I am a senior staff writer at THG and a big fan of Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Robert Pattinson. I believe Kim Kardashian is bad for society, but great for attention, and that The Real Housewives should all be banned from existence.

After more than three decades together, it's the end of the world as R.E.M. knows it - and the band sounds fine.

The alternative rock group - featuring singer Michael Stipe, guitarist Peter Buck, 54, and bassist Mike Mills -- announced today that they have split up after 31 years of cranking out hits.

"As lifelong friends and co-conspirators, we have decided to call it a day as a band," the band said in a statement on its official website. "We walk away with a great sense of gratitude, of finality and of astonishment at all we have accomplished."

R.E.M. released 15 albums over the years, most recently "Collapse Into Now" this March.

Like Alex McCord and Cindy Barshop, Jill Zarin is no longer a Real Housewife of New York City.

Also like Alex McCord and Cindy Barshop, though, Zarin doesn't sound bitter about her firing.

"I've had four amazing years on The Real Housewives of New York City," Zarin wrote on her website "I'm grateful for the experiences and friendships I've made on the show. I've certainly learned a lot about myself and others. The show has decided to take a different direction and unfortunately I will not be a part of Season five."

Like the aforementioned narcissists, Jill also plugged a product and an alleged new show in her statement:

"For all the people who have supported me and wished me well, you can see me on a new show that will be announced soon. I will also be making personal appearances around the country promoting my new line of shapewear and leggings called SKWEEZ COUTUR."

It's as depressing as it is unsurprising: Courtney Stodden and Doug Hutchinson will star in their own reality show.

The rumor that got started a soon as this 17-year old married this 51-year old is now a fact, confirmed this week by Courtney's attention-starved mother Krista. She tells Radar Online that her daughter and her creepy son-in-law have signed with Roy Bank, the president of Merv Griffin Entertainment.

Courtney Stodden Music Video Still

"We are proud that we were able to find the perfect producer for our reality show and are thrilled to be working with this prestigious production company," Krista says, previewing the series to come by adding:

"They are going to be very, very open about their lives. They want everybody to see their life. Nothing is off limits."

We know, Krista. The couple made that obvious by getting married in the first place.

Somehow, during a break from his lie-filled life, Brad Pitt found time this week to fly to Oakland and attend the premiere of Moneyball.

He struck a pose on the red carpet of the event and looked like his usual, dapper self, which could cause a problem for co-star Jonah Hill. Perhaps inspired by the underdog story of the movie in which they both are featured, Hill has challenged Pitt to a Fashion Face-Off.

Does the trimmed-down actor have a chance? Compare, contrast and decide for yourself:

Selena Gomez loves shoes, hates jeans and is learning more and more Canadian vocabulary by the day.

The singer touched on all these topics and more in an interview with Fashion, responding to questions about everything from shopping to music to Justin Bieber. Excerpts from the interview are below...

Ray J has been caught on tape once again. This time, though, Kim Kardashian won't become a millionaire as a result.

The aspiring singer was thrown out of Moon nightclub in Las Vegas over the weekend because he threw down with Fabolous as a result of the rapper mocking Ray's singing abilities - and TMZ has acquired footage of the fight!

In it, you can actually see 50 Cent standing between the artists and smiling. Sources say he prompted Kim's ex-lover to stand up for himself, but did then attempt to break up the fisticuffs once they broke out. See for yourself:

Tony Bennett appeared on Howard Stern's radio show yesterday to promote his new album, Duets II.

But the talk turned to 9/11 after the iconic singer said he met President George W. Bush, who told him personally that going into Iraq was a "mistake." Stern wondered whether America had a choice, which promoted Bennett to respond:

"But who are the terrorists? Are we the terrorists or are they the terrorists? Two wrongs don't make a right... They flew the plane in, but we caused it because we were bombing them and they told us to stop."

Following yet another arrest, Matt Hardy is headed to rehab.

The professional wrestler, who was booked on suspicion of DUI last month, was actually led back to the police last week after his girlfriend, Reby Sky, called 911 because she was concerned Hardy "was strung out on pills."

Authorities subsequently obtained a search warrant for Hardy's house and found prescription painkillers in a safe, along with 20 vials of anabolic steroids and some ecstasy. Hardy turned himself in on Monday, posted bail and then released the following video, which says he's embarking on a three-month rehab program paid for by the WWE:

UPDATE: Reby says she was coerced by police into turning her boyfriend in, telling TMZ she "would never do anything to put [Matt] in a compromising position with the law."

Love him, hate him or really, really hate him, there's no denying the drawing power of Charlie Sheen.

This warlock's Comedy Central Roast garnered an incredible 6.4 million viewers on Monday night, setting a network record for a special of this nature and out-drawing anything that aired on Fox or NBC.

Being Roasted

Said Sheen when he took to the podium, following digs from Seth MacFarlane, Jon Lovitz, Kate Walsh, Mike Tyson, William Shatner and others:"It was only when the smoke cleared, I realized just how lucky I am. Even after all that, I still have a family that loves me."

The absence of Sheen was also a winner Monday evening: Ashton Kutcher's debut on Two and a Half Men led to that show's highest-ever ratings. Nearly 28 million people watched.
