Aspiring fashionista Whitney Port may be sufficiently blond and likable to pass as a reality TV star. But everyone agrees she's no Lauren Conrad.

That may be trouble, not only for Port's fledgling show, The City, a spinoff of the hugely successful The Hills, but for the whole documentary-soap genre that Lauren and her cohorts pioneered, according to the UK's Globe and Mail.

Lauren Conrad will return for her fifth season of The Hills this spring, but her show is clearly nearing an end: Last fall's Season Four ratings were down 25 percent, and LC herself has indicated she may be tiring of being filmed.

Therefore, The City, which was renewed for a second season this week, may hold the future of MTV's flagship franchise in its fumbling little hands.

The new show has certainly struggled to keep the format alive.

Last week, Whitney Port and her gang were getting together at an art opening, knowing that model Alli would be in the same room with the same woman who had allegedly kissed her boyfriend while she was out of town on a fashion shoot.

But as Whitney dutifully discussed the tense situation with her colleague at DVF, Olivia Palermo, and then with her Aussie rocker boyfriend, Jay Lyon, nobody really seemed all that interested in this manufactured City crisis.

Moreover, Olivia Palermo even interrupted Port midstream to tell her this was, like, TMI, a ghastly faux pas in this celebrity gossip-dependent genre.

“Jay doesn't know why [Whitney Port] cares, and Olivia doesn't care at all,” offered Jessi Cruickshank, co-host of The After Show, an MTV Canada series devoted to dissecting the lives of the apparently real people on these youth soaps.

So can MTV trust Whitney Port to carry this show - and people to watch?

Lisa Loeb tied the knot with Roey Hershkovitz, a music supervisor for Late Night with Conan O'Brien, on Saturday, according to People magazine.

The couple exchanged vows in a Jewish ceremony in front of 275 guests at a restaurant in New York City, the singer-songwriter's rep said.

The "Stay" singer, 40, wore a strapless pink wedding gown by Amsale Blue Label, while the groom wore a suit by Paul Smith.

Loeb and Hershkovitz met two years ago in New York City during a business meeting in which he was looking for a host for a food show he was developing.

The couple got engaged in November 2008.

Loeb somewhat recently starred in a 2006 E! reality show, #1 Single, about her attempts to find love, and had a cameo on Gossip Girl as herself last Spring.

Congrats to the couple, as well as to Anna Faris and Chris Pratt, who announced their engagement Friday. This will be a great year for celebrity weddings!

As we touched upon in our earlier examination of celebrity quotes on this important subject, Kim Kardashian is sick and tired of celeb gossip sites giving Jessica Simpson such a hard time over new and wildly controversial full figure.

"EVERYONE seems to be asking me about Jessica Simpson's alleged weight gain. I think it's absolutely ridiculous," blogged Kim Kardashian, adding that she's "probably twice Jessica's size, so what do you guys think of me then?"

  • Massive Boobs Alert!
  • Large and In Charge

Well, guys, you can answer that below:

Who would you rather ...

There was once a time when this was such a no-brainer, it wouldn't even be asked. Orlando Bloom was - and perhaps still is - one of Hollywood's top stud muffins.

Nowadays, though? Well, this picture of the shirtless actor chatting on his phone in between filming Sympathy for Delicious in downtown Los Angeles sums it up.

Well? Would you still... you know? The on-again-off-again boyfriend of Miranda Kerr seems to have put on a few pounds ... and the hair is another topic entirely:

Oh Adnan Ghalib and Sam Lutfi, how we have missed thee at The Hollywood Gossip. Jamie Spears, on the other hand? He'd like to never see them again.

Britney Spears' father has obtained three restraining orders - against her ex-boyfriend, her ex-manager and his attorney, according to court documents.

Jamie Spears and lawyer Andrew Wallet, who oversee Britney's affairs as co-conservators, allege that the three men "are now working in concert to disrupt the conservatorship with utter disregard for Ms. Spears' health and well being."

Spears' father says Britney's cell phone records indicate "numerous telephone conversations" as well as text messages with her ex-manager, Sam Lutfi, and former boyfriend, celebrity news photographer Adnan Ghalib.

