I am a senior staff writer at THG and a big fan of Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Robert Pattinson. I believe Kim Kardashian is bad for society, but great for attention, and that The Real Housewives should all be banned from existence.

This may be hard to believe, but there was a time when Jim Carrey was known as one of the most popular actors on the planet. Remember Ace Ventura, anyone?

But the funny man hasn't had a box office success in years. Which was fine when he was seemingly busy and content with Jenny McCarthy.

Carrey On, Jim

Ever since that pair broke-up, though, Carrey has unleashed a stream of Tweets that has fans concerned: might the actor have fallen off the deep end? For example, he recently referenced his character in The Truman Show and wrote:

"I have freed Truman at long last! I am grateful for my avatar's many yrs of dedicated service, but no one has ever won the Tour De France while back peddling... so I killed him."

Well, okay then. At least Carrey isn't still placing some blame on Elin Woods for her husband's infidelity.

Carrey acknowledges that "some folks out there are worried that I stay up too late," but he insists: "This is no breakdown! It's a breakthrough! And if you'll just loosen these straps, I'll show you the difference!"

Sorry, Jim, but we're not convinced.

With a number-one album on the charts, a successful SNL gig behind him, and a movie about his life possibly on the way, might Justin Bieber be developing a major ego?

We pose this question because the singing sensation spoke to MTV News this week and gave himself props for being embraced by the hip-hop community.

"I'm really glad they've taken a liking to me," Justin said. "Having Luda [on my song "Baby"] and having Lil Wayne give me shout me out on UStream... it's cool."

Bieber was discovered by Usher's manager and signed by Def Jam Records. He says he wants to emulate the careers of Usher and Justin Timberlake.

At the Oscars

What about other young singers, such as Miley Cyrus and The Jonas Brothers? Bieber started a possible war in the tween world by implying that those artists are nothing more than Disney-manufactured drones. Asked why he's so popular among various demographics, he replied:

"I think it's because I didn't go through the Disney route. I didn't go corny... I've been cool and collected."

Hear that, Miley, Nick, Kevin and Joe: you're corny. Would you care to respond?

He's thrown phones at people in fits of rage, and he once helped Martha Stewart murder a chicken.

But Russell Crowe is also one of the best actors of his generation, an Oscar winner and a multiple-time Best Actor nominee.

The native Australian was honored for those achievements yesterday, earning a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He posed at the event (below) with his family, wife Danielle and sons Charles and Tennyson, ages 6 and 3, respectively.

Perpetual Honor

As for his next project, Crowe will star as Robin Hood. The film opens on May 14, but he must apologize to all female fans: the handsome actor won't be donning any tights.

"They weren't invented until quite a few hundred years after when the story takes place," he said. "We start our story in 1199. Tights don't come into play until the 1600s. I do apologize to those who will be disappointed that there are no tights."

Tonight, Glee returns to Fox with its first new episode of 2010.

But fans of the musical comedy are already looking ahead to next week. That's because the April 20 installment of the show will feature nothing but Madonna singles, from "Vogue" to "4 Minutes"

The cast covers the latest issue of TV Guide and shares with the publication a few of its earliest Madonna memories. For instance:

  • Lea Michele attended Madonna’s Drowned World Tour three times and styled her hair like the Material Girl when she went to Bat Mitzvahs as a teenager.
  • Said Chris Colfer: "I was not allowed to listen to Madonna when I was younger... My mother and grandmother had all the CDs but didn’t want me to hear about sex.”
  • The newly-engaged Jane Lynch, pictured below in an iconic cone bra, recalls “sitting at a bar all drunk on Long Island ice teas watching her ‘Material Girl’ video and thinking, ‘How Ballsy.’"

Going Vogue

As for Glee spoilers involving the episode itself, fans can look forward to...

... Sue Sylvester starring in her own “Vogue” segment, which also involves Mercedes and Kurt.

... Mercedes and Kurt singing "4 Minutes," as part of the Cheerios.

... A rendition of “Like a Virgin” that focuses on three couples trying to lose their virginity.

Moreover, the show will release a CD full of these Madonna singles. It just keeps getting better, doesn't it?

With the talent level low and the contestants so similar, this season of American Idol has been considered a bore by most viewers. Ratings certainly reflect a drop in interest.

For that reason, producers are praying Adam Lambert will deliver a much-needed dose of excitement tonight, as he plays mentor to the remaining finalists.

But Ken Warwick tells Entertainment Weekly that he's also counting on the reverse coming true: he hopes the Lambert's appearance on the show will resurrect this singer's sidetracked career.

"The guy is an incredible talent, and he had an incredible following. And it kind of upsets me that at the moment he’s not doing quite as well," the executive producer said. "I don’t know what possessed him to do what he did at the AMAs, but he’s still struggling to live it down.

"Hopefully... we can start putting him back firmly where he belongs, as a major star. Because the guy is an incredible talent. He genuinely is. And it kind of breaks my heart to see someone with that much talent struggle a bit. So hopefully we can do back for him as he can do for us."

