American Idol Season 12 has named its 20 semifinalists.

And it looks like one of them will be the most polarizing contestant since Adam Lambert.

Along with Candice Glover, Janelle Arthur and 7 others, Zoanette Johnson has moved on to the Top 10, with the judges on Wednesday night gushing over her theatrical rendition of The Lion King's "Circle of Life."

The semifinalists are on American Idol Season 12 are finally set.

Last night, the final quintet of men were named, as the 10 remaining contestants with penises squared off in a Las Vegas-based Sudden Death round.

Who would be joining the previously-revealed 15? And take to the live stage next week to sing for your vote?

And then there were 15.

American Idol narrowed down its Season 12 field some more last night, as 10 women sang for five spots.

In the end, half were eliminated and we were left with the 10 total female semifinalists - a quintet from last Wednesday mixed with these  Sudden Death survivors - who will battle it out next week on the first live shows of the season.

Now the fun can truly begin on American Idol.

The Fox competition whittled its contestants down to 40 last night - 20 men, 20 women - all of whom will head to Las Vegas next week for what the series is dubbing "Sudden Death Semifinals."

And then there were the final 40.

American Idol chopped eight men tonight, narrowing its number of males down to 20. But the evening for the most part once again belonged to the fairer gender, as many females took to the stage and only 20 were left standing by the end of the hour.

Do girls really run the world?

American Idol attempted to answer that question last night, giving the fairer sex a platform to perform in Hollywood.

The remaining 76 female contestants were shoehorned into 19 quartets, most of which included at least one troublemaker.

So, who advanced to the next round of cuts?

Candice Glover (above) stood out from the pack, as did Janelle Arthur for her rendition of "I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry."

It was The Hunger Games in Hollywood last night, as Keith Urban put it, with Season 12 heading to Tinsel Town and placing the men center stage.

Yes, in a change from past years, only males will be featured this week, as we witnessed a handful of quick Sudden Death rounds last night, followed by some painful group songs.

It was fast, it was furious - and Lazaro Arbos at least made it painless when he took the mic. Watch this 21-year old ice cream scooper from Naples make Nicki fall for him with a version of "Angels."
