Justin Bieber Murder Plot Foiled by Federal Agents
Teen heartthrob Justin Bieber was the target of a murder plot that was set to go down in New York City last month at his sold-out Madison Square Garden concert.
KRQE News 13 reported that convicted criminal Dana Martin, who is serving two life sentences at the Southern New Mexico Corrections Facility for the rape and murder of a 15-year-old Vermont girl, plotted from behind bars to kidnap and kill Bieber.
He recruited former inmate Mark Staake and his nephew Tanner Ruane to strangle Justin and his bodyguard with a paisley tie and then castrate them with pruning shears.
The pair set out for Vermont on Nov. 14 to work out the plan. Staake missed a highway exit in Vermont near the border crossing into Canada and got stopped by a border patrol agent. He was arrested on outstanding warrants and Ruane set out on his own.
The plot was foiled when Staake made a jail house phone call to Martin and made references to the murder plot, unaware that authorities had bugged the call. Agents interrogated Martin in New Mexico and he provided details of the entire plan. It turns out he was obsessed with the pop star and even had a tattoo of Bieber on his leg.
The following day agents picked up Ruane at a gas station in Rotterdam, N.Y., and recovered tools and documents containing information about the intended victims.
Justin Bieber will appear Friday on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The show host will likely grill him for more details.
