The contestants on Rock the Cradle received a pleasant surprise Thursday - their audience doubled when Britney Spears showed up to watch the season finale in person and support her former manager, Larry Rudolph.

Rudolph is the producer of Rock The Cradle, which pits aspiring pop stars, all of whom have rock and roll in their DNA, against one another in a competition. Sort of like American Idol, only not at all popular.

Britney Spears spent the duration of the show seated backstage surrounded by security. After the show, Larry Rudolph told Us Weekly:

“She was here to support the show. I mentioned to her that I was going to my show. Britney said, ‘I want to come down.’ She loved it. She really loved it. She didn’t come here for publicity or anything like that. She came here because she wanted to see the show, which I appreciated.”

Spears headed to the show after spending the day with her two sons, Jayden James and Sean Preston. It was the first visit since she, along with parents Lynne and Jamie Spears, appeared in Los Angeles County Superior Court Tuesday for a custody hearing, where she was granted extended visitation rights.

Based on the outrage directed toward Miley Cyrus for her topless photo (pictured below) in Vanity Fair this month, you’d think the Disney actress was the first young celebrity to ever show some skin.

But this is far from the case.

We’ve uncovered a slew of celebrity pictures that show stars who may have been too young to drink alcohol during the following shoots, but certainly didn’t think they were too young to seduce the camera.

Over the past few weeks, celebrity gossip followers that have read through the Britney Spears section of our site have learned that the singer:

• Wears outfits with critters on them
• Attends her sister’s baby shower
• Is guest starring on an episode of one of TV’s highest-rated sitcoms

Do these really sound like the actions of an unfit mother?

Granted, Britney stumbled for a bit there.

Months ago, The Hollywood Gossip’s pages were filled with tales of Brit not wearing underwear, getting into traffic accidents, partying every night and dating a member of the paparazzi that may or may not have been a terrorist.

But is Spears not allowed to make mistakes, simply because she’s famous?

With Jamie Lynn Spears set to pop any week now, Britney realize she must serve as a role model to her younger sister. And her two sons, we suppose. With that - and her recent tame actions - in mind, anyone with a heart can only arrive at one conclusion:

We’re gonna take Rachel Bilson, personally. This may have something to do with the fact that she’s the only one of the three whose shaved vagina we haven’t seen on our website countless times. Or it may just be the color.

With Britney Spears embroiled in a seemingly never-ending custody battle and Jamie Lynn Spears expecting her first child in July, the May 2 wedding and baby shower for the latter provided some much-needed relaxation and fun!

“It was wonderful to be able to spend some time with her and just be girls again,” Jamie Lynn Spears told OK! Magazine in an exclusive interview about seeing her train wreck big sister for the first time in months.

“We painted our nails and did stupid stuff.”

Jamie Lynn, who has been laying low in their hometown of Kentwood, La., since Casey Aldridge knocked her up, was thankful for her privacy.

“To be able to be here in the privacy of our own home and just be sisters again was wonderful,” she said.

Britney Spears’ visitation rights with sons Sean Preston and Jayden James have been expanded following a hearing with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

There is no change in custody, K-Fed’s attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan said at a press conference, but overnight visits for Britney Spears (who has been without them for months) “will be phased in in the near future.”

“The court made orders today, orders that the parties were able to mostly agree to,” Kaplan said. “It represents a a cautious step moving forward.”

Mark Vincent Kaplan added that the court was “pleased with the progress that seems to be occurring” with Britney Spears daily, and said that he believes Tuesday’s court ruling is “a step in the right direction.

“The children (Sean Preston and Jayden James) are doing great — that’s the key,” Kaplan also said. “That’s what all of this is about.”

“I had such a great experience the last time I was on the show that I couldn’t wait to come back,” Britney Spears said in a statement.

“I was really looking forward to working with this cast and crew again. Everyone was so nice. Abby is going to have a lot of fun!”

The episode, “Everything Must Go,” airs next Monday, May 12.

Britney Spears plans to personally attend a hearing Tuesday in a Los Angeles family court, a court spokesman has confirmed.

“It’s a hearing to discuss the status of her case,” said court rep Allan Parachini of the long-anticipated custody battle court date.

Asked if her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, would show up in person as well, his lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan replied, “Kevin has been at every important hearing. I view Tuesday as an important hearing.”

Britney Spears, 26, returned to Los Angeles Sunday night after flying to Kentwood, La., to attend a baby shower for her pregnant 17-year-old l’il sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, over the weekend.

The pantsless pop princess presently has monitored visitation rights with her sons, Sean Preston Federline, 2, and Jayden James Federline, 1, several times per week (including Mother’s Day), but no overnight rights.

A report was completed by the ex-couple’s child custody evaluator in recent weeks, which could heavily influence future visitation arrangements.

The pop star’s father, Jamie Spears, and his lawyer, Andrew Wallet, remain in legal control of her affairs until at least a July 31 hearing.

Who says you can’t go home again?

NOTE: No one we know actually says that.

The adage certainly doesn’t apply to Britney Spears, who left California Friday and returned to her native Kentwood, La., marking her first trip back since before hospitalizations, custody battles and crazy no-pants-clubbing galore.

Also in town is Britney Spears‘ father, Jamie Spears, who remains in legal control of her personal, financial and medical affairs at least until a July 31 court hearing.

The troubled singer’s arrival in her home state comes as inside sources say there is a planned baby shower over the weekend for her 17-year-old sister Jamie Lynn Spears, who announced her pregnancy back in December.

Britney Spears, 26, last visited Kentwood in early 2007 for her aunt’s funeral. Accompanying her at the time was boyfriend Isaac Cohen.

What we’re driving at is the decision was made by her ex-husband Kevin Federline, based on “improved circumstances,” to let Britney see her two sons on Mother’s Day!
