Randy Quaid and his insane wife Evi Quaid were scheduled to appear in a Santa Barbara, Calif., court Monday morning for their odd B&B-bilking antics.

Naturally, neither of them showed.

The pair of nut jobs, who were arrested in Texas last month, now face extradition from the Lone Star State if they fail to answer the charges in person.

"It was on calendar today to see if they wanted to voluntarily appear," Santa Barbara District Attorney's Office spokesman Lee Carter told E! News.

"They didn't show up. The warrant in California remains outstanding."

Perhaps Evi Quaid was too busy flipping the f*%k out at the cops.

  • Randy Quaid Mug Shot

Still, the dynamic duo isn't wholly unprepared for their legal battle (hiring a new attorney), nor have they completely stonewalled their case's progress.

They've already made good on the outstanding $10,000 bill for their trouble-causing stay at the San Ysidro Ranch, which they were accused of stiffing.

However, the Quaids still need to enter pleas, or reach some plea deal, on three felony charges of burglary, defrauding an innkeeper and conspiracy.

Why haven't they already done this? Because they're bat$h!t crazy?

That, or as Carter puts it, "When the complaint was filed, a California warrant for their arrest was issued. The California warrant then goes into the national system. Texas recognized our warrant and filed their own case."

"When [the Quaids] were arrested, they posted bail and got out of custody on the felony fugitive case [in Texas] but the California warrant is outstanding."

Basically, it's a complicated legal matter and they're bat$h!t crazy.

Actress Mamie Gummer and boyfriend Ben Walker are engaged!

"He proposed two days ago," Gummer, 26, announced Monday in New York at the Whitney Museum of American Arts Gala, noting that he "surprised" her with a custom-made ring. "He did it on one knee!"

Mamie is the daughter of Meryl Streep.

Dating for about a year and a half, Gummer and Walker met working on a short film, and later performed together in Broadway's Les Liasions Dangereuses.

"My mom loves him!" the Taking Woodstock actress gushed.

Mamie Gummer is the second eldest child to multiple Oscar-winner Streep, 60, and her sculptor husband Don Gummer, who have four children together.

"We are very happy!" Gummer said of Walker.

Don't take it from THG - although it's so obvious that you very well could - just ask the L.A. Department of Children and Family Services or the people he shopped reality shows to long before he orchestrated the Balloon Boy hoax.

Richard Heene was reported to CFS by Matt Wineroth in March 2006 for an incident Heene claims Wineroth filed the "erroneous" report over in retaliation.

Retaliation for what? Matt Wineroth was arrested on suspicion of stealing computer records from Heene's company a few years prior. This dude is so shady.

At the end of that drama, Heene's request for a restraining order against Wineroth was eventually dismissed because Richard himself was a no-show in court.

Meanwhile, the CEO of a big production company says Heene lied his way through Hollywood hocking a show that could have put his kids in harm's way.

Tom Forman of Relativity Real and creator of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, says he saw the Heene family on Wife Swap and was "intrigued and aghast."

Pretty much sums up the Balloon Boy saga overall.

Hot Air

Richard Heene is full of more hot air than his flying contraption.

Forman says he spoke with Heene on the phone a month ago to discuss Heene's idea for a reality show about his family - including small kids chasing storms.

Forman says Heene gave his word that he had not pitched the show to anyone else. Turns out, just days later, Forman's employees were in a meeting with TLC about another show and they raised the Heene same reality TV show proposal.

The TLC folks said not only had Heene pitched the show to them a week earlier, he flew to L.A. to personally make the sell, totally playing multiple sides.

Forman says Heene is a "liar" and told him never to contact them again.

Richard Heene and accomplices in the Balloon Boy hoax are looking at felony charges for wasting everyone's time and hundreds of thousands of dollars.

It kind makes you want to throw up, too.

As their parents continue to make celebrity gossip headlines, the eight children of Jon and Kate Gosselin are starting to feel the effects of all the stress.

Wow, there's a shocker. Thank goodness Jon had that epiphany and decided he would pull the plug on their reality show (completely selflessly, of course).

In a new article in Vanity Fair, Kate says the kids are "acting out" lately – but she is hopeful it's a phase that will pass as the kids adjust to the divorce.

"I'm trying to give them the grace to see, if they’re acting out of line, I'm trying to look deeper into why that is," the mulleted one tells the magazine.

"I am so emotionally spent. Why are the kids acting out? 'Cause it’s all inter-related. I mean, they don’t see it that way, but it’s all interconnected."

All this? Making eight small children upset? You're joking.

Referring to her estranged, douchebag ex, destitute Kate says, "They miss him. They say they miss him. I imagine they say the same thing when I'm away."

Not only are the kids hurting without their parents together, Kate said that the demise of their hit show Jon & Kate Plus 8 has caused nothing but heartache.

Jon objected to his kids being filmed ... conveniently after TLC announced plans to relaunch the show as simply Kate Plus 8, with little or no Jon featured.

TLC has turned around and sued Jon for breach of contract.

Kate's summation of the children's reaction to Jon's move:

"Over the weekend I told [the kids] that we're not filming. And actually, times eight, there was wailing and sobbing. They love our crew, they love the interaction."

"There is nothing harmful about it. They are angry."

Whose side are you on?

How lucky are we that the same celebrity style was recently rocked in frocks on the gorgeous frames of Whitney Port, Diane Kruger and Emma Watson?

Quite.

The actresses (we're not calling The City a reality show anymore, it's just not possible) added graphic appeal to their dresses with heavy black piping.

Obviously, when you bring together three young beauties like this, there can be no incorrect response. But whose look do you like best? Vote below!

Whit, Diane and Emma

Whose dress is best?

According to Nashville, Tenn., police, Leah Ignagni was dating the late NFL star Steve McNair at the time of his July 4 murder at the hands of lover Sahel Kazemi.

The other other woman recalled seeing a woman in a black Cadillac Escalade parked outside his condo 2-3 weeks before his murder. It is not clear who owns it.

However, Leah Ignagni also said the woman followed her and that she later saw the Escalade circling her block or parked outside her apartment 1-2 weeks later.

A 2007 black Escalade was co-registered to Sahel Kazemi and Steve McNair.

This backs up earlier case details that stated Kazemi was suspicious of McNair being involved with someone else. McNair was also married and had children.

Steve McNair mistresses Leah Ignagni, left, and Sahel Kazemi.

Leah Ignagni told police that McNair visited her around 4 a.m. on July 2, just a couple of hours after Kazemi's DUI arrest, and then the former Tennessee Titans star spent the night at Ignagni's apartment before leaving early July 3.

If this is to be believed, Steve McNair went to Leah Ignagni's house after he got Sahel Kazemi out of jail, which may have been the catalyst for her  murdering McNair then turning the gun on herself in the grisly murder-suicide.

Another theory was that McNair was about to break things off with Kazemi, who wanted to marry McNair, who was unwilling to end his marriage to wife Mechelle.

As for Leah Ignagni, she's still living in Nashville, just a footnote in a cautionary tale and one of the most tragic stories in a year full of them.

Before being busted for DUI, Stephanie Pratt was best known for:

  1. Being really annoying on MTV's The Hills.
  2. Having her face botched by bad plastic surgery.

The latter is the subject of a new spoof by Funny or Die, in which the irksome, useless sister of Spencer Pratt hosts a faux plastic surgery party.

Much as we can appreciate mocking this, and have to give Stephanie credit for appearing in it, it's not really all that funny. Not at all, in fact.

Check it out below and see if you agree ...

The year 2009 is pretty much synonymous with celebrity deaths. Okay, that's not true in the least. But you have to admit, there have been a surprising number.

The way Lindsay Lohan is acting lately, one has to wonder if she's trying to become the latest casualty. If Michael Lohan is clued in, it's gotta be getting bad.

You know you have a drinking problem when the only events interrupting your raging partying schedule are court dates for your past DUI infractions. Yeesh.

