Nick Jonas Meets Prez, Quotes Nick Jonas to U.S. Senate

When 16-year-old Nick Jonas testified to the Senate Homeland and Government Affairs Committee about living with diabetes, we were impressed with how maturely he stayed composed up there, as well as how well-spoken he is for his age.

Of course, his quoting of his own song lyrics and plug for the Jonas Brothers' 147 new projects seemed a bit out of place, but then again, his heartfelt words describe this health struggle he has battled all his life. So way to go, Nick!

Here's the youngest Jonas, who was joined by Miley Cyrus on stage in the most romantic concert moment ever last weekend, taking a very different stage, but handling himself extremely well and bringing attention to an important cause.

Nick's official purpose for testifying in front of the U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee hearing was to advocate for government funding for diabetes research, along with Sugar Ray Leonard and Mary Tyler Moore.

Later, Nick met Barack Obama during a trip to the White House.

He popped in for a photo with the Commander-in-Chief and children who are living with the serious illness. If anyone can upstage the President, Nick would be it!

Bo Obama: The White House Portrait

Politics and differing ideologies inspire heated debates every day in this country, but there are a few topics just about everyone can agree on:

Whether he's at play with the First Family, wandering around the Oval Office or posing regally on the lawn for his official White House portrait (below), it is no surprise that Bo Obama has won the hearts of Sasha and Malia - and a nation.

Seriously, what's not to love ...

Obama Kills Fly, Talks Financial Regulations

In a move rivaled only by President George W. Bush’s ducking of two flying Iraqi shoes in December, President Barack Obama dispatched of a pesky fly in mid-air - and mid-interview - sending the insect to an early, but much deserved grave.

Obama tried a diplomatic approach first, warning the fly more than once to get lost. “Get out of here,” he said in no uncertain terms, waving his hands for good measure.

But the President, speaking to CNBC’s John Harwood about the administration’s efforts to improve financial regulation, made the executive decision to act with force.

His razor sharp reflexes kicked in and the matter was resolved.

Who said the guy was weak on defense? Please ...

He's not the only one who can multitask like this. In related news, Sarah Palin is now working on walking and chewing gum at the same time. She's thisclose.

Jon Voight: Barack Obama is a False Prophet

President Barack Obama enjoys a 59.4 percent job approval rating according to the latest national polls, compared to just 33.9 percent who say they disapprove.

You can consider Jon Voight firmly among those in the latter category.

The acclaimed actor and father of Angelia Jolie blasted the Prez at the GOP congressional fundraiser at the Washington Convention Center on Monday in D.C.

It was red meat at its best. In his speech, the 70-year-old said:

  • "Everything Obama has recommended has turned out to be disastrous."
  • "Are we supposed to sitting and waiting, watching for the possibility of a new Holocaust? Who’s going to take the responsibility to keep America ... I mean Israel, safe. I’ll tell you why this really scares the hell out of me."
  • "Obama really thinks he is a soft-spoken Julius Caesar."

Jon Voight PicPresident of the United States

  • "It saddens me greatly to think we were the great powerful good in the world. We as Americans knew America to be strong. We were the liberators of the entire world. We are becoming a weak nation."
  • "[Barack Obama] thinks he can conquer the world with his soft-spoken sweet talk and really think he’s going to bring all of the enemies of the world into a little playground, where they’ll swing each other back and forth."
  • "We and we alone are the right frame of mind to free this nation from this Obama oppression. Let’s give thanks to [Republicans] for not giving up and staying the course to bring an end to this false prophet, Obama.”

That about sums it up. Whose side are you on?

Barack & Michelle Obama: Paris Date Night!

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama enjoyed a romantic date night in Paris, France, dining in the famed city just steps from the Eiffel Tower.

Dining at the neighborhood bistro La Fontaine de Mars, the President and First Lady shared the restaurant with other diners - and a large security contingent.

"We couldn't see him, but apparently he ordered the lamb," a patron who tried to get a glimpse of the first couple from outside the bistro said.

"[Officials] literally turned the city upside down - with traffic stopped all over - so he could have a 'quiet dinner with his family,'" said another witness.

The whole Obama family traveled across the Atlantic this time.

After dinner, Michelle and Barack Obama took a ride along the Seine River before retreating to the U.S. ambassador's residence, according to the AP.

Earlier in the day, the couple's two adorable daughters, Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7, joined their parents for a sightseeing trip to Notre Dame Cathedral.

The trip marks the first international excursion for the girls since their father became president in January. They seemed to enjoy their time there.

The Obamas are in France to commemorate the 65th anniversary of D-Day, the allied invasion of Normandy in WWII that resulted in victory in Europe.

Barack and Michelle Obama: NYC Date Night!

