Ines Sainz Claims Harassment by New York Jets (PHOTOS, VIDEO)
TV Azteca sports reporter Ines Sainz has alleged that she was harassed by New York Jets players during and after their practice session on Saturday.
Her colleague at TV Azteca, Ines Gomez-Mont, made waves in 2008 when she dressed as a bride during media day and proposed to Patriots QB Tom Brady.
Sainz was apparently singled out on Saturday as the victim of catcalls in the lock room by Jets players and coach Rex Ryan. There are also reports circulating that during practice Ryan intentionally set up drills so that his defensive backs would "accidentally" run into Sainz.
Another reporter, who was apparently concerned about the situation, asked Sainz if she was ok. Jets lineman Kris Jenkins interjected, "This is our locker room!"
Jets spokesman Bruce Speight assured reporters that team owner Woody Johnson has spoken to Ines about the situation. According to Speight: "He stressed to Ines that he expects all members of the Jets organization to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times. We will continue to work with the league to gather the facts and take any appropriate steps necessary to maintain a respectful environment for the media."
NFL spokesman Greg Aiello reported via e-mail: "The Jets and our office began looking into it as soon as we learned of it last night. That process is ongoing."
Representatives for the Association of Women in Sports Media reached out to the NFL when the allegations surfaced last night. They released this statement: "AWSM remains steadfast in its long-standing commitment to ensure all women in sports media are treated respectfully, equally and professionally while working in the locker room. We will remain on top of this situation."
Not long ago, Sports Illustrated columnist Jenn Sterger claimed that Brett Favre sent her x-rated photos during his short tenure with the New York Jets.
