Adam Lambert: Outraged Over Out Magazine Controversy

On the American Idol stage, Adam Lambert proved that he's calm and cool in the face of pressure.

The singer was forced to demonstrate those same traits this week, after he was called out by Aaron Hicklin, the editor of Out magazine.

We recommend reading Hicklin's full statement, but in a nutshell: he takes issue with Lambert for trying to control the interview the singer conducted with Out this month.

Hicklin criticizes Lambert for only agreeing to a cover shot if straight people were included on it; for having his publicist dictate terms of the interview; and, generally, for not being gay enough so that "others can follow" Lambert's example.

These are galling critiques for numerous reasons: all celebrities hire publicists to sit with magazines and set an agenda; Out was clearly satisfied with the feature, as it ran the interview; and, as Lambert tells Entertainment Weekly, "not every gay man is the same gay man."

American Role Model

We'll let Adam take it from here. In a well-spoken, articulate discussion with EW, he responded to Hicklin's unfair charges...

On his image: What people don’t realize is, I am managing my image, more than maybe the editor of OUT magazine likes to give anybody credit for. My team is a team... I really mean it. I’m not being puppeted around. I didn’t want to jump onto a gay magazine as my first thing, because I feel like that’s putting myself in a box and limiting myself.

On his message: I’m an entertainer... I can talk about relationships and personal experiences because as an artist those things involve writing lyrics and that part of my process. But I didn’t feel comfortable talking about the March on Washington. I didn’t feel comfortable, so I asked my publicist to ask the interviewer to stay away from the political questions. I take full responsibility for that.

I think that the editor has his agenda and has his opinions, which I respect, but they’re not necessarily my opinions. And I wish there was a little respect for that. Not every gay man is the same gay man... We’re all very very different, just like all straight people are different.

On gay rights: In order for us to progress, we need to stop segregating ourselves. And the letter that Aaron wrote is holding us back. Because it’s recognizing the big difference as opposed to letting us all ignore preference and just be people... in attempt to champion a cause he’s actually taking a big step backwards.

We couldn't have said it better ourselves. We don't think anyone on the planet could have said it better themselves. Rock on, Adam!

Adam Lambert Would Have Sex With a Woman

In the latest issue of Out, Adam Lambert states his belief that Americans are frightened by male sexuality.

But there's actually more to the interview, as the popular singer confirms he's gay - yet also admits he's curious about sex with women!

Yes, ladies, you might still have a chance. Asked about sleeping with a female, Lambert replied:

"I’m curious. There are gay guys that gag and go 'eww' at the thought of having sex with a girl. I’m curious about it because I’ve never done it."

Adam and Paula

Adam Lambert is curious about sex with women. Let's just hope he doesn't give in to that curiosity with Paula Abdul.

Adam got really personal in the interview and actually admitted that he's gone down on a woman. He wasn't a fan of the act.

"It was a little gross because I don’t think she was as clean as she could’ve been. It wasn’t the act of it that really turned me off... I was 18 and I was drunk... the point of the matter is that I would not rule it out. The idea is intriguing."

This isn't the first time Lambert has embraced the concept of the opposite sex. He also did so, literally, in an issue of Details magazine this year.

"Being curious and embracing that curiosity is all a part of what I’m about. You don’t have to be any one thing. You can kinda just be. Just live your life - and play."

How many women out there would love to "play" with Lambert?

Adam Lambert on Sexuality: Gay Men Scare Americans

The latest issue of Out magazine names Adam Lambert its Breakout Star of 2009.

In an interview with the publication, Lambert dishes on his life as a celebrity, saying: “Fame doesn’t freak me out. I can handle it. But sometimes out in public there are people that just are so rude."

But the singer saves his most controversial statement for a discourse on sexuality. He says many folks are grossed out by the concept of gay men:

“To some people, me being sexual is really offensive because I’m gay. They’re like, ‘He’s being really gay.’ And I’m like, actually, ‘No, I’m just being sexual.’ Male sexuality is frightening to America [but] female sexuality is all over the place.”

Long Look Ahead

We couldn't agree more. Critics can make all the religious or moral arguments they want to. But if only lesbians wanted to get married, no one would care.

Too many Americans are simply disgusted by the image of guys sleeping together. As a result, they spit on the rights and happiness of their fellow man.

Will Lambert's comments negatively effect his debut album sales? We hope not. But, either way, we admire the singer for speaking his mind.

For Our Entertainment: Adam Lambert Films Music Video

Spiked hair. A leather jacket. Giant sunglasses.

Would you expect anything else from Adam Lambert in his first-ever music video?

The singer was spotted in downtown Los Angeles over the weekend, looking as fierce as ever and filming scenes for his "For Your Entertainment" video.

Filming a Video

It will be released later this month, along with the American Idol star's debut album. Adam will face stiff competition on November 23, the day his CD hits stores.

Rihanna, John Mayer and Susan Boyle are among the artists that will also release new albums on that date, as various singers compete for the holiday season. Will Lambert come out on top? We actually think he will.

