Not even 48 hours after his ex-wife, Britney Spears, checked out of the UCLA psych ward, where she was being held for treatment of her apparent bipolar disorder, Kevin Federline announced that his new reality show will be put on hold.

Yes, Kevin Federline had a new reality show in the works.

Britney, Jason, Kevin

The E! show was set to "document the life of single, working dad." Which is odd, since we assumed it would be about Kevin Federline.

But seriously folks. K-Fed may be a failed rapper, but he has shown maturity in staying out of the limelight during Britney's meltdowns and keeping their sons Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, out of the public eye as well.

FedEx also has a daughter Kori, 6, and a son Kaleb, 4, with Shar Jackson.

"His plans are on hold because of the Britney situation. He had planned to do it, but not now," a source close to the Kevin Federline told E! yesterday.

This would be K-Fed's second venture in reality TV, the first with Britney Spears on the UPN's Britney & Kevin: Chaotic, which aired in 2005.

Federleezy also has TV credits that include a funny Super Bowl ad, a guest spot on CSI, a stint on One Tree Hill and a memorable turn as a WWE wrestler.

Time for your morning Britney Spears news update - legal style.

Jamie Spears' attorney and Britney Spears' co-conservator, Andrew Wallet, met for a closed-door session. Discussing what? We're not sure.

A court spokesperson said everything about yesterday's matter is sealed, and he could not disclose even why they were even in court.

We had speculated that Jamie was seeking help from the court in enforcing his legal control over Britney, who he feels was released too soon from UCLA.

Meanwhile, Laura Wasser, Brit's former attorney, paid a visit to the UCLA psych ward last Tuesday and it looks like she may be retained again.

Laura Wasser represented Britney Spears in her divorce from Kevin Federline, but ended up quitting the case. Several accounts say this was because Britney wouldn't listen to her. But now, Jamie and Lynne Spears want her back.

Laura Wasser, Britney Spears' former lawyer, may be retained by Jamie Spears, who hates that Britney's current legal team is so tight with Osama "Sam" Lutfi.

Britney's parents, particularly Jamie (who is still her co-conservator) want to axe Trope and Trope as Britney's legal counsel, in part because they have been chummy with the family's nemesis, Brit's BFF Sam Lutfi.

According to witnesses at UCLA, Britney "lit up" when she saw Wasser. But there's a hitch - Britney can't fight the conservatorship, which gives Jamie control of her estate as she is treated for bipolar disorder.

As of Tuesday, she was fine letting Jamie call the shots, but it looks like that's changed. If Britney accepts the conservatorship and Jamie is at the reins, Laura Wasser could be back in the Britney Spears business.

Meanwhile, Sam Lutfi has not been served with the restraining order sought and obtained by Britney Spears' parents - yet.

If he comes in contact with her, it technically wouldn't violate the order issued against him - since he hasn't officially been given notice.

It's a technicality, yes, but Sam Lutfi could (and likely will) argue that he doesn't know about the thing since he hasn't even seen it.

The Hills star Audrina Patridge crossed paths with Justin Brescia, a.k.a. Justin-Bobby, at Hollywood hot spot Les Deux Wednesday night.

Audrina, who split with Justin last year, was seen vying for her former beau's attention for most of the night, says an observer.

Call Security

"She was trying to get his attention, talking and touching his arm," a spy tells People. "They didn't seem awkward at all with each other."

Gag. Could they be rekindling their romance? Who knows, but that night, Audrina definitely enjoyed the presence of Justin-Bobby.

Anytime that jackass Justin-Bobby is around, you can bet there will be drama with Audrina Patridge - and you can bet that The Hills cameras will be rollin'.

"[Audrina] was trying hard to get him to stay next to her and occasionally she succeeded," the spy says. "They laughed and shared looks at each other's phone a couple times and it seemed to make Audrina really happy."

But the feeling may have not been mutual:

"He didn't seem as interested in talking to her as she was with him. Justin just went on with his night and didn't seem phased by her presence."

Are we surprised? Hells no. We are talking about Justin Brescia! As Lauren Conrad said, he doesn't like talking or kissing! Worst boyfriend ever!

In the opinion of this fan of The Hills, Audrina is better off playing the field and spending time with sister (and new mom) Casey Patridge.

Apparently Michael Vick has taught people nothing.

Aside from any immoralities involved with betting on animals maiming and killing each other, it's not exactly great for one's public image.

Cockfighting may be legal in his native Dominican Republic, so New York Mets pitcher Pedro Martinez won't be joining Vick in jail.

But Pedro was caught on camera tossing roosters into a cockfight - and a pissed off PETA is retaliating with some chin music of its own.

PETA slammed Pedro Martinez for setting a dreadful example for fans, kids in particular. Major League Baseball also discourages gambling of any kind.

Moreover, PETA says roosters used in cockfights have their spurs shaved off and replaced by razors, and they're given steroids to make them more aggressive.

Hmm, sounds appropriate for a baseball star! Right, Roger Clemens?

The future Hall of Famer was pictured bringing roosters into the ring as an honorary "saltador," a person who releases the animal into the death ring.

As the cockfight goes on, the 36-year-old, three-time Cy Young winner can be seen in the audience, smiling and laughing.

With Pedro Martinez was Hall of Fame pitcher Juan Marichal. Cockfighting is legal and popular in Martinez' native Dominican Republic.

The Mets had no comment.

Heidi Fleiss and some dude who may or may not have been planning on hitting that were arrested this afternoon in Pahrump, Nevada.

