I am a senior staff writer at THG and a big fan of Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Robert Pattinson. I believe Kim Kardashian is bad for society, but great for attention, and that The Real Housewives should all be banned from existence.

By now, you must have seen the commercials and heard the news:

American Idol returns to dominate the TV landscape on January 12!

But will it be the same Idol fans have fallen in love with over the years? Not exactly, says Simon Cowell, and he points to new judge Ellen DeGeneres as the reason why.

“She’s going to be very different than Paula,” Cowell told Extra. “I think she’s probably quite nervous... She’s smart, but make no mistakes: this will be a very different kind of show than what you’re used to.”

Hey, as long as it produces the next Adam Lambert, Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood, we'll be happy!

Cowell

Simon was also asked about Susan Boyle, the singing sensation he helped discover. He's in the process of producing a documentary about her life

“It’s her story... so you hear it all in her words,” he said. “It’s fascinating seeing it through her eyes.”

Are you excited for the return of American Idol? What about the overabundance of Simon Cowell chest hair above?

Forget Tickle Me Elmo.

Where is Eat the Crazy, Self-Serving Prima Donna Elmo?!?

Tyra

We wish this holiday toy had been invented, as it could have been put to good use on The Tyra Banks Show this week.

Indeed, instead of traveling to Sesame Street like all other celebrities that spend time with these Muppets, Tyra forced them to commute to her stage and entertain her audience during a segment that aired today.

Is anyone surprised by this? The implication is clear: Tyra Banks doesn't care about children; she just wants to create headlines for herself. She positively sucks.

Isn't it nice when the need for positive publicity overcomes the need to make headlines by trashing your daughter?

As recently as six months ago, Candy Spelling actually blamed the death of her husband on daughter Tori. She said that Tori's decision to no longer speak to Aaron Spelling "killed" him. Isn't that sweet?

Earlier this month, though, E! News confirmed that Candy spent quality time with Tori and husband Dean McDermott's two children, Stella and Liam. She then said this week:

"I'm looking forward to a lot of wonderful things. We have taken this private, which is what I've always wanted and I think so did Tori, and I'm really thrilled."

Why the change of heart?

Candy Spelling

It could have something to do with the fact that Candy realized she was making Dina Lohan look like a stand-up mother.

But, call us cynical, it might also have something to do with Bank of Hollywood.

On that ridiculous, upcoming reality TV show, regular people will ask a group of panelists - Candy, Pussycat Dolls singer Melody Thorton, Wilhelmina Models president Sean Patterson and poker player Vanessa Rousso - for money to assist with their dreams.

And Spelling isn't stupid: you can't garner strong ratings if you're best known for feuding with your famous daughter.

Still, it's nice to see mother and daughter getting along for a change. Maybe there's even still hope for Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren.

It doesn't take much to realize that Adam Lambert is being unfairly singled out by ABC.

The network has now canceled appearances by the artist on two separate occasions, following an American Music Awards performance that was racy and controversial, sure; but not worthy of such an extended punishment.

In fact, our loyal readers have directed us to a 2004 clip of Pink at the Billboard Music Awards.

During her rendition of "God is a DJ" below, the singer crosses herself, grinds against the set throughout and thrusts a dancer's face into her crotch... the same exact move that has landed Lambert in such hot water.

Was there any sort of backlash against Pink? No. Did any network bar her from appearing on it? Not even close.

Lambert also got into trouble for kissing a male musician during his performance of "For Your Entertainment."

But as numerous outlets have pointed out since, Britney and Madonna's kiss in 2003 has been replayed for years, not censored immediately.

We know what many critics will say: they simply don't wanna see two men kissing on stage. They find it disgusting. Anyone is entitled to that opinion, but let us ask this in response:

Would you have been equally appalled if Susan Boyle and Billy Joel made out in public? The thought of elderly, overweight members of the opposite sex going at it isn't exactly appealing. But we doubt viewers or networks would react to such antics in this sort of negative matter.

Lambert's situation is an example of homophobia, plain and simple. Do you agree? Leave a comment with your thoughts and answer the following question:

When it comes to Adam Lambert, do you think there's a double standard at work?

Olivia Wilde can get wild.

In September, the actress posed naked in GQ and... we just lost our train of thought. Have you seen these pictures?!?

But the House star has chosen to showcase her sweet side over her sexy side in the January issue of Lucky, which hits newsstands on December 8.

