Hilton Hater

I am a senior staff writer at THG and a big fan of Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Robert Pattinson. I believe Kim Kardashian is bad for society, but great for attention, and that The Real Housewives should all be banned from existence.

In case you haven't heard, Robert Pattinson is starring in a little movie called New Moon.

He's also scheduled to play a key role in Eclipse, the third film in the Twilight Saga, due out on June 30, 2010.

In between these blockbusters, however, the British actor will expand his resume and appear in Remember Me. The flick co-stars Emile de Ravin, with whom Robert was spotted making out a few months ago.

Was this kissing scene simply in the script? Or were the rumors of off-screen chemistry between this pair valid? Watch the official trailer below and decide for yourself:

Remember Me comes out on March 12. Will you go see it?

We often make fun of her wardrobe, personality and overall egocentric behavior.

But The Hollywood Gossip is willing to give Miley Cyrus a second chance, as the young singer has deleted her Twitter account, chosen to keep her relationship with Liam Hemsworth private and seems generally more mature these days.

Therefore, please join us in wishing Miley a happy 17th birthday.

A year ago, Cyrus shut down Disneyland and actually charged fans to attend her festivities. No such plans have been announced this week. Another sign of maturity? Let's hope so.

Send in your birthday wishes now and click around our Miley photo montage below, posted in honor of the new 17-year old...

Looks like THG staff members weren't the only ones to attend a showing of New Moon this weekend.

Following our positive review of the Twilight sequel, final weekend numbers have come in for the film - and they're more impressive that Robert Pattinson's hair!

Robsten in Bed!

New Moon grossed $140.7 million during its first two days in release, the third best opening weekend in movie history. Only The Dark Knight and Spider-Man 3 fared better.

Thanks to Bella, Jacob and Edward, New Moon is setting box office records.

Twilight took home $69.6 million over its opening weekend. The third film in the franchise, Eclipse, will try to out-earn both these installments in June 2010.

Did you like New Moon?

Rivalry, schmivalry.

Kris Allen's debut album is currently on sale, and Adam Lambert releases his first-ever CD next week, but the former American Idol finalists are more friendly than feuding.

The singers cover the latest issue of Billboard, as Allen talks in the magazine about the process of recording songs for his album:

"When you're going to write and be in the studio, it's like, 'Now I have to think about me.' That's the mind-set you have to work with. I keep a journal, and maybe I'll take something from that - but when I'm writing a song I'll usually just be playing around on my guitar. More than anything, I just try to capture a moment."

Lambert, meanwhile is currently embroiled in a public fight with the editor of Out. He told the publication above:

“I consider myself part artist, part businessperson. I find marketing interesting, I find publicity interesting. I find the whole process interesting. I think there’s some artists that are really focused on the music and the artistry, but I also think being a showman and being an entertainer is more than just being a musician. It’s everything."

Kim Kardashian gracing the cover of a random, heretofore unheard of magazine? Not unusual.

Kim Kardashian looking classy and (gasp!) clothed in that publication's pictorial? A sign of the Apocalypse.

But that's exactly what takes place in the December issue of Saturday Night. Just look at the (relatively) modest cover shot:

In her interview, of course, Kim sounds more like Kim. She praises the realism of her show and acts as though her publicist doesn't contact the paparazzi to snap her photos.

A few excerpts:

On Keeping Up with the Kardashians:" Sharing our lives on the show is actually very beneficial. The best feedback was the wedding special. Before, people were saying, “Khloé and Lamar met a month ago now they are getting married. This is crazy and it can’t be real.”

But, after seeing the wedding special you see the whole process of what their life is like together and how they fell in love. If anything, people are now saying they totally get it. It’s just the best way for us to tell our side of the story.

On celebrity gossip photographers: If you happen to shop down Robertson Blvd. then you know they’re going to be everywhere. It happens that I love to go to this nail salon in Beverly Hills where there are always paparazzi. At times it’s frustrating because I just want to get my nails done with no makeup on and in sweats. Times like those you just wish they weren’t around.

On the American Idol stage, Adam Lambert proved that he's calm and cool in the face of pressure.

The singer was forced to demonstrate those same traits this week, after he was called out by Aaron Hicklin, the editor of Out magazine.

From Idol to Superstar

We recommend reading Hicklin's full statement, but in a nutshell: he takes issue with Lambert for trying to control the interview the singer conducted with Out this month.

Hicklin criticizes Lambert for only agreeing to a cover shot if straight people were included on it; for having his publicist dictate terms of the interview; and, generally, for not being gay enough so that "others can follow" Lambert's example.

These are galling critiques for numerous reasons: all celebrities hire publicists to sit with magazines and set an agenda; Out was clearly satisfied with the feature, as it ran the interview; and, as Lambert tells Entertainment Weekly, "not every gay man is the same gay man."

