

Deep thoughts from the talk show queen.

What do you think of Oprah's hair?
