I am a senior staff writer at THG and a big fan of Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Robert Pattinson. I believe Kim Kardashian is bad for society, but great for attention, and that The Real Housewives should all be banned from existence.

Does American Idol the next Adam Lambert on its hands?

It's difficult not to make such a comparison upon hearing James Durbin sing, but the aspiring contestant arrived for his audition in San Francisco last night with a very different backstory from that of the season eight finalist.

Durbin couldn't hold back his emotion when talking about his son, or even when belting out a version of "Dream On." This is a young man whose father died of an overdose when he was nine, and who has been diagnosed with Tourette's Syndrome. It's emotional, impressive, stuff. Watch now.

Durbin is a rumored member of this season's top 40, along with other San Francisco golden ticket recipients Brittany Mazur, Stefano Langone and Julie Zorrilla.

Simply put, Stefano Langone wants this.

The 21-year old Washington native shared his personal story with American Idol judges in San Francisco last night: in 2009, he survived a terrible car accident, from which was doctors gave him little chance to walk or function normally again...

... but he was back on his feet within four months.

Inspiring stuff, to be sure, but it was Stefano's rendition of "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" (below) that helped him advance to Hollywood. Then again, those "movie star good looks," as J. Lo said, likely didn't hurt.

She's already earned the titles of Miss Tucson Valley, Miss Arizona Cinderella, International Cinderella Teen, Miss Arizona's Outstanding Teen and Miss Tucson.

But Brittany Mazur has her eyes set firmly on an even bigger prize: American Idol champion.

The 21-year old Arizona native, who lists "chicken and dumplings" as two of her favorite teaches, and who says she loves to "teach children to sing and dance," received a golden ticket to Hollywood last night.

How far can this beauty queen go? Only a snippet of her audition is available online, but the following rendition of "Listen" from Dreamgirls proved that Mazur is more than just a pretty face who looks good in an evening gown:

When Julie Zorrilla first walked in to her San Francisco audition on American Idol last night, the judges couldn't get over her shoes.

By the time this contestant exited, however, it was her voice and her story that was the talk of the show.

Zorrilla, who turned 20 the day of her try out, currently resides in Hollywood. But she grew up in Colombia, only to flee it with her parents during trying times of political turmoil. How impressed was Randy by her talent? He compared her to Fantasia. That's quite the compliment...

Charlie Sheen is feeling generous. And not just when it comes to pay porn stars.

Multiple sources tell TMZ the actor is unhappy that Warner Brothers has not offered to pay CBS employees for the time they've missed due to his nutty behavior - but he's willing to compromise with the company and pay a portion of this amount.

If Warner Bros. and CBS both pay 1/3 of the money owed, Sheen will reportedly do the same. Who said this guy wasn't giving?!? Aside from Kacey Jordan, that is.

A CBS executive had no comment, while a WB insider simply says:

"We sincerely hope that Charlie's rehab is going well. We hope that he is healthy in the very near future and we look forward to the return of production of Two and a Half Men."

Sources say Miley Cyrus got cozy with Josh Bowman on the set of So Undercover.

And, yes, as depicted in the video below, the two were clearly cuddling up to each other in Griffith Park on Sunday.

But, no, Cyrus and her co-star are NOT an item, she insists. Asked about Bowman at last night's Justin Bieber movie premiere. Cyrus told E! News:

"I'm dating nobody! We were at the park sitting together. We're really good friends and he takes really good care of my dog, so that was rad."

Bowman does have a lot of experience with dogs, it's true. Just look at who he previously boinked.

We have an update on wounded Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, and it's nothing but good news:

The Arizona politician, who was one of several victims of a January shooting spree, is recovering at TIRR Memorial Hermann rehabilitation hospital in Houston and has recently regained the ability to speak.

"It's very good news," spokesman C.J. Karamargin tells CNN, adding that Giffords asked for a piece of toast this week.

Why that facility?

"The reason for choosing this rehab facility is because of their track record," Karamargin said. "They are doing a fabulous job and working with her language and speech exercise and the physical therapy part of it."

If you were looking for energy and many bright lights, The Black Eyed Peas Super Bowl halftime performance went perfectly on Sunday.

But if you tuned in hoping to hear perfect sound mixing and smooth vocals, you were one of the many critics disappointed in the results.

In a new interview with Pop Eater, group member Taboo acknowledges a few "technical problems," but defends the performance overall, explaining:

The thing about it is there were 100 million viewers. If you get 60 million people who didn't like it and you get 40 million that did like the show, that's a pretty cool thing because you can't please everybody. Everybody who is a critic is going to criticize and annihilate everything you do even if it's a good thing. They just want to bring it down.

As many people who are blogging about how disappointed they were, there's a lot of people in the streets who really loved the show.

What did you think of the performance?

For the first time since she was caught smoking salvia in December, Miley Cyrus has spoken out about the incident.

Asked why such an uproar resulted from an action in which other teenagers also take part, the 18-year old seemed to actually understand her place in society for a change:

"They're not Miley Cyrus," she said. "They're not role models. So for me it was a bad decision, because of my fans and because of what I stand for."

While Miley didn't comment on new boyfriend Josh Bowman, with whom she was recently photographed, the magazine did touch on another awkward topic: the divorce of Cyrus' parents.

"Anyone is going to be upset when there are troubles in their family," she said. "But I have a lot of hope in our family and no matter what happens, we're gonna stay strong."

Forget the attempt at smoldering photos above (please put on a bra, Miles), these answers show a mature side to Miley unlike any we've seen before.
