Rob Lowe Tweets Peyton Manning Retirement
Rob Lowe created an uproar in the football world Wednesday when he tweeted that he had inside information that Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning is retiring.
"Hearing my fave, #18 Peyton Manning will not return to #NFL. Wow. #Colts," Lowe posted around 4:00 p.m. yesterday.
"My people are saying Manning will retire today. What do you hear? " the actor tweeted to NFL correspondent Rich Eison.
Lowe tweeted to Colt's fans that he hopes his info is wrong. "Don't like being wrong, but this time... I'm hoping," he wrote.
Colts owner Jim Irsay, friend of Lowe's, responded to the rumor, tweeting, "My sources tell me Rob will star in an epic remake of "Deep Throat" with aging porn stars and 4 finger circus clowns!"
And following yesterday's twitterstorm, Irsay tweeted, "Verification Incomplete............................................................SHUT IT DOWN!!!!!!!!!"
Manning, the one person who could shut down the rumor, has remained mum, although his father, Archie Manning, said he doesn't know anything about it.
35-year-old Manning has been out all season with a neck injury.
