Hilton Hater

Hilton Hater

I am a senior staff writer at THG and a big fan of Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Robert Pattinson. I believe Kim Kardashian is bad for society, but great for attention, and that The Real Housewives should all be banned from existence.

On March 17, American journalist Laura Ling was arrested by North Korean military on the Chinese border.

Now comes to the really troubling news: following her and friend Euna Lee's June 4 trial for alleged "hostile acts," Ling - whose sister Lisa is a talk show host - has been sentence to 12 years in a North Korea labor camp.

As first reported by CNN, the Korean Central News Agency says the women will be serving time "for the grave crime they committed against the Korean nation and their illegal border crossing."

The U.S. State Department has not given up hope of their return home, however. Said spokesman Ian Kelley in a statement:

"We are deeply concerned by the reported sentencing of the two American citizen journalists by North Korean authorities, and we are engaged through all possible channels to secure their release. We once again urge North Korea to grant the immediate release of the two American citizen journalists on humanitarian grounds."

Lisa Ling (pictured, on the left, with her sister above), meanwhile, has said she hopes this tragic situation can at least enable the U.S. and North Korea to move forward with diplomatic talks:

"We would champion the opportunity to have these girls be the catalyst for diplomacy. I think it could be really amazing. The problem right now is that our two countries don't have a diplomatic relationship and so communication has been really limited. We are trying to encourage our two countries to come together and if this is the reason why they do, then we'll take it.

At last night's Young Hollywood Awards, Adam Lambert may have arrived alone, but he left with some major hardware.

The American Idol runner-up walked the red carpet without boyfriend Drake LaBry, but picked up the ceremony's Artist of the Year award, which was presented by Kara DioGuardi.

The random ceremony recognizes outstanding accomplishments of emerging artists. Lambert certainly has to be included in that group.

Here are photos of him from the event. Click on each one for a larger version...

While a slew of celebrities may attend Los Angeles Lakers games on a nightly basis, how many actually take to the court and perform?

Such was the position in which Kris Allen found himself last night, as the American Idol champion performed the National Anthem prior to Game Two of the NBA Finals.

The Lakers and disloyal husband Kobe Bryant went on to take a commanding series lead with an overtime victory, but the evening's big winner was Allen. He did a great job.

Meanwhile, Allen has landed a deal with Jive Records; his album will drop this fall.

"As exciting as the last few months have been, I'm really looking forward to what is next," Allen said in a statement today. "I'm very grateful to be working with Simon Fuller and his team at 19 Entertainment, along with Barry Weiss and Jive Records on my debut album."

Two beautiful actresses.

Two black dresses.

Only one winner!

Anne Hathaway and Gina Gershon walked the red carpet at last night's Tony Awards, held at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The former was missing any deceitful Italian boyfriends, while the latter... isn't really famous enough for us to joke about.

One hosted the event, the other may have been hiding out there to avoid bad reviews for his latest film.

But while both Neil Patrick Harris and Will Ferrell make us laugh, only one can be crowned the winner of this Fashion Face-Off.

The How I Met Your Mother star and the big-time movie draw are seen below on the red carpet for the 2009 Tony Awards. Who looks more dashing?

When it comes to Kate Gosseln vs. Octomom, everyone loses. Badly.

While it's not as embarrassing for society, it's almost as difficult to choose a side in the new feud between Lindsay Lohan and Dr. Drew Pinsky.

First, the world's most attention-starved doctor spoke to Parade magazine about the trainwreck of an actress. He said:

"I'm convinced that she'll get sober one day. But I'm afraid that between now and then, she may get a nearly mortal wound of some type. I'm really convinced that something horrible is going to have to happen to her before she really gets over it and embraces sobriety. She needs to give it up. And it's going to be a while before she does. I have this image that she's going to lose a limb or something before she does. And it scares me."

Can you even choose a side in the growing rivalry between Lindsay Lohan and Dr. Drew?

Lohan's response to this supposedly helpful advice? It arrived courtesy of Twitter:

"I thought REAL doctors talked to patients in offices behind closed doors. Am I wrong? Hmmmmm. I think NOT. Yay!"

You're right, Lindsay. Pinsky is a fame-mongering hack. But you're Lindsay Lohan. You both lose.

Think you're the biggest New Moon fan in the world?

Below, take a look at one British woman's reaction to the film's recently-released trailer - replete with gasping, wheezing, cringing, cursing and, quite possibly, orgasming - and think again.

We mock, but this is similar to how many staff members react when they look at Robert Pattinson pictures.

Hey, to each her totally insane own.

Might George Clooney soon lose his title of The Planet's Most Eligible Bachelor?

Yes, if Lucy Wolvert has anything to say about it.

The aspiring model just started dating the actor last month, but is "totally smitten with George," a friend told tabloid The Globe. “They’ve started out casual, but things are moving fast and she’s told friends they’re planning to spend a large part of the summer together."

Beneath this gruff exterior, George Clooney knows how to please a woman.

Wolvert is also telling pals that she might move in with Clooney. It would be hard to blame her. After all:

“Besides being an amazing lover, Lucy says George is a true gentleman who really knows how to treat a lady," the source said. “Everyone’s just hoping it lasts and she doesn’t get her heart broken.”

What do you think, readers? Will this relationship last?

We know what you're thinking:

Didn't we see enough of Kim Kardashian acting during her sex tape with Ray J?

Kim Getting Married?!?

The answer, of course, is no.

That's why we're excited to tune in to Kim's primetime debut, as she guest stars on this Monday's episode of Beyond the Break, some random show on Nickelodeon. Check out Kardashian as the character of Elle below:

We've said it before and we'll say it again:

Megan Fox has to do more posing naked and less talking.

In the latest issue of British GQ, the actress compared actors and actresses to prostitutes.

Classy in GQ

Now, in excerpts from the same interview, she's comparing men to dogs. Here's what we mean:

On fame: "It doesn't mean anything. Anyone can be famous."

On marijuana: "I hope they legalize it and when they do I'll be the first f--king person in line to buy my pack of joints."

On men that come on to her: "Retards. Ridiculous. So pathetic!"

On men, in general: "[They are] weak. Like puppies."

Look, Megan, if you hate us so much, there's an entire gender just waiting for your breasts and your smile. You can start with Olivia Wilde.
