Alan Ritchson better start learning how to shoot arrows and throw hunting knives. He'll need the practice.

The actor (Blue Mountain State, Supernatural) has joined the cast of Catching Fire, coming on board the upcoming Hunger Games sequel as Gloss, a Tribute who ends up competing in the Quarter Quell with his sister Cashmere.

“No words can express…To have the opportunity to portray Gloss in @TheHungerGames. To be a part of this great trilogy…just…so grateful," Ritchson Tweeted today.

Has the most anticipated new role in Catching Fire finally been cast?

Following chatter over pretty much every hunk in Hollywood - from Taylor Kitsch to Trevor Donovan to Armie Hammer - Variety reports that Lionsgate has gone with the somewhat surprising selection of Sam Claflin as Finnick Odair.

The actor, recently seen opposite Kristen Stewart in Snow White and the Huntsman, would come on board the sequel as an especially cocky, suave, sexy Tribute who interacts frequently with Katniss and Peeta.

Meanwhile… with Amanda Plummer set as Wiress, Philip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee and Jena Malone as Johanna, the magazine also says Melissa Leo is the frontrunner to portray Mags, while Tony Shalhoub is being courted for the role of Beetee.

Is Sam Claflin the right choice for Finnick?

Amanda Plummer has signed on for a role in Catching Fire.

The veteran actress and former Golden Globe Award nominee will star in The Hunger Games sequel as Wiress, an eccentric Tribute who becomes an important fellow player/friend to Jennifer Lawrence's Katniss.

A Broadway star, Plummer is likely best known to film fans for her role as "Honey Bunny" in Pulp Fiction.

While Catching Fire fans continue to await movie news on who will play Finnick, other characters are being snatched up.

Aside from Wiress, we know that Jena Malone will portray Johanna Mason and Philip Seymour Hoffman is a go for Plutarch Heavensbee.

Catching Fire will be released on November 22, 2013, while two-part final installment of Mockingjay will be hit theaters in 2014 and 2015.

The Catching Fire casting rumor has become an exciting reality: Philip Seymour Hoffman is coming on board The Hunger Games sequel.

According to an E! News source, the Oscar nominee has agreed to star in the second installment of this trilogy as Plutarch Heavensbee, the Gamesmaker who takes over for Seneca Crane following events in the original.

Says the site's insider: "The deal was made right before the Fourth of July holiday."

Hoffman most recently appeared on Broadway, alongside Andrew Garfield, in a revival of Arthur Miller's Death of Salesman. He'll join the Catching Fire cast when shooting begins this fall.

Jena Malone, meanwhile, has been offered the sought after role of Johanna Mason in the same film.

The Catching Fire casting carousel has landed on Jena Malone.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the former Sucker Punch actress is a frontrunner for the key role of Johanna Mason, a District 7 Tribute who doesn't get along too well with Katniss in Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games follow-up.

While Lionsgate has not yet commented on any casting rumors, and while names continue to be bantered about for both Johanna and Finnick Odair, no new actors or actresses have actually signed on yet.

It's unclear why. Kristen Bell is clearly perfect for Johanna and has made no secret of her passion for The Hunger Games.

Who do you think should portray Johanna Mason?

Hunter Parrish came oh-so-close to being cast as Peeta in The Hunger Games, so the actor knows to be careful this time around. He's trying not to get his hopes up.

However, the Weeds star is aware fans have started a campaign to attach him to Catching Fire in the role of Finnick Odair and he's attempt to remain humble, but...

"I think you just kind of step back, and if it happens, it happens," Parrish tells MTV of the rumor. "I'm not going to really spend too much time thinking about it, but I'd love to... I'm a fan of the books. I think there's fantastic actors that would probably be better. So there's that for getting me a job!"

It had previously been reported that three actors - Taylor Kitsch, Garrett Hedlund and Armie Hammer - were the finalists for the character, but the job appears to be wide open.

Do you think Parrish would be right for Finnick?

Who will portray Finnick Odair in Catching Fire? Let's table that debate for a moment and focus on another key role from The Hunger Games sequel.

Multiple sources confirm that Oscar winner and 2012 Tony Award nominee Philip Seymour Hoffman has been offered the character of Plutarch Heavensbee, the Gamemaker at the Capitol who takes over for Seneca Crane and who is far savvier than his predecessor.

He plays a pivotal part in the world of Katniss, Peeta and company over the course of the next book/film chapter.

Hoffman, one of the most respected actors alive, would be a major coup for new director Francis Lawrence. He just finished a run as Willy Loman in Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman on Broadway.

No word yet from the star or the studio, but come on. This has to happen, right?

We are reportedly down to three for the role of Finnick Odair.

With Robert Pattinson (thankfully) out of the running for this key Catching Fire character, E! News claims producers have narrowed their choices down to the following trio:

  1. Taylor Kitsch: Beloved Friday Night Lights star who anchored two of the biggest flops in Hollywood history, John Carter and Battleship.
  2. Armie Hammer: Oscar nominee and upcoming Lone Ranger opposite Johnny Depp as Tonto.
  3. Garrett Hedlund: Starring opposite Kristen Stewart in On the Road.

E! also claims The Hunger Games sequel might go with a relative nobody for Finnick, who is a former winner of the story's annual competition and possesses both a ridiculously amazing body and a cocky personality.

Which of these actors would be best suited for the part?

And the Winner is?