President of the United States of America Barack Obama and celebrity fashion icon / First Lady Michelle Obama made their first trip to New York City since he took office in January, enjoying dinner and a Broadway play over the weekend.

A White House press spokesperson said that the President had "promised" his wife that he would take her to a Broadway show after the election was all finished.

Between the NYC trip and getting his daughters Bo the First Dog, Barack has now made good on at least two of his major campaign promises. That's leadership!

After both parents attended eldest daughter Malia's soccer match (her team won), they boarded a C-20 plane and arrived in the Big Apple Saturday afternoon.

Obamas in NYC

The pair's first stop: New York's West Village neighborhood, where they dined at Bluehill Restaurant. Fellow diner Eva Fleischer of Manhattan said she "had no idea" the Obamas would be there when she made her 5:30 p.m. reservations.

"They had to pat us down," she told reporters outside the restaurant, which is known for its "locally grown fare." As the Obamas left, Fleischer recalled, the President said to her table, "'Hi, guys!' It was very exciting and surprising."

Another diner at the restaurant, Susan Korchak of Manhattan, noted that Michelle Obama "is very tall. She's just statuesque and gorgeous."

Post-dinner, the Obamas hit the Belasco Theater on West 44th Street for a performance of Joe Turner's Come and Gone - about a group of African-Americans coming to grips with the legacy of slavery - before flying back to the White House.

Barack, Bo and the First Family: At Play!

Give it up, Republicans. Look to 2016.

Approval ratings for Barack Obama might drop a bit if the economy continues to tank, but the President took a step this week that ensures his popularity will remain, even in the face of rising employment rates and populist outage:

He got a puppy!

Not just any puppy, but one with "star quality," as Obama described Bo, adding: "That's a good-looking dog, let's face it."

It's also a good-looking family the President has gathered together. He, Michelle, Malia and Sasha took the First Dog out for a walk this week:

Uh-Bo! Questions Raised About Barack Obama, First Dog

Love him or hate him, there's no debating the fact that Barack Obama has stuck to his campaign promises.

The President is focused on restructuring the country's health care, while simultaneously revising the tax code to pre-George W. Bush days.

But Obama stands accused of not following through on one, canine-related promise he made to voters: to save the White House dog from a shelter.

Earlier this week, Bo (pictured) - a Portugese Water Dog - arrived from a Texas breeder. Unfortunately, not everyone is in love with this adorable puppy.

BoThe First Dog

The Obamas have welcomed Bo, and controversy, into the White House.

The Obamas chose the hypoallergenic breed due to 10-year-old daughter Malia's allergies; they have also said they plan to make a donation to a local Humane Society.

However, the puppy, which was a gift from Senator Ted Kennedy, was not technically rescued from a shelter. Bo is considered a "second chance" dog because his first home didn't work out; shelter advocates say they had expected more from the President.

"Bo seems like a great dog, but we were all hoping the President would lead by example,” said Kim Saunders, co-founder of the adoption site Petfinder.com.

Obama Family to Welcome First Dog

Breaking political news: Barack, Michelle, Sasha and Malia Obama are finally welcoming their new puppy to the White House!

The black Portuguese water dog comes from a kennel in Texas. It was sold to a family who gave it back, so will be "re-homed" to the first family.

Shrewd move by Barack Obama, choosing a rejected dog who needs a second home. Not only is it nice, but animal rights peeps will go less insane.

The six-month-old dog is named Charlie, though the Obamas will rename it.

A website, FirstDogCharlie.com, claims to have a photo of him! See below!

The First Dog: Charlie!Splash the Kennedy Portuguese Water Dog

The alleged (and cute!) First Dog, left, and his relative Splash, right, who belongs to U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy. Portuguese Water Dogs are hypoallergenic.

Charlie will be presented to the family by U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy, whose own Portuguese water dogs, Splash and Sunny, are from the same kennel. Sasha and Malia's new pet is actually from the same lineage as the Kennedy dogs.

The arrival of the First Pet has been a hot topic - almost as much so as Michelle Obama fashion - ever since the president promised his daughters Malia and Sasha, ages 10 and 6, that they would get a puppy if he were elected to the presidency.

After taking office, the U.S. President said they'd get a dog in the spring, as the family itself would still be getting acclimated to its new digs prior to that, and the warmer weather would make his daughters more apt to walk it.

The Portuguese Water Dog was a natural fit for the Obamas because of Malia's allergies - the breed is one of the few that are completely hypoallergenic.

According to Michelle Obama, the young girls have floated Frank and Moose as possible names for their forthcoming furry friend.

** UPDATE: The First Dog has arrived! Earlier today, a 6-month-old Portuguese Water Dog named Bo was delivered to The White House. Check out a photo of him NOW!
