Hilton Hater

I am a senior staff writer at THG and a big fan of Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Robert Pattinson. I believe Kim Kardashian is bad for society, but great for attention, and that The Real Housewives should all be banned from existence.

Over the next few weeks, Fantasia Barrino has a new album and a new season of her reality show coming out.

For that reason, it's been hard for some people to not question the authenticity of her recent problems, which started with an accusation that she made a sex tape with a married man and climaxed with a hospitalization for a pill overdose.

But the former American Idol champion says she really did sink that low on August 9.

"I didn't have any fight in me. I didn't care about anything. I just wanted out," Fantasia tells VH1 in a new Behind the Music interview, which airs tomorrow, the same day her new CD comes out.

Continuing to defend her against accusations that this is all an orchestrated PR stunt, Barrino added:

"I just sat in the closet and looked at the mirror and took all the pills in the bottle. I wanted to go to sleep and just be at peace. I knew exactly what I was doing. You can't accidentally take a whole bottle of pills."

True. But you can ensure you'll be found before it's too late, as Fantasia did by texting manager Brian Dickens about 10 minutes after ingesting the pills.

Still, the singer - who reality show cameras have filmed alongside scandalous boyfriend Antwaun Cook over the last few days - insists she was upset when she awoke in the hospital and realized she was "still in this hellhole."

"I was tired of people doing me wrong, constantly, over and over again, dealing with my family – my father, dealing with men and their shit – I was tired," she says of the incident. "My head was hurting me. I was over it."

What do you think? Was the overdose truly a sign of Fantasia wanting to end her life? Or, we shudder to even think it, of her wanting to increase album sales and reality show ratings?

He's been called out by Sean Penn and legally denied by Haitian officials.

Still, Wyclef Jean refuses to give up on his bid to become the next President of Haiti.

A few days after an electoral board disqualified his nomination, the singer has released a statement saying he plans on fighting the ruling.

"After careful consideration and much soul-searching, I have made the decision to contest Haiti's board of elections' pronouncement stating that I am ineligible to run for the presidency of the country," Wyclef said. "I will be seeking a solution through legal channels, and I urge my countrymen to be patient through this process."

The former Fugees member confirmed he'll send a lawyer to a Haitian court Monday with documentation proving he's eligible to be a candidate.

Among the problems the country's electoral board have with his inclusion on the list of nominees is the fact that Wyclef's permanent address is listed as New Jersey. But Wyclef Tweeted yesterday:

"We have met all the requirements set by the laws. And the law must be respected."

The latter is certainly true. But the singer is in danger of making this election more about himself than about the ravaged nation from which he hails. He can do a great deal of good without running for President.

The former is a global sensation, one of the most popular recording artists on the planet.

The latter is best known for portraying the title character of a canceled ABC comedy.

On paper, this fashion face-off between Beyonce Knowles and America Ferrera should not be close, as all signs indicate a clear advantage for Mrs. Jay-Z.

But stranger things have happened. Who would have thought Spencer Pratt might release a Heidi Montag sex tape, for instance? Okay, terrible example.

Still, it's up to readers, not resumes, to decide the fate of these beauties. Compare, contrast and then vote below...

Beyonce vs. America

Who looks prettier in this dress?

Secrets aren't always no fun. Secrets don't always hurt someone.

Demi Lovato learned this lesson the hard way, as she's busy touring the country with The Jonas Brothers and promoting Camp Rock 2 - but all she hears are questions about her break-up with Joe Jonas.

"It's not very much fun when you break up in a public relationship. So, maybe next time keep a secret," she tells People magazine. "You want to shout it from the rooftops. That's what you do when you fall in love. At the same time, I learned my lesson. I'll go public when I marry someone one day."

Maturing Star

In the meantime, Demi says she's "perfectly happy" being single and continues to defend her ex from criticisms of how he handles a split, mostly stemming from his dumping of Taylor Swift.

"I know that he has the best intentions," Lovato says. "Definitely most guys don't have the same intentions that he does."

Demi turned 18 last week, readers, and it's not too late to wish this actress a very happy birthday.

It's totally on between Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton.

The former BFFs reportedly got into a fight in Las Vegas last week because the latter sex tape star was pissed over the attention given to the former sex tape star.

