Laurie David and Al Gore Affair (PHOTOS)
On Tuesday it was revealed that the breakup of the Al Gore and Tipper Gore marriage was due to a two year affair that he was engaged in with mistress Laurie David. The 40-year union ended shockingly with a joint separation announcement on June 1, indicating that by mutual decision, they had decided to end their marital bonds.
NOW we begin to understand what really occurred. The New York Daily News indicates that activist, author and producer Laurie David, previously married to "Seinfeld" creator Larry David, has been doing more than working side by side with the former vice president.
Laurie and Al co-produced the 2006 documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" to save the planet from climate change. She has written several books and won numerous awards for her campaign to stop global warming. An interesting article that she penned for the Guardian in 2006 was titled "How I Made Al Gore Sexy". In that piece she confessed to having a crush from afar. The following year she divorced her husband of 14-years, citing "irreconcilable differences."
Laurie, Al and their team won an Oscar for Best Documentary of 2007. She also won a Grammy Award in the Best Spoken Word category for her book "An Inconvenient Truth: The Planetary Emergency of Global Warming and What We Can Do About It" in 2009. And of course, Gore won the Nobel Peace Prize for the same body of work.
In order to provide balanced reporting, we would be remiss if we didn't mention the fact that Laurie David released a statement, late today, denying an affair. She said: "The story is completely untrue. It's a total fabrication. I adore both Al and Tipper. I look at them both as family. And I have happily been in a serious relationship since my divorce."
Al Gore has remained mum on the story.
