Levi Johnston has been working out like a madman to prepare for his Playgirl photo shoot. He's also looking to gobble up massive amounts of publicity and attention high-protein moose meat whenever he can go hunting.

The 19-year-old baby daddy of Bristol Palin definitely didn't shoot blanks when he knocked her up last year, so you best believe he uses live ammo, if you follow.

"Moose meat is very good for you, high in protein and very lean," his trainer, Marvin Jones, told People magazine. "[Levi] is an avid hunter, so he has his own."

He's adopted a 3,500-calorie low-carb diet as part of a grueling regimen to ready him for next month's highly-anticipated Levi Johnston nude photo shoot.

Johnston works out three hours a day, six days a week, followed by cardio training and then rest in the sauna. It's a tough life, but someone's gotta do it.

Whether he's hunting moose or sleeping with Sarah Palin's daughter, Levi Johnston does not mess around. The safety is definitely not on, if you know what we mean.

"I'm not trying to give him that body builder look. He's going to be more toned and defined," says Jones. "I'd like to see him with rounder and more muscular shoulders, with a fuller chest. We're going to firm his abs up,  give him a smaller waist."

Levi has also been milking his 15 minutes of fame to death paying bills by busting a nut in an ad for Wonderful Pistachios. Is this a great country, or what?

He may not have ever really been engaged to Bristol Palin, but Johnston is wholly committed to the training sessions, according to his fitness coordinator.

"I know this is something he wants to do and we're having fun training," says Jones. "We're very much  looking forward to revealing all his hard work!"

Robert Pattinson isn't the only major celebrity covering a random magazine this month.

First Lady Michelle Obama is featured in the latest issue of Prevention, dishing on her diet and her work out routine.

"I love French fries, I like a good burger, and I like pie. And that's okay. I would be depressed if I felt I could never eat the things that I love," Obama says, raving about the White House's cooking staff.

She adds that she can treat herself to such fare because she wakes up at 4:30 a.m. each morning to exercise. The workouts vary between Pilates, cardio, stretching, and weights.

"I enjoy arm exercises because you can see what it's hitting," she said, citing the impressive biceps that have made such headlines over the last few months.

From fashion to dieting, there's little Michelle Obama is not an expert on.

Ironically, while her husband receives rebukes from some liberals for being too moderate, Michelle singles out moderation as the key to any healthy diet.

"I don't want my girls to be obsessed about food," she said. "We don't have a 'no junk food' rule – I just want them to think about their choices. When my older daughter asks, 'Can I have pie?' I'll say, 'Did you have it yesterday? Well, what do you think?' And she'll come to the conclusion that, 'You know, you're right, I shouldn't eat pie every night.'"

Wow. Exercise and a balanced diet? What a novel concept for weight loss! Call us crazy, but Michelle Obama might be a better role model in this area than Kim Kardashian.

In order to lose weight, Kim Kardashian has totally sold out, signing on as a pitchwoman for QuickTrim, a ridiculous dieting cleanse.

Conversely, Jennifer Love Hewitt has taken an obvious path to weight loss. The actress, who caught fire for a bikini photo of herself last year, admits she's insecure like everyone else.

"I'm a girl, after all! For the most part, I'm happy with my body, but there are days when I'm like, 'Why is it so hard to fit into my jeans?' That's when I say to myself, 'I look this way because I'm supposed to. If we all looked the same, we'd be boring.'"

Taking Shape

When those thoughts arise, Hewitt told Shape the steps she takes to dieting:

Eat Lunch. "Not that long ago, I went to this celebrity luncheon, and I was the only person in the room eating. The other girls looked at me like I hadn't gotten the memo, but I was hungry! All of these girls were afraid that if someone saw them eating, it would be a disaster. It makes no sense at all."

Talk to Yourself. "In the morning, before I leave the house, I say five things I love about myself, like 'You have really pretty eyes.' That way I can go out into the world with that little bit of extra confidence. It's a feel-good protein shake in my back pocket in case someone messes with me that day."

Eat well... like boyfriend Jamie Kennedy! He's inspired me to improve my diet. He has a salad with every meal, plus lots of fruit, fish, and vegetables."

Exercise. "Last summer we were in Monaco. Every morning we ran for 40 minutes through the streets of Monte Carlo. It was an amazing way to see the city. Now when we travel, we try to explore the places by running."

In the wake of getting dumped hard by Tony Romo on the eve of her 29th birthday, Jessica Simpson has decided on the way to get the sweetest revenge.

Or OK! Magazine has at least decided on it for her so it can sell magazines.

Either way, Jessica Simpson is looking to sweat it out at the gym. Yay!

“Right after Tony ended things, Jessica Simpson said, ‘I want my old body back,’” a friend of the singer reveals in the new issue of the celeb news tabloid.

“She went into her kitchen, got a trash bag and started to clear it out.”

Getting rid of the bad food isn’t the only way she’s slimming down. Jessica, who was locked out of Tony Romo's gated community, has taken refuge multiple times at her friend and celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak’s fitness center.

“Jessica is serious about getting her body back into fighting shape,” her friend reveals. “Working out is helping to give her focus and clear her head."

Adds this supposed Jessica source, "It’s better than sitting around moping, throwing pity parties with ice cream sundaes.” Well yeah. But would she?

The results are starting to show - Jessica, whose weight gain has often been the subject of celeb gossip, dropped 10 pounds in just the first 10 days!

"She doesn’t want to give anyone reason to not take her seriously,” says the pal.