We'll let Adam take it from here. In a well-spoken, articulate discussion with EW, he responded to Hicklin's unfair charges...

On his image: What people don’t realize is, I am managing my image, more than maybe the editor of OUT magazine likes to give anybody credit for. My team is a team... I really mean it. I’m not being puppeted around. I didn’t want to jump onto a gay magazine as my first thing, because I feel like that’s putting myself in a box and limiting myself.

On his message: I’m an entertainer... I can talk about relationships and personal experiences because as an artist those things involve writing lyrics and that part of my process. But I didn’t feel comfortable talking about the March on Washington. I didn’t feel comfortable, so I asked my publicist to ask the interviewer to stay away from the political questions. I take full responsibility for that.

I think that the editor has his agenda and has his opinions, which I respect, but they’re not necessarily my opinions. And I wish there was a little respect for that. Not every gay man is the same gay man... We’re all very very different, just like all straight people are different.

On gay rights: In order for us to progress, we need to stop segregating ourselves. And the letter that Aaron wrote is holding us back. Because it’s recognizing the big difference as opposed to letting us all ignore preference and just be people... in attempt to champion a cause he’s actually taking a big step backwards.

We couldn't have said it better ourselves. We don't think anyone on the planet could have said it better themselves. Rock on, Adam!

Miley Cyrus has been spotted making out with Liam Hemsworth.

She says she's "never gotten along with someone so well." Still, the singer is taking a page from Kristen Stewart and refuses to actually acknowledge a relationship with her co-star from The Last Song.

In the latest issue of Seventeen, she says:

"I was a little anxious about making this movie; I wanted everything to be perfect. To go on set and feel insecure was a totally new element for me. But he felt the same way. He admitted his insecurities, and it was really nice to have someone who understands me for once."

Watch Miley and Liam in The Last Song trailer, and check them out below in a scene from the film:

Cyrus added:

"We've decided that any type of relationship that we have, we will always just keep it very D.L. First and foremost, we are best friends, so that's what I tell people all the time."

We're the Web's harshest Miley critics and we'd prefer if she simply stated that she and Liam were an item. But we used to make fun of the singer all the time for sharing every thought on Twitter.

We can't turn around and make fun of her now for wanting to keep her private life private. If she's happy, we guess we're happy. Hopefully, she'll at least dance like a stripper again soon and we can go off on that.

For the big O, it's time to go.

During tomorrow's broadcast, Oprah Winfrey will officially announce the end of her network television talk show. Its final airdate will be September 9, 2011.

"Tomorrow, Oprah will announce live on The Oprah Winfrey Show that she has decided to end what is arguably one of the most popular, influential and enduring programs in television history," Tim Bennett, the President of Harpo productions, wrote in a statement.

Bennett sent out the letter in order to prevent affiliates from being shocked at the announcement.

"Before she speaks to her loyal viewers, we wanted to share her decision first with you - our valued partners for more than two decades," he wrote.

Oprah

Of course, Winfrey is unlikely to leave television altogether.

It's been rumored for weeks that the icon will take the gabfest to her previously announced cable channel, the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), which also launches in 2011.

Will you miss her on network TV?

John Mayer may be a total and utter douchebag, but we can say one nice thing about him: The singer is unafraid to praise his competition.

Months ago, he (sort of creepily) gave a shout out to Demi Lovato via Twitter. Now, he's telling Access Hollywood just how awesome Taylor Swift is.

“There’s something about Taylor that she would have been a star in any decade,” Mayer said. “Taylor’s like this fresh voice.”

Swift actually shares a credit with the crooner on “Half of My Heart,” a song off Mayer's new album, "Battle Studies."

  • Mayer
  • Swift, Cute

Mayer says he's most impressed by how calm and humble Swift has remained in the face of such success.

Taylor Swift is the last person to know she’s Taylor Swift, which I think is totally sweet. It’s almost like Taylor Swift is like a character in a movie about a small town girl who has her dreams come true.

"It’s great to have someone who’s hugely talented and still is able to receive the pleasure in all moments.”

It sure is, but you best stay away from her, John! Otherwise, you'll have to answer to Taylor Lautner and his abs of steel!

As he makes the talk show rounds in order to promote New Moon this week, one thing is clear:

Robert Pattinson is a cool guy!

The actor was as laid back and relaxed as we've ever seen him during an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman last night.

Pattinson joked about fame, fans and biting babies. When the host finally asked Rob the question on everyone's mind - is he dating Kristen Stewart? - the star hemmed and hawed until Letterman hilariously cut him off with:

"Ah, bite me. What do I care?!?"

If only supermarket tabloids, desperate for sales, felt the same way...