Wilde covers the magazine and poses adorably for a feature that focuses on her fashion choices, not her bedroom fetishes. This is a shame for horny males, but a solid career decision by Olivia, who likely wants to be known as more than just a sex symbol...

In an interview with Lucky, Wilde opens up about her fashion fantasies and her favorite bargains:

On her fashion dreams: “I find myself constantly pretending I’m a chic Parisian. I even dream of buying a Balmain jacket with really sharp shoulders. If I can pull off that look, I will have succeeded, at least partially, in my quest.”

On her favorite bargains: “Coats from H&M are inexpensive and usually have something extra going on - so even with a simple sheath dress, your outfit is still interesting.”

For most editions of Who Would You Rather, readers must suspend disbelief.

Granted, Tiger Woods made a decision between Rachel Uchitel and Elin Nordegren - but he's always played a different game than anyone else on the planet.

Today, though, we're really asking fans to play make believe. After all, neither Rachel Berry nor Sue Sylvester actually exit. They are simply characters on a TV show, played respectively by Glee cast members Lea Michele and Jane Lynch.

Still, after watching the latest episode of this Fox hit, we found ourselves oddly attracted to both.

Rachel is adorable. Every time she opens her mouth, we wanna stick something in it. Sue, conversely, may be the funniest person on TV. She also has a dominating side that must includes whips and chains in the bedroom.

  • Jane Lynch Picture
  • Lea Michele in GQ

You know where we're going with this.

Think about the characters above and let us know: Who would you rather...

He can currently been seen as a vampire torn apart by love.

But Robert Pattinson next appears on the big screen as a rebellious young man living in New York City and struggling with a family tragedy.

Sign For Me, Please

In Remember Me, the talented stud muffin plays Tyler, a lost 23-year old that has a strained relationship with his father (Pierce Brosnan). He thinks he'll remain confused and alone forever... until he meets Ally (Emilie de Ravin) via an unusual twist of fate.

Check out the Remember Me trailer now and the official poster for the film below:

During shooting, rumors sprung up that Pattinson and de Ravin were getting along mighty well off-screen... if you know what we mean!

Were these likely created by a bored tabloid culture, desperate to make headlines? Yes. But might we need to go see Remember Me and investigate the flick for signs of a relationship?

Probably. But who are we kidding? We'd see this movie anyway. It does star Robert Pattinson, after all.

Dag nammit! THG knew we should have made our move as soon as Julianne Hough and Chuck Wicks broke up.

A woman like this doesn't remain single for long.

The gorgeous country singer has been spotted getting close to Kings of Leon's bassist Jared Followill over the last couple weeks.

Most recently, the burgeoning couple cuddled up the Lipstick Lounge in Nashville on Tuesday night. They were part of a group that included country singer Holly Williams.

"They were very affectionate, just hanging out at the table," a witness told People. "They stayed for about an hour and enjoyed karaoke. None of them sang, but they just hung with their group. Only a few people noticed she was even there. They didn't make a spectacle of it."

Julianne Pic

Added a rep for Kings of Leon: "They are friends and have been hanging."

That's fine and all. But if there are any benefits tacked on to that friendship, we'll be far from pleased! Call us, Julianne.

Seriously, ABC?!?

For the second time in as many weeks, the network has pulled the plug on an Adam Lambert appearance.

First, the singer was scheduled to appear on Good Morning America the day after his controversial American Music Awards performance. In a movie that reeked of homophobia and a double standard, Lambert was axed from the show.

Instead, he performed a perfectly clean routine on Today and has gone on to admit his AMA act "went too far."

Case closed, right? Not for ABC.

We Love Lambert

Lambert's was scheduled to put on an outdoor concert on the December 17 installment of Jimmy Kimmel Live! - but an an ABC spokesperson confirmed today:

“We decided not to move forward with the booking at this time."

No reason was given for the cancelation, but the gig had been booked prior to the AMAs. Lambert will now perform on The Jay Leno Show on December 21.

By the way: woman-beating Chris Brown will still appear on 20/20 next week. That show airs on ABC.

This is not exactly at the level of Tiger Woods having an affair with Rachel Uchitel... and Jaimee Grubbs... and Kalika Moquin.

But another professional athlete has been thinking with his penis these days.

Bronx Mowgli Wentz Photo

Daniel "Boobie" Gibson, a shooting guard on the Cleveland Cavs, has knocked up singer Keyshia Cole. The pair have been dating for awhile, so it's not too unethical.

But put a ring on that, Boobie. Be a man!

Cole is due in March 2010.
