Ashlee Simpson is a terrible actress. In fact, even using the word actress in the same sentence as her name is kind of insulting to female thespians everywhere.

But in addition to her lack of talent, her bad behavior helped get her booted from the new CW remake of Melrose Place, a source close to the cast tells Fox411.

"Ashlee was kicked off Melrose Place because she was a total diva on set, late all the time, and deeply disliked by fellow cast members," the insider spilled.

"It created a lot of discord among the cast.

Of course, another major issue, the source reports, was that "she could barely act." That and producers' need to bring in past stars got Ash the ol' pink slip.

On-set diva Ashlee Simpson is headed for the unemployment line.

Melrose Place producers desperately pushed for Heather Locklear's return as Amanda, but couldn't afford the actress' salary demands without cutting someone.

Choosing who had to go was not hard.

"They basically trimmed the fat and made it possible for Heather to join the show," says the snitch. "Heather is a much bigger name than Ashlee Simpson."

With Ashlee and Colin Egglesfield (whoe unintentionally comedic flirting made them one of our favorite TV couples) exiting in January, and Melrose legend Jack Wagner also rumored to be coming on board, are more cuts still to come?

No word on that just yet, but if the scene last night where David cries at his mother's grave is any indication, Shaun Sipos' agent better start making calls.

As we recently reported, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz was given the pink slip by the CW's Melrose Place, joining the growing ranks of unemployed Americans.

In the wake of her sister's firing, Jessica Simpson says she is no longer a fan, taking to Twitter to defend Ash and bash Melrose Place for letting her go.

Here's what she wrote to the CW:

"Catching up on MP. who writes this crap? i have had some bad scripts to work with, but this? thank God my sister is amazing and got you some press."

Of course, the show feels it will improve with her gone.

According to various reports, Ashlee was canned because producers feel she can't act, and was therefore responsible for the aforementioned bad scripts.

SISTERLY SUPPORT: However delusional she may be, Jessica has Ashlee's back.

"They hired her because they needed a good name to help create buzz," a set insider said. "But it backfired when she was so embarrassingly bad."

"Producers cut her down as much as possible."

Seconds another source, according to Us Weekly: “[Ashlee] is the worst actress, but nobody will tell her.” THG NOTE: We have certainly tried ...

Anyway, what's next for Ashlee? Possibly more acting. The girl is undeterred by the recent eviction from her day job, according to a source:

"She’s reading scripts. Acting is her focus now. If she had an album, she’d have to tour and be away from Bronx. She wants consistency.”

The CW recently picked up Melrose Place for five additional episodes despite lackluster ratings thus far, a move that surprised more than a few TV critics.

Well, it turns out producers at least have a plan to improve the freshman series, starting with the firing of Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, according to TV Fanatic.

Another cast member, Colin Egglesfield, will also be let go along with Ashlee as of January. The show's murder mystery will be wrapped up in December.

Reports say Melrose Place will also take on a lighter tone, which is probably a smart move when they're not exactly dealing with Emmy-winning actors.

New cast members, including the return of original series star Heather Locklear, will begin to be integrated as the series transitions into the new year.

All in all, if the show made these moves to save its a$$, more power to it. The murder plot lacked consistency, and it was taking itself too seriously.

And seriously, it is worth nothing that Ashlee cannot act. At all.

We aren't delighting in anyone getting fired from their job, as it's not her fault that she has absolutely no talent, but from a creative standpoint, it had to be done.

Hey, at least it will give her more time to spend with baby Bronx.

A terrible actress, a poor singer, the sister of an escalating trainwreck and wife to an annoying band member, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz turns 25 today.

The B-list celebrity will likely celebrate by spending time with husband Pete and cute son Bronx today; though we hope she also hangs out with an acting coach.

Seriously. Have you seen her performance on Melrose Place?!? Ashlee makes her fellow stars look like the cast of The West Wing.

Just uttering the names "Kim Kardashian" and "Ashlee Simpson-Wentz" is sure to elicit strong opinions, either for or against, from a number of individuals.

What inspires pregnant celebs to volunteer every piece of information they can muster, we have no idea. But Ashlee Simpson-Wentz is clearly jealous of Kendra Wilkinson and Kourtney Kardashian getting attention from being knocked up.

Why else would she offer this insight no one cares about?

Making the media rounds for her role on Melrose Place, Ashlee stopped by The Rachel Ray Show (her interview airs September 15), where she said getting impregnated with the spawn of Pete Wentz didn’t affect her physical prowess.