Now, Kim is taking it to Paris again. The reality star launched her new fragrance at a party over the weekend, just a short period of time after Hilton did the same. But while Paris had to resort to a lame Marilyn Monroe gimmick to sell hers product, Kardashian just stood on the red carpet and smiled.

She did don a new haircut, however. Do you like these bangs?

You know what they say: the couple that poses naked and bloody on a magazine cover together stay together.

With that in mind, we send our heartiest congratulations out to Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer. The True Blood co-stars got married at a private residence in Malibu, California yesterday, exchanging vows beneath a tent across the street from the beach.

Tamera Mowry, Adam Housley

Paquin and Moyer got engaged last summer. They've anchored the HBO hit for almost three seasons now, with the former playing supernatural waitress Sookie Stackhouse and the latter vampire Bill Compton.

"With Anna it's just about pure trust, on camera and off," Moyer told the July issue of Playboy. "I have never trusted anybody like I trust Anna."

Guess even blood suckers get be sweet and sentimental.

Bill O'Reilly hosts the highest-rated cable news show on television.

As a result, one would hope the Fox News anchor would use such a pulpit to tackle important, practical issues facing the country. Instead, he chimes in on the latest celebrity gossip headlines in order to conjure up controversy and make headlines for himself.

First, he took issue with Jennifer Aniston's comment that science allows older, single women to have a baby these days via in vitro fertilization. O'Reilly referred to this harmless, factual point as "destructive to our society."

Now, the talk show host has set his sights on Justin Bieber and the photo shoot he did for Elle with Kim Kardashian. Said O'Reilly:

"I wanted to be a baseball player [when I was 16]. I didn't want to hang around with Kim Kardashian...I had a baseball bat and a bat and [a pair of] ice skates! That's what I was doing... if a 16-year-old girl was pictured with a 29-year-old man in any of that, he'd be in big trouble."

For Elle

By sitting a few feet in front of Kim Kardashian, Justin Bieber is clearly helping to destroy society, right, Bill O'Reilly?

Added Republican strategist Margaret Hoover, a panelist on The O'Reilly Factor: "I think it's gross. It's a 16-year-old having an affair with a celebutante!"

It's actually just a 16-year old sitting next to, and running along the beach with, a celebutante. But why would Fox News let facts get in the way of an imaginary scandal that increases ratings? Sarah Palin doesn't do that with the First Amendment.

There's no reason to think the network that provides her talking points will do so any time soon.

Jay Mariotti annoys viewers of ESPN's Around the Horn on a daily basis.

But the sports journalist is now in trouble for far more than inane ramblings and unfunny jokes.

Mariotti was arrested early this morning in Los Angeles on a felony charge of domestic violence, reports the L.A. County Sheriff's Department website. The arrest took place at 4:30 a.m.

A former write for The Chicago Sun-Times, Mariotti was released after posting $50,000 bail. In 2004, he got into a fight with a White Sox announcer who claimed Mariotti was a "fraud" for never entering the club house of the team he covered.

Justin Bieber is finally setting his sights on a woman closer to his age.

The 16-year old has made his crushes on older beauties such as Kim Kardashian and Megan Fox well known, most recently saying Katy Perry and Cheryl Cole were "two of the hottest girls in the world."

But in a new interview with Great Britain's The Sun, Bieber doesn't hide his feelings for Harry Potter star Emma Watson, 20. He says of the actress:

"I would love to take her out for dinner. It would be great if she could come to one of my concerts, then we could hang out afterwards. I love the fact she is one of the biggest female movie stars, but has chosen to go back to college. It shows she is really grounded and normal."

  • Give It Up For Me!
  • Beautiful Emma

It's true: Watson attends Brown University and is considered one of the more unaffected child stars the entertainment industry has ever seen.

She is dating George Craig, however, and we aren't a fan of her new haircut. Justin could probably do better. Who do you think he should date?

Ke$ha may be an eccentric artist that dons unusual fashion choices and rakes in millions of dollars via album sales.

But, really, the singer is just like you and me: she likes to know what time it is.

"My schedule’s so tight and so crazy, and if I go get lost on a mountain or I’m writing a song, sometimes I lose track of time," she says of her decision to pose for a new Baby-G watch campaign.

The singer, who recently defended Adam Lambert's VMA snub, is seen below in a series of promotional pics for the company. Click on each to enlarge and then watch a video of her behind the scenes at the shoot:
