There's a lot to like about Kristen Bell.

  1. She narrates one of the best shows on TV as Gossip Girl
  2. She's one of the scant few bright spots on the erratic, wildly uneven, shark-jumping sci-fi fiasco we know as Heroes
  3. She was delightfully bitchy as the title character in Forgetting Sarah Marshall
  4. These outtakes from her photo shoot for Complex magazine
Ring Our Bell!

While the last series of Complex pics we posted were a bit more, um, XXX-rated (that's Aubrey O'Day for you), Kristen sizzles in relatively conservative glory.

In the NHL, you get five-minutes in the penalty box for fighting, two for high-sticking, and thrown off your team for lewd comments about Elisha Cuthbert.

What a great league.

Sean Avery, Elisha Cuthbert

Just 23 games into his four-year, $15.5 million contract, the Dallas Stars say they cannot move forward with loudmouth winger Sean Avery. He will no longer play for the Stars once his six-game suspension by the NHL is completed.

Avery was suspended after he referred to Elisha Cuthbert as his sloppy seconds at an impromptu press conference last month. The actress is now dating Dion Phaneuf of the Calgary Flames, who were set to face off with Dallas that evening.

SORRY, DION PHANEUF: Thanks to Sean Avery's now-infamous comments, when it comes to Elisha Cuthbert, there's no doubt who got there first.

The team will look to help him move on (whatever that means) with his career and his life, co-general manager Brett Hull said. The fact they are willing to risk that loss illustrates just how much of a jackass Avery is viewed as.

In other news, NHL games continue to air on Vs. That's a TV network.

The 2008 election is over, but the same dude is still president until January 20, and in the increasingly rare cases when his handlers let him out of his cage for a public appearance, there's always a chance for entertainment.

Case in point: yesterday an Iraqi journalist threw two shoes at President George W. Bush at a news conference during his surprise visit to Iraq. The prez ducked.

Among Muslims, throwing one's shoes at another person, or sitting so that the bottom of a shoe faces another person, is apparently considered a major insult.

It could be considered warranted, as the man is not smart. Peep it:

After coming across some non-remixed, no-effects sound bites, The Hollywood Gossip previously proclaimed Britney Spears to be the worst singer ever.

She's now got competition in the form of Kanye West.

Performing "Love Lockdown" (and we use the term loosely) on Saturday Night Live, West wasn't just mediocre, he was reach-for-the-mute-button terrible. Seriously, we thought this guy was supposed to be at least semi-talented live ...

Yeah. Pretty tone-deaf there, Kanye. We've tortured our readers enough, but should any of you self-haters wish to continue making your ears bleed, here's his not-much-better performance of "Heartless" from later in the broadcast ...

After embarking on her epic trip to Japan, Britney Spears touched down, then took a break from a hectic schedule of walking around with a stop at a snack shop.

This was posted on her official site:

Click to enlarge more Britney Spears photos below. Brit and a girl we believe to be her assistant Brett are seen shopping. Looks like an amazing time. Seriously, girls, try to contain yourselves. Great photography, too, whoever took these:

BFFs from their pre-Laguna Beach days to the present on The Hills, Lauren Bosworth (a.k.a. Lo) and Lauren Conrad (a.k.a. LC) are still close as ever, coyzing up at the Hornitos Midnight in the Garden of Agave event Thursday in L.A.:

FRIENDS 4 LYFE: We've learned this much: everywhere Lauren Conrad goes, the slightly passive-aggressive but still generally nice enough Lo Bosworth will be close behind.

According to Chicago police officials, the chain of events leading to the tragic murders of Jennifer Hudson's three family members began when her sister, Julia, celebrated her 31st birthday on October 23 with cake and a small party at home.

The next morning, Julia's estranged husband William Balfour – booted last February from the house in Chicago where they lived with Julia's mother and 7-year-old son – showed up and spotted a gift he believed came from another man.

That jealousy is the motive that allegedly led Balfour, 27, to return to the house after Julia had left for work and shoot her mother Darnell Donerson, 57, Jennifer's brother Jason, 29, then take Julia's son, 7-year-old Julian King.

He would go on to later kill him as well, prosecutors allege.

Jennifer Hudson and other family members were "relieved and happy" after Balfour was charged December 2 with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of home invasion, Chicago Police Deputy Superintendent Steve Patterson said.

Those family members assisted "every step of the way under very stressful and painful circumstances," adds police Superintendent Jody Weis.

William Balfour Mug Shot, Reloaded

William Balfour's attorney, Joshua Kutnick, says the stormy relationship between William Balfour and Julia Hudson makes his client "a convenient target."

"We are extremely confident that once all of the evidence has come to light and has been tested by our vigorous analysis of the case, that William will be found not guilty," Kutnick said after a judge ordered Balfour held without bail.

But the revelation that gunpowder residue turned up in William Balfour's green Chrysler "is indicative that he fired a handgun," Cook County Assistant State's Attorney LuAnn Snow says. "So yes, there is physical evidence."

In detailing their case against their prime suspect from day one, the police have described a growing tension between William Balfour and Julia Hudson.

Tommy Hilfiger will marry his girlfriend, Dee Ocleppo, Friday night, according to the New York Post, which says it will be a "super-secret" wedding ceremony.

How secret? The only person who will be attending the service at Hilfiger's sprawling Greenwich, Connecticut estate - beside the gorgeous blond bride and preppy fashion designer groom - will be the justice of the peace performing the vows.

Minka Kelly Emmys Dress

Reports that the couple tied the knot already today are untrue.

Tommy Hilfiger has been dating Dee Ocleppo – the ex-wife of 1980s Italian tennis star Gianni Ocleppo - for three years, and gave her an 8.2-carat diamond engagement ring. The two were originally due to wed in August but postponed the event.

Hilifger, 57, has four children from a previous marriage, including Rich Girls' Ally Hilfiger. Dee Ocleppo has two children from her previous marriage, as well.

We brought you their fake wedding album. Now quote-unquote newlyweds Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt are taking their act to How I Met Your Mother.

According to celeb news magazine Us Weekly, the episode (airing January 12) features the two on the cover of a magazine - fittingly titled Them Weekly.

Baby Pratt?!

Eventually, Speidi appears on screen as well, teasing Marshall (Jason Segel) as he searches for a peaceful place to read the magazine at the office.

The same upcoming episode of How I Met Your Mother also features the frequently-naked, guest star twosome of Kendra Wilkinson and Kim Kardashian.

Though she was clothed for a change, Kim Kardashian said, "I had a great time and hope this opens up other opportunities for me in the acting world."

We hope so too, Special KK. We hope so too.