This pal is apparently unaware that it will take more than dropping 10 pounds for us to start taking her seriously, and that her figure was probably not the reason she got dumped. Being pathetic, needy and annoying? More likely.

Sister Kim Kardashian may be the one with the famous figure, but Khloe is really koming into her own with a svelte new shape, having dropped 20 pounds.

"I try to do 30 minutes of cardio, mandatory," Khloe konfessed. "Obviously if I have more time, I want to do weights, but really cardio is what works for me because I'm bigger. Cardio leans me out, and still works muscle definition too."

To avoid a monotonous routine, she makes sure to switch hers up.

"I do different kinds everyday because I get really bored. I do boxing, I go on hikes, I do stairs," Khloe Kardashian says. "I'm always switching it up."

At diet and exercise, Khloe Kardashian krushes the kompetition.

Khloe - who will star with sister Kourtney in a new reality series, Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami, this August - is more than happy with how far she's come.

"It's hard work, but it's worth it, and once you start seeing results, it really keeps you motivated," she says. "Now I actually get excited. I'm like 'I've got to start seeing arm definition soon,' so I go to the gym."

A for her dieting secrets?

"I eat whatever I want until noon. From noon on, I watch what I eat," says Khloe, who said she's launching a diet product called Quick Trim with Kim. Really.

"I only drink champagne. 100 calories in a glass, and I'm good."

Blake Lively is known for wearing ridiculously sexy outfits on the set of Gossip Girl, but the 21-year-old star doesn't do anything special to look good in them.

"I do panic before I have to wear a really skimpy outfit, but I don't have enough willpower," she says of dieting in the August issue of UK Glamour Magazine.

"I had to do a scene in a bra and shorts for the first time in two years ... On the day of the shoot, I ate a pork burrito, chips and a coke. Afterwards, I thought, 'I probably shouldn't have done that.' But hey, whatever."

So maybe she doesn't eat right, but she exercises, right?

"I have never worked out, but I know you always feel better when you do," the blonde Burbank, Calif., native says, "so I'm planning on getting a trainer.”

Lively says despite all the cattiness that exists in Gossip Girl, on and off the set, she gets along very well with her costars: "We hang out after filming, and actually look forward to spending time together outside of work."

That includes her real-life leading man Penn Badgley, although she admits it wasn't always the case - she was unhappy when he was cast on the series at first.

"At first I was so upset that they hired him," she says.

"I actually poisoned the whole cast against him. But then they noticed that he was not a jerk and was actually a really nice, charming person. Almost immediately I realized that too, but it took me about a week to admit it."

In an exclusive interview with WooMeTV, Stephanie Pratt of The Hills took a break from her busy schedule of being annoying and doing nothing to come clean to fans (which apparently she has) about her experience with the "master cleanse" diet.

We'd sum it up for you, but Stephanie, who recently opened up about battling bulimia on the cover of Us Weekly, is just so painful to listen to that we sort of tuned out 30 or 40 seconds in. Sorry. We can only endure so much punishment.

Former Jenny Craig spokeswoman Kirstie Alley may want to get back on that horse. The actress recently put on, oh 10-20 pounds ... give or take 60-70.

When the star - who won an Emmy Award during her seven-year stint on Cheers, but is perhaps better known for her extreme weight gains and losses that followed - stepped on a scale for the first time in 15 months, it wasn't pretty.

"I started screaming," Alley tells People in its new cover story. "It said 228, which is my highest weight ever. I was much more disgusting than I thought!"

But looking back, Kirstie Alley, 58, is hardly shocked.

During her three-year stint as the face (and body) of Jenny Craig, she trimmed down to an impressive 145 lbs. after losing, and keeping off, 75 lbs.

But since parting ways with the company she was so closely tied to in 2007, she had not worked out and banished her gym equipment to the garage.

Obviously.

This celebrity's diet or small, low-calorie portions gave way to Chinese takeout and pasta drenched with butter. "I fell off the horse," she says.

Today, Alley says she is primed to hire a trainer, toss the butter and sign up for a triathlon in order to whittle her "schlumpy" figure back down.

"I'm going to have to work harder than last time," says Allie after candidly admitting she went all Jessica Simpson on us, "but I'm way excited."

It seems all the media does is scrutinize the weight of stars.

If Jessica Simpson is seen in an unflattering pair of high-waisted jeans, she's fat. If Beyonce Knowles dons a gown that accentuates her curvy physique, she's fat.

Kim Kardashian will quickly leap to their defense, but it's still sad.

Fortunately, a celebrity story pertaining to weight loss came out today that you can get excited about! At age 48, Valerie Bertinelli has gotten her bikini bod back - and she's showing it off on the latest cover of People magazine.

Valerie Bertinelli has lost 50 pounds as she approaches 50 years.

Of course, it wasn't easy achieving her newly fit physique. It was an uphill battle. In April 2007, the former One Day at a Time star proclaimed, "I'm fat."

She was 5'2", weighed 172 pounds, and vowed to drop from a size 14 to a size 8.

Almost two years later now, the actress is in the best shape of her life after losing more than 50 pounds thanks to exercise and her Jenny Craig diet.

The star, who had last worn a bikini when she was 20, was ready for a new challenge: "I thought, If I'm so afraid of a bikini, there’s something wrong. And so I had to get back into one!," Valerie Bertinelli says in the new article.

And so – after about a year of exercising on her own while losing weight, primarily by walking 10,000 steps a day – she hired a personal trainer in December. Before long, Bertinelli was running up to five times a week and shedding pounds.

The rest, as they say, is history.
