Carson Daly has officially joined The Today Show after several months of appearances as a fill-in co-host.

The announcement was made Thursday morning on Today. "I feel like I've been adopted by the first family," Daly said while sitting with Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker, Natalie Morales, Hoda Kotb, Kathie Lee Gifford and Willie Geist. "This feels like an intervention," he joked.

The Voice and Last Call with Carson Daly host will be launching "The Orange Room," a social media area where viewers can contact him and weigh in on Today Show segments.

"When I got the call about being permanently on Today and launching the Orange Room, it was like a dream come true," Daly told “You know that scene in “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory,’ where Charlie peels back the wrapper and finds the golden ticket? I felt like I got the golden ticket.”

Carson's segment will debut on Monday, September 16, when the new Studio 1A is revealed. The studio has been undergoing renovations for the first time in seven years, featuring an open floor plan designed to provide better integration between the show's hosts, guests and audience.

According to Today executive producer Don Nash, "The Orange Room is where the newsroom meet the living room. In this space, we will evolve the way news is gathered and delivered by creating a direct and meaningful relationship with our Today audience on any platform. Carson is the perfect fit for this exciting new role. He’s passionate about being on the forefront of new media, and has distinguished himself as a socially savvy broadcaster with a unique ability to engage audiences.”

NBC has renewed Last Call, and while Daly will continue as executive producer, he may not be continuing as the show's host.