SHADY AND SHADIER: Britney Spears hangers-on Adnan Ghalib, left, and Sam Lutfi.

"[Britney] innocently informs [Adnan Ghalib] of her destinations and he then arranges for paparazzi to meet and film her to his financial benefit," Jamie Spears says in court documents. "[Adnan] is harmful to Ms. Spears and to her recovery."

Her father also alleges that on December 27 and December 28, 2008, Sam Lutfi tried to contact Britney Spears through her hairdresser with the message that Lutfi was "not responsible for the conservatorship" of Jamie Spears.

As we've discussed at length, Jessica Simpson weighs a lot more than she did a few months ago. Now various celebrities are weighing in themselves on that topic...

Nick Lachey: I can't believe people are making such a huge deal about it. I'm never ceased to be amazed by people's reactions to things. | permalink
Paula Abdul: I think this is absolutely ridiculous. People are being so mean. People don't realize that it's damaging to one's psyche. For women, it's hard enough to be accepted for how you are. She's a beautiful girl. | permalink
Lisa Rinna: She looks fine; she looks great. If she's happy, who cares? I'm disgusted by it, to be honest with you. She looks healthy, she's got curves, she's Jessica Simpson! Give me a break! | permalink
Rose McGowan: I think Jessica Simpson should tell them to 'eff off.' It's sad because you see a lot of male actors who gain a lot of weight in between roles. The reality is, if I went and gained 30 pounds in between roles, I wouldn't get roles. I think that's sexism, and it drives me crazy! | permalink
Worst Jessica Simpson Picture Ever
Nicky Hilton: I think it sucks. I think the media is very cruel with that stuff. | permalink
Jordana Brewster: I think she is beautiful. I think it's really, really hard in Hollywood because there is an absurd standard that is really hard. It absolutely sucks. She shouldn't be judged so harshly. | permalink
Tori Spelling: She looks great. To be honest, I haven't noticed a difference, so all of a sudden when I saw her on the cover, in my opinion, she's [still] Jessica Simpson. You know what this means? She's still really popular. | permalink
Nick Lachey: I wish her nothing but the best, and I hope she's happy - whatever size that comes in. | permalink
Shaking That Thing
Heidi Klum: There are always people who are quick to offer an opinion and when you are in the public eye, people will always talk about you and put their opinions on you. That's what you get when you're in the public eye. But people need to be happy with the way they are. | permalink
Kim Kardashian: LEAVE HER ALONE!!! She is gorgeous. The fact that the media is sending this message to young girls is mind blowing! | permalink
Jessica Simpson: Please remember, no matter what you go through in life, somebody else might have it harder. So just appreciate. I feel like in our world today we focus on so many things that are completely pointless. | permalink

Proving that she doesn't need a disgraced, hockey-playing ex making lewd comments about her in order to make celebrity news headlines, the NHL's hottest neighborhood bicycle, Elisha Cuthbert, heats up the pages of Complex magazine.

The actress hasn't been in anything noteworthy in a while, but she's still the hottest export from Canada since ... well, Evangeline Lilly. Sorry, Elisha.

Complex Elisha Cuthbert

Yowza. We're pretty sure this sentence has never been spoken before in the history of the English language, but you are one lucky man, Dion Phaneuf. And we're not talking about the Calgary Flames' lead in the Northwest Division.

As we talked about at the end of last year, 2008 was a great year for plastic surgery. But there's plenty more where that came from - past and future!

Having said that, The Hollywood Gossip is pleased to announce its inaugural Celebrity Plastic Surgery Hall of Fame class of nine worthy inductees.

They aren't the first, nor will they be the last, to go under the knife and alter their looks unnecessarily. But they most certainly are a deserving bunch.

Without further ado, let's look at the Hall of Famers ...

The Hills' Heidi Montag was a cute girl, but decided that the stereotypical Hollywood bleach-blond tramp look worked better. At least she proudly admits it!

Nice lips, Brittany Murphy. They really look better now that they've quadrupled in size. Makes you wonder why more girls don't have this done as soon as they turn 12.
