John Mellencamp's Teenage Sons Charged With Felony Battery
John Mellencamp's teenage sons have been charged with felony battery after a fight on July 29 sent their victim to a hospital for treatment.
Brothers Speck Mellencamp, 18, and Hud Mellencamp, 19, and their friend Ty Smith beat up 19-year-old Indiana college student Alexander Bucy, who was hosting a house party. Smith is the son of the head baseball coach Tracy Smith at Indiana University.
Police say that the victim suffered facial fractures and cuts that needed stitches after he was punched, kicked and stomped - photo of the victim.
The beating was in retaliation for an earlier fight at the same house party that had Speck seeking revenge. Ironically, it wasn't Bucy who threw the earlier punches in a dust up started by two female guests.
An arrest warrant was issued Thursday and the trio turned themselves in. They have since been released on $5,000 bail.
Hud and Speck are the sons of John Mellencamp's third wife, model Elaine Irwin. The couple divorced in 2011 after 19 years of marriage.