At. All. If you know what we mean (we don't). She said:

“I could do the splits when I was nine months pregnant. I could put my leg over my head still. I used to be a ballerina,” the sister of Jessica Simpson said.

Why a nine-months-pregnant woman is even attempting splits, we have no idea. Nor do we really want to know, to be perfectly honest. TMI, Ash. TMI.

What a cute, harmless human being with the brainpower of an infant. And that Bronx Mowgli Wentz is pretty cute in his own right, now that we think about it.

This just in: Ashlee Simpson is not sexy.

Chalk it up to the plastic face; the overbearing father; the annoying sister; the tool of a husband; or, likely, all of the above.

But if the new Melrose Place is looking for an actress to stare seductively into the camera as part of its promotional campaign, allow us to suggest star Katie Cassidy. She's hot - and, unlike Ashlee, she's actually an actress.

Conversely, the stars of The Vampire Diaries know how to do dark and sexy. Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder may have taken their cues from the cast of the Twilight Saga, but that doesn't make them any less desirable.

If you're a fan of that film franchise, you've gotta tune in to this new CW show. It premieres on September 10.

Finally, in its fall television preview, TV Guide Magazine recommends Community, Eastwick and FlashForward. The strongest appeal of each these shows? None of them stars Ashlee Simpson.

Perez Hilton has gone and pissed off another star. Or at least Ashlee Simpson.

The celebrity gossip blogger reported that Ashlee and husband Pete Wentz got into a fight at the one-year anniversary of his Chicago bar, Angels and Kings.

Hilton quoted eyewitnesses who said a boozed-up Ash instigated the spat and told Pete "he was [acting] horrible... and made him leave his own party early."

This ignited a war of words between the Wentzs and Perez Hilton. Via Twitter.

Making it clear there was no bad blood with her beloved, she went after the gossip queen with a vengeance: "When all you do is make up untrue stories - look in the mirror. Do you even feel human?? Karma is a bitch. Your story is WAY off."

Hilton, who refers to Simpson-Wentz as "Asslee" (in typical clever fashion) fired back with this Tweet to Pete: "Sorry to hear what Ashlee put you through."

With mock compassion, the most hated man in celebrity gossip then suggested rehab facilities in Malibu Ashlee can check into, while defending his story.

"I don't wanna name names and get people fired but several of the people I spoke with work at Angels & Kings. I'm not wrong," Perez Hilton Twittered.

"WRONG," replied Ashlee. "My husband is an amazing dj and was dedicating songs to me. We were just havin fun. Our love is amazing ... Get ur own life."

No doubt will.i.am was thinking the same thing while feuding with him in July ... before his manager stepped in and Perez got his ass whomped, that is.

Aubrey O'Day, Emmy Rossum, Melrose Place star Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and her husband Pete are among the celebrities starring in the second PSA for the NOH8 Campaign, entitled "I'm Coming Out," to raise awareness about Propostion 8.

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz is taking her unique blend of acting talent, charisma and good looks to Melrose Place this fall. If only she had any of the above.

Not to give any Melrose Place spoilers away here, but she is not good. We have seen the pilot. Nevertheless, she sat down with People recently to talk about her offbeat character on the CW’s revival of the primetime soap.

“She is a little weird,” Ashlee said. “I have a so-called innocent side, but I think it’s just the persona that I’m giving to people. I’m only setting people up.”

Describing her character, Simpson-Wentz says that, “Her name is Violet and she’s new to Melrose Place, new to L.A., looking for a family member - looking for any kind of family, looking for love. She’s really not accepted - not just yet."

"I think that’s something interesting, to play the outsider.”

Some of Violet’s downfalls? "Obsessing over things and people,” says the 24-year-old, even-less-talented sister of Jessica Simpson. “Anyone that’s willing to be like, ‘I’ll help you out,’ she ends up finding an obsession with them.”

Unlike Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, who has a strong bond with her own family in real life, the character is “desperate for family, desperate for love, to connect.”

“She looks up to Ella, who’s played by Katie Cassidy, because she’s got it together from the outside. She’s like ‘How am I ever going to fit in this town?’”

Simpson says she’s glad to be part of the series’ tradition of shocking plot twists - but won’t give up an specifics ... yet. “There’s a lot of jaw-droppers on the show that we obviously can’t give away but it does get crazy.”

Although she was too young to catch the original Melrose Place, the lip-syncher hopes to “bring the old audience back and also start a new one, one that's for our generation because we just missed the boat on Melrose Place.”
