According to the The Lone Ranger reviews, the movie was awful. According to almost everyone who saw the film, the movie was awful.

It had moments that were watchable, even entertaining, but in the end, the overall picture was one that didn't quite measure up to the legend and history of The Lone Ranger.

Therefore, it failed. Spectacularly.

That isn't stopping Lone Ranger stars Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer, from going on record as blaming the critics and their negative reviews for their box office failure.

As you can see, it isn't just the film's stars!

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski got in on the fun as well. Did these four all meet out in the hallway and synchronize their watches or something?

Armie Hammer stars in The Lone Ranger opposite Johnny Depp, a blockbuster that opens next week.

But in the latest issue of Elle (on newsstands tomorrow), the actor doesn't talk much about his famous costar, focusing instead on sex with his wife.

"I used to like to be a dominant lover," Hammer says, explaining how things have changed with wife Elizabeth Chambers. "I liked the grabbing of the neck and the hair and all that. But then you get married and your sexual appetites change. And I mean that for the better - it’s not like I’m suffering in any way."

Well, that's good to know.

Johnny Depp did a lot of his own stunts in The Lone Ranger.

Even ones that weren't scripted, like falling from a horse and causing the whole crew to panic!

We are reportedly down to three for the role of Finnick Odair.

With Robert Pattinson (thankfully) out of the running for this key Catching Fire character, E! News claims producers have narrowed their choices down to the following trio:

  1. Taylor Kitsch: Beloved Friday Night Lights star who anchored two of the biggest flops in Hollywood history, John Carter and Battleship.
  2. Armie Hammer: Oscar nominee and upcoming Lone Ranger opposite Johnny Depp as Tonto.
  3. Garrett Hedlund: Starring opposite Kristen Stewart in On the Road.

E! also claims The Hunger Games sequel might go with a relative nobody for Finnick, who is a former winner of the story's annual competition and possesses both a ridiculously amazing body and a cocky personality.

Which of these actors would be best suited for the part?

And the Winner is?

We're reportedly down to three for the key role of Finnick in Catching Fire. Who should it be? View Poll »

Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures has given us our first look at Johnny Depp in his latest eccentric role.

The Oscar-winning star teams up with Armie Hammer for The Lone Ranger, starring in that May 2013 blockbuster as Tonto, the Native American BFF of the film's title character.

Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer in The Lone Ranger

The Lone Ranger is a big screen adaption of the classic 1940s TV and radio series. It will produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Gore Verbinski. Said the former to Entertainment Weekly awhile back:

"When the idea came up [for the movie], I started thinking about Tonto and what could be done in my own small way try to reinvent the relationship to attempt to take some of the ugliness thrown on the Native Americans - not only in The Lone Ranger, but the way Indians were treated throughout history of cinema - and turn it on its head."

Authorities say actor Armie Hammer was arrested at a border patrol checkpoint in West Texas after a drug sniffing dog discovered marijuana in his car. The same checkpoint, crazily enough, where Willie Nelson AND Snoop Dogg got popped.

The 25-year-old J. Edgar star spent about a day in jail before paying a $1,000 bond.

Arrest records show he had 0.02 ounces of marijuana, three medicinal marijuana cookies and one brownie when arrested in Sierra Blanca, near the Mexican border.

El Paso's district attorney declined to prosecute because a felony requires more than four ounces of actual marijuana. The county attorney could pursue lesser charges.

Hammer's lawyer Kent Schaffer says no charges have been presented. Likely Armie will merely be fined and sent on his merry, unreasonably handsome way.

Johnny Depp has found his Lone Ranger in Armie Hammer.

The 24-year-old, who portrayed Mark Zuckerberg's nemeses the Winklevoss Twins in The Social Network, will play the masked hero in Disney’s adaptation of The Lone Ranger, with the legendary Depp alongside him as Tonto.

Gore Verbinski, who directed Depp in Rango and the first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies, will helm the film, with Jerry Bruckheimer producing.

Unlike in the iconic 1950s TV show, Depp’s Tonto will be more than The Lone Ranger’s mere sidekick. When the idea came up [for the movie], Depp started thinking about Tonto and what could be done to "reinvent the relationship."

The star, who is part Native-American, says the film is his way of trying to re-shape the way they are treated throughout cinema, and to "turn it on its head.”

Hammer can also be seen in Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar as Clyde Tolson, an FBI official who some say was romantically involved with FBI director J. Edgar Hoover (Leonardo DiCaprio). The biopic is scheduled for a December release.