Yes, that is a real place.

During the traffic stop, police found prescription narcotics for which Heidi Fleiss was unable to produce a valid prescription

Fleiss' passenger, John Owen, was also arrested for allegedly possessing a controlled substance and for possession of marijuana.

A pair of (quasi) celebrity mug shots below for your enjoyment ...

But that's all!

The renowned pimp is planning on opening so-called "Heidi Fleiss' Stud Farms" in Nye County, Nev., where brothels are legal. Heidi currently operates a laundromat called "Dirty Laundry" in Pahrump. Really. She does.

Amy Winehouse will not be performing at this year's Grammy Awards because her request for a visa has been turned down by the U.S. Embassy.

We can't even guess why the U.S. Embassy would make such a decision. Unless it has to do with massive amounts of drugs Winehouse takes.

Riding Her Animal

As evidenced by, you know, that video of her smoking crack. Anyway.

"Amy has been progressing well since entering a rehabilitation clinic two weeks ago and although disappointed with the decision has accepted the ruling and will be concentrating on her recovery," The Outside Organization, which represents the struggling retro-soul sensation, said in a statement.

Amy Winehouse shot to fame with the autobiographical single "Rehab."

The 24-year-old and her acclaimed Back to Black album are nominated in six categories for at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Amy Winehouse's old-school, potent blend of blues, jazz, pop and soul has won her ample praise from critics and fans, but Winehouse has become as famous - if not more - for her chaotic personal life as for her music career.

Since the album's successful U.S. release last year, she has canceled a slew of appearances amid meltdowns and reports of drug and alcohol use.

Her husband of nearly a year, Blake Fielder-Civil, is currently in jail awaiting trial on charges of assault and lying to police.

Has Britney Spears hit rock bottom?

Is she really trying to get well? Are the people close to her doing enough, or losing sight of what's important with their constant in-fighting?

These and so many other key questions remain unanswered (we welcome your comments) even by those close to the troubled Britney Spears.

To that end, this week's Us Weekly takes an in-depth look inside the ongoing struggle for the soul (and mind) of a fallen cultural icon.

Spears was released from UCLA yesterday after spending a week in its psych ward. Many believe the singer should have been held there longer.

Britney Spears' Fight

One of the article's focal points is - who else - Sam Lutfi.

Britney Spears' friend, de facto manager and confidant, who was recently hit with a restraining order after her parents made some startling allegations in court, has opened up about her bipolar disorder - and how he's trying to help her.

Sam Lutfi explained to the celebrity news site how he medicated her and what went the night she was hospitalized, as well as how her parents reacted.

"In [Britney's] depressive episodes, it's all crying," he said. "In manic episodes, there's very little crying or sympathy or compassion. She becomes another person. She becomes somebody that just doesn't care about anything."

"The British accent is part of the mania," Sam Lutfi, whose real first name is Osama, added. "She will stick to the British accent because she becomes comfortable with it... But you know, when the pink wig comes on, it's getting bad."

Lutfi says that when Spears was involuntarily committed to UCLA, her parents, Lynne and Jamie Spears, arrived and tried to get him away from Britney.

"Well, he is better family than you guys will ever be," Britney responded, according to Sam, who is obviously in full spin-machine mode.

Sam Lutfi also said that when the ambulance arrived to take Britney Spears away, "she was very quiet... when I told her, she wrote me a note and put a big heart on it and it said, 'I love you, Sam. Are there people coming? Circle yes or no.'"

"Oh, my God, it was funny. Just the cutest little thing. I circled yes and I gave it back to her, and she looked at me and she's like, 'Oh, lord, here we go again.'"

It's barely daybreak in California, but it's a good bet Jamie Spears will be back in court very soon, asking the Commissioner overseeing Britney Spears' continuing legal struggle to put some weight behind his conservatorship.

In layman's terms, Jamie technically has control of his daughter's estate while she receives treatment. And he's looking for some legal backup.

Britney was released by UCLA Medical Center yesterday after a week. Jamie and Lynne Spears, Britney's divorced parents, issued these remarks:

"As parents of an adult child in the throws (sic) of a mental health crisis, we were extremely disappointed this morning to learn that over the recommendation of her treating psychiatrist, our daughter, Britney Spears, was released from the hospital that could best care for her and keep her safe. We are deeply concerned about our daughter's safety and vulnerability and we believe her life is presently at risk. There are conservatorship orders in place created to protect our daughter that are being blatantly disregarded. We ask only that the court's orders be enforced so that a tragedy may be averted."

TRANSLATION: Per a court order, Jamie Spears may reject visitors and make financial decisions (as well as medical decisions) on Britney Spears' behalf. He believes the legal system is not doing its part in enforcing this authority.

According to TMZ, which cites legal experts, it's common for a conservator to ask for an order requiring police to enforce his/her instructions.

Jamie is quite frustrated, no doubt, that Britney hung out with Filipi Teixeira and rendezvoused with her paparazzi beau within hours of her discharge.

As if nothing ever happened, Britney Spears and Adnan Ghalib met up at her home away from home, the Beverly Hills Hotel, before visiting her lawyer.

In his estimation, Jamie Spears could call the Beverly Hills Police and ask them to remove visitors he deems inappropriate from Britney's presence.

Sam Lutfi, her friend and "manager," is already barred from seeing or contacting Spears in any fashion thanks to a restraining order.

If the court agrees to enforce his authority, you could see cops jump in and tell Britney she can't buy/do anything without Jamie Spears' consent.

That would go over really well. Stay tuned.