Adam Lambert returns to the stage that made him famous this week.

Aside from mentoring tonight, Lambert will return to the American Idol stage tomorrow.

From there, it's off to the GLAAD awards Saturday evening for another performance. Wrote Adam, regarding the event:

"GLAAD has advocated for out music artists, including myself, and I am proud to be part of the 21st Annual GLAAD Media Awards this year. GLAAD's work to share stories that grow acceptance and understanding about the gay and transgender community is so important in our culture today."

Will tune in to watch Lambert on Idol this week?

While it will always be funny to think of him as a sex tape star, Colin Farrell is making it clear that he wishes to be known as more than just a Hollywood bad boy.

On the wagon and focusing on his movie career, the Golden Globe winner is also taking up a few good causes. Chief among them: homophobia and the problems his brother, Eamon, has gone through as a gay man in Ireland.

Last week, Farrell spoke at an event for BeLonG To, an Irish LGBT organization aimed at teens, regarding his sibling's struggles. Said the actor:

"I can't remember much about the years of physical and emotional abuse my brother, Eamon, suffered. The thing I do remember, though, quite literally, is blood on his school shirt when he came home in the afternoon. The beatings and taunting were very frequent for him and a constant part of his school years.

"Intolerance is not genetically encoded - it is taught. It is learned at home. It is learned in the classrooms and it is learned anywhere else we gather as a group. Bullying is torture, it is another betrayal of basic human decency and its scars reach into the future of its survivors."

  • Stopping in the Street
  • Colin, Coming Through!

Recently, Khloe Kardashian also spoke out against bullying.

If this a new cause celebrities are lining up for, it's certainly one we can get behind.

Bret Michaels is no strangers to doctors. Typically when he schedules an appointment to see them, however, it's due to a burning sensation when he urinates.

That wasn't the case on Sunday night, as the rocker couldn't make it through a concert in San Antonio. He was rushed to the hospital with stomach pains and underwent an emergency appendectomy.

Fortunately, all went smoothly. Bret "remains in the hospital, is doing well and beginning the recovery process," his rep says. He can resume inappropriate duets with 17-year olds some time in the near future.

While the former Poison frontman "has been known to perform under extreme conditions," his rep added, the insider also said his client will "have no choice but to reschedule some of his April tour dates."

Michaels is looking at bed rest over the next few days. But lying between the sheets, in an uncomfortable position, is nothing new for the singer. There's just a promiscuous, drunk female underneath him most times.

Ryan Phillippe is sick of the press referring to him as a jerk.

This may be a crazy thought, but perhaps the jerk of an actor should have thought of that before he cheated on Reese Witherspoon.

Phillippe actually shared this thought with Howard Stern after a rep for Abbie Cornish announced that his client and the Stop-Loss star had broken up in February.

The actor's beef? He and Cornish privately ended their four-year relationship face-to-face, so why the get the press involved: "Who announces a breakup?" he asked. "I don't understand that! There's no need for that."

Note to Phillippe: you're a public figure. Get over it.

Phillippe continued to rant to the radio host.

"I'm tired of getting s-it on," he said. "I don't feel like I deserve it. Things happen! How many people have you broken up with over your life?"

How many A-list, Oscar-winning actresses - with whom we've borne two children - have we cheated on with another young starlet, you mean? Zero, thanks for asking.

Moreover, who is crapping on Ryan Phillippe?!? The guy is hosting Saturday Night Live this week. He's worked steadily for years. Sounds to us like the actor is throwing himself an attention-grabbing pity party. Don't RSVP, readers!

In closing, Phillippe said he and Witherspoon, who share joint custody of their kids, have mended all fences: "It's gotten to a place where we're great friends and great co-parents."

That's great. Now stop whining, dude.

Steven Seagal is under siege, as a woman named Kayden Nguyen is out for justice following allegedly heinous acts committed by the actor.

According to TMZ, Nguyen has sued Seagal. The charge: Trafficking women for sex.

Derek Lowe Mug Shot

A 23-year-old former model, Kayden says she interviewed with Seagal in February 2009 for the position of executive assistant. The good news? She got the gig. The bad news?

"Mr. Seagal had been keeping two young female Russian 'Attendants' on staff who were available for his sexual needs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week," she says in the lawsuit.

Because one of these "Attendants" had recently quit, Kayden alleges she was expected to fulfill those duties. Specifically, Seagal treated her "as his sex toy," Nguyen claims, going into detail about how he shoved his hands under her skirt and pants, and attempted to fondle her boobs.

A case of alleged sex trafficking? Sounds like a case for Steven Seagal Lawman!

Along with these allegations of sexual assault, Nguyen accuses the actor of forcing her to consume illegal pills.  He supposedly said to her: "My wife wouldn't mind if you and I had a sexual relationship."

Nguyen is seeking over a million dollars in damages.

Seagal has been seeking a respectable movie career for about thirty years now.
