Embattled actress, singer and America's Got Talent judge Brandy Norwood appears to be searching for some enlightment.

According to TMZ, the troubled Brandy finally surfaced in West Hollywood on Wednesday outside the Bodhi Tree bookstore, which specializes in New Age and other spiritual texts. Bet Britney Spears is on her way there as we speak!

The R&B diva and former Moesha star hasn't been seen on the town much since her involvement in a freeway crash that claimed a woman's life. But here she is:

Brandy, the sister of Ray J, has yet to hear if charges will be brought against her. She is seen here, notably, entering the passenger side of a shiny new silver Range Rover. Daaamn. Nice ride! Try not to kill someone with it!

Brandy was not under the influence of any kind during the accident, though she has been ruled at fault. The actress' car troubles follow the shocking, similar case of Lane Garrison, who's also staring at vehicular manslaughter charges.

Other notable, D-list celebrities to be busted for DUI in recent weeks are Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas, Vivica A. Fox and Laguna Beach star Jessica Smith.

R&B superstar Brandy may not have escaped justice yet.

Following her recent involvement in a fatal car crash, the California Highway Patrol recommended that the singer/actress be charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter, the Associated Press reports.

This could mean up to one year in jail and thousands in fines. Unless she does the smart thing and gives Pete Doherty's legal team a retainer this minute, in which case she'll probably get community service.

"The city attorney's office is currently reviewing the case to determine whether the evidence warrants the filing of a misdemeanor charge of vehicular manslaughter," CHP spokesman Nick Velasquez said.

The accident occurred on December 30, 2006 as Brandy drove her Land Rover into the back of a Honda driven by Awatef Aboudihaj, whose car hit another vehicle before ending up on the median where she was struck by someone else. She later died of her injuries.

Unlike Tara Conner, Brandy is not suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

A message seeking comment from Brandy's publicist, Courtney Barnes, was not immediately returned. Lauren Conrad reportedly decided to buckle her seat belt after reading this story, though, so that's good. Click it or ticket, babe.

Okay, so we knew Ray J rear-ended Kim Kardashian in their infamous sex tape.

What we did not know until now is that Ray's sister, Brandy, rear-ended another car at 65 mph and caused a motorist's death.

TMZ has learned that Brandy, the R&B sensation, was involved in the fatal accident last month, and it appears to be her fault. It happened on December 30 on the 405 Freeway in Los Angeles.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that Brandy was cruising in her 2007 Land Rover at 65 mph and did not notice that the cars in front of her had slowed considerably. Brandy's vehicle struck a 2005 Toyota, which then hit a 1989 Toyota. The 2005 Toyota slid sideways and hit the center divider. As it came to a halt, it was struck by a 1988 Acura.

The driver of the 2005 Toyota was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in critical condition and died. Brandy, who joins Prison Break's Lane Garrison in the club of troubled stars responsible for fatal accidents over the past few months, was not injured and the driver of the Acura suffered moderate injuries. Janice Dickinson was also rammed recently, but that was in a different car crash, don't worry.

Brandy was not placed under arrest and there was no evidence drugs or alcohol involved. Which is good, because as Nicole Richie has shown us recently, popping Vicodin and puffing the chronic to treat menstrual cramps doesn't result in good vehicular safety.