We've seen this before with Britney Spears, who made a miraculous comeback after spiraling out of control in 2007. Now Lindsay has taken Britney's #2 spot.

The spot behind Amy Winehouse in The Hollywood Gossip's death pool, that is. A-Dubs remains the odds-on favorite, but LiLo's coming on fast and furious!

Given their lifestyles and frail states, Lindsay and Amy are both strong candidates to leave us at any moment. Who do you think will last longer? Vote below!

Rehab Regular

Lindsay is just 23 and Amy only 26. Both look like they're pushing 45.

Who will live longer?

The Heene family, accused of perpetrating the Balloon Boy hoax to promote a reality show, are looking at some serious criminal charges this week or next.

The couple's lawyer, David Lane, expects charges to be filed by Wednesday, and says the Heenes will themselves in to avoid the spectacle of a public arrest.

Ironic that Richard Heene does not want a public spectacle this time.

Sheriff Jim Alderden wants to charge Richard and Mayumi Heene with felonies and says the hoax was two weeks in the planning and a marketing ploy.

They're also hunting for any accomplices who helped the Heenes.

"We certainly know that there's a conspiracy between the husband and wife, and you've probably seen some of the e-mails and some of the things on the Internet suggesting that there may be other conspirators involved," Alderden said.

A man named Robert Thomas claims he worked for Richard Heene and helped plan the Balloon Boy stunt. Police are also investigating an unnamed media outlet that agreed to pay money to the Heenes with regard to the incident.

Richard Heene could be out many thousands of dollars before this is over.

Also helping the cops' case? A profile Heene posted on RealityWanted.com, hocking himself to casting agents and producers as the next big reality star.

Heene created his profile on September 28, 2009.

While Richard describes himself as a scientist, a contractor, high school educated, married, with children, male, and straight, he didn't make a specific pitch for any specific show. Could that be because his big idea was this hoax?

Also, police have learned that Richard Heene has a criminal record in L.A. and was sentenced to jail in April 1997 and charged with misdemeanor vandalism, vehicle tampering, and disturbing the peace. The victim's name is not known.

The national media frenzy began last Thursday afternoon when Falcon Heene, 6, was believed to be carried off inside a giant, homemade helium balloon.

The National Guard tried to rescue Falcon via helicopter and a search was conducted after the empty balloon landed - under the assumption he fell out.

Turns out Falcon was at his house the whole time. Rumors of a hoax popped up 10 seconds later, and Falcon basically confirmed as much on Larry King.

Testifying at Howard K. Stern's preliminary hearing Monday, Larry Birkhead was asked if a prosecutor in the case tried to unfairly influence his testimony.

During cross examination, Ellyn Garafalo, a lawyer for Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, who is on trial along with Stern and Dr. Khristine Eroshevich on 23 felony counts related to the death of Anna Nicole Smith, asked Birkhead some interesting questions.

Namely, Garafalo asked if Deputy D.A. Sarah Slice cornered him in the hall last Friday and accused him of taking Howard K. Stern's side when he testified.

Larry Birkhead said the conversation did take place and he felt chastised.

Birkhead testified Slice suggested something was developmentally wrong with his daughter Dannielynn because of Anna Nicole Smith's history of drug use.

Outside court, Birkhead said Dannielynn was not only fine, some doctors have told him she's advanced for her age. She sure seems happy and adorable ...

Birkhead, Baby!

As we reported last week, Birkhead was highly critical of Stern in the wake of Smith's death, but the two later resolved their differences and get along well.

Perhaps to establish his motives, whatever they are, Birkhead was then asked what he makes from media outlets. He testified he's raked in about $2 million.

One can assume, given that statement, that he has been paid money to appear in photos and magazine articles with Dannielynn. Not judging, just saying.

It's all subject to your own interpretation. Some might say that makes him a horrible, exploitive father. Others might not. Hey, THG reports, you criticize!

The prosecutor was then asking about reality shows, until the judge jumped in ... "I don't care about that unless it has to do with a balloon or something."

No word on whether Larry's gonna be on Millionaire Matchmaker.