Check out a trio of images below from Lambert's video shoot and let us know: whose album will you purchase first next week?

Adam Lambert: Coming to a Talk Show Near You!

Adam Lambert has never really left the spotlight.

The singer finished second on American Idol in May and has been followed around by paparazzi ever since. He's also covered magazines and taken part in the American Idol tour this summer.

Still, fans should prepare for more of Adam than ever over the next couple weeks, as he hits the talk show circuit to promote his debut album, For Your Entertainment.

Idol Talent

Where will you find him? That's one of a number of topics Lambert discussed with TV Guide Magazine this week...

On the album: "The things the fans are going to recognize on the album are sort of references and nods to classic and glam rock, music of the 70s in general... But I think what’s going to be in store for them, as far as a treat goes, is modern production as well, mixed in with that 70s kind of vibe. There’s a lot of electronica, there’s a lot of modern beats and synthesized sounds."

On his schedule: “The American Music Awards are coming up. We’re getting to put together a big ol’ production number... Right after the AMAs, I’m going to be doing David Letterman, Ellen Degeneres and Good Morning America.”

On new judge Ellen DeGeneres: “I think that she brings kind of an everyman perspective. I think she represents the audience that ISN’T in the music industry, that’s just a listener. And I think that’s actually really important considering that they’re the people who drive the music industry.”

On meeting Madonna: "My heart was racing. I think I broke into a cold sweat. I mean, she’s one of my idols. But I made it through.[I told her] that I adored her, that I loved her. She seemed to appreciate it.”

Adam Lambert Wants to Act

Slow down, Adam Lambert.

The singer wasted no time finding a new man after he broke up with Drake LaBry.

Now, he's moving even more full steam ahead with his career. Before his debut album even hits stores (on November 23!!!), Lambert is planning his next professional movie. He said in an interview:

“I hope acting’s in my future. It is something that I’ve done a lot over the past eight or 10 years... If the opportunity came up and it was the right thing, I would love to be a part of a film."

We'd undoubtedly line up to watch it, but we just hope Adam isn't going too quickly. The talented star will has plenty of time in the spotlight to come.

Total Star

In the same interview, Lambert credits his dad with instilling confidence in him from an early, awkward age on. Adam's dad would tell him:

"When you’re older, everybody is going to want to be your friend, trust me. The weird ones are the ones that everybody wants to be like when they’re older... He was like, ‘Hold on, just hold on. It will all work out... People will understand you later.'"

Prescient words if we've ever heard them. We can't wait to follow Lambert's long, successful career - wherever it takes him!

Adam Lambert: Pressure of Debut Album is Scary

As he looks ahead to November 23, the date on which his debut album is released, Adam Lambert gets excited.

Then, the trepidation sets in.

"I realize no one’s heard the album yet so the pressure is kind of scary," the singer told TV Guide Magazine this week.

Lambert

Fortunately, Lambert guarantees enough diversity on his 14-track disc to please music fans across the board.

“I wanted to span a bunch of different genres. There are songs that are really angsty indie rock. There are songs that are very classic rock and there’s a couple of dancey electro kinds of things. People tend to sometimes not listen to a whole album these days. They put together their own play lists so I wanted to treat it like an eclectic collection of things that had me at the middle of it.”

Will you be purchasing Adam's album?

Yes, of course!!!

Ferras Alqaisi: Rumored New Boyfriend of Adam Lambert!

Earlier this week, Adam Lambert said he was ready to date.

We assumed the American Idol singer was referring a random person in the future, but who were we kidding? No way Adam Lambert can remain single for long!

Star magazine reports the crooner spent Halloween night at a costume party with a new man: singer/songwriter Ferras Alqaisi.

"Ferras had been helping Adam work on his new album, For Your Entertainment," a friend told the tabloid. "They have a lot in common, so I'm not surprised Adam started falling for him."

Others, however, are shocked that Lambert has moved on so quickly from Drake LaBry.

"Adam really dropped a bomb on Drake; I don't think he suspected a thing," said a source.

Alqaisi is signed to Capitol Records. He enjoyed a brief dalliance in the spotlight a couple years ago, when his single "Hollywood's Not America" was used as the "exit song" on the seventh season of American Idol.

However, it was soon replaced by a Ruben Studdard song. Fortunately, Ferras has found his revenge: forget a tune on American Idol; he's got himself on an American Idol now!

Check out a few Ferras Alqaisi pictures below. Is he good enough for our man Adam?

His much-hyped debut album comes out on November 23. You can listen to songs from it NOW!

What kind of man is Lambert looking for? He told Us Weekly any potential mate must be "intelligent" and possess "creativity and compassion."

As for LaBry, the classy star has nothing but positive things to say about his ex.

"I don't really feel like there were any mistakes made. I feel like things evolved. Sometimes you're on the same page with somebody, and sometimes you have to get off that page and on to another one."
