Dharun Ravi Sentenced to 30 Days in Jail For Role in Tyler Clementi Suicide
One-time Rutgers student Dharun Ravi was sentenced Monday to 30 days in jail for his role in the suicide of his former roommate, Tyler Clementi.
Ravi was found guilty of invasion of privacy and hate crimes in March.
The 20-year-old did not speak at his sentencing this morning. He will begin serving jail time May 31. Ravi cried as his mother spoke in court.
"The media was ripping him apart with their misleading facts ... He was absolutely devastated and broken into pieces,” Sabitha Ravi pleaded.

"I do not believe he hated Tyler Clementi," Judge Glenn Berman told the packed courtroom in announcing his decision. "He had no reason to."
"But, I do believe he acted out of colossal insensitivity."
Dharun Ravi was convicted of bias intimidation, witness tampering, hindering arrest and numerous other charges in connection with the case.
This all stemmed from his role in using a webcam to observe Clementi's date with a man in their dorm room in 2010, then Tweeting about it.
Ravi (above, left) Tweeted about what he'd witnessed and invited others to watch Clementi (above, right) make out with his male love interest.
That man's name has not been revealed.
Prosecutors said Ravi was motivated by a hatred. Ravi consistently has denied hatred of gays. In any case, Tyler Clementi killed himself.
Kelly Clarkson Shows Off Thinner Figure, Performs at 2012 Billboard Music Awards
Not that she wasn't prety to begin with, but Kelly Clarkson is looking great these days, showing off a slim, toned physique at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards.
The original American Idol took the stage with a sexier look than we're used to seeing, making her performance of "Dark Side" even more memorable.
Kelly also has a new reality show coming out, Duets, and a recent tour that may have contributed to her weight loss. Whatever it is, bravo, girl!
Take a look at her performance below and see for yourself:
Priscilla Chan Wedding Dress: Details Revealed!
While Mark Zuckerberg was taking Facebook public, his longtime girlfriend Priscilla Chan was quietly putting the final touches on her wedding gown.
In a surprise relationship status update, Zuckerberg and Chan married Saturday in a small, unannounced ceremony at their home in Palo Alto, Calif.
The bride looked stunning in Claire Pettibone’s “Sky Between the Branches” gown, an ivory laser-cut floral dress with matte sequins lined in silk.
The gown featured subtle cutouts in the overlay, plus an illusion jewel neckline, sheer back and chapel-length train. Chan's dress retails for $4,700.
Pettibone, a Los Angeles-based designer, has also created wedding dresses for stars like Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss and American Idol's Tamyra Gray.
Guests thought they were merely coming over for a surprise party to celebrate Chan’s graduation from medical school at the University of California.
However, the couple, who met at Harvard more than nine years ago, had been planning the low-key wedding for more than four months.
Given that Facebook stock is already down $4 today, at least Mark has something to smile about ... well that and being worth tens of billions.
Congratulations to the newlyweds again!

Chris Brown Performs at Billboard Music Awards; Fans Divided Over Obvious Lip-Syncing
Chris Brown brought his BMX skills to the Billboard Music Awards Sunday.
His vocal skills? Mmmnot so much, from the looks of the performance.
The singer rode onstage in Las Vegas to perform his high-energy hit "Turn Up the Music" against a colorful, bike ramp backdrop dubbed the "Fun Zone."
Breezy's leopard fur-lined jacket (open to show off his muscular, tattooed chest, obvi) and impressive dance moves wowed the crowd, but his singing?
Fans on Twitter were disappointed, at least in part, for Chris' lip-syncing.
Some viewers tweeted sentiments like, "What's the point of performing live if you're gonna lip sync? You should just become a back up dancer."
"I don't mind Chris Brown lip synching... at least he PERFORMS !!!" wrote one fan in defense of Chris. "CB performance never disappoints."
The event, which also featured Justin Bieber's performance and Jordin Sparks' tribute to Whitney Houston, certainly featured the big names.
What do you think of Chris' performance? Thumbs up or down?
Did President Obama Lie About Being Born in Kenya?
A year after he put "birther" rumors to rest by releasing his birth certificate, President Obama's background is back in the news again ... with a twist.
An old bio of Obama from his former literary agent says he was born in Kenya, renewing debate over the authenticity of his own account(s) of his past.
You could essentially call this "reverse birtherism."
In 2011, Obama proved he was born in the U.S., but did he lie in the past about being Kenyan-born to craft a more exotic, interesting-sounding background?
According to a booklet produced by Acton & Dystel, to showcase its roster of writers, Obama was "born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii."
Obama's former literary agency says they merely misidentified his birthplace as Kenya while trying to promote the then-Harvard Law grad in 1991.
Miriam Goderich edited the text of the bio; she is now a partner at the Dystel & Goderich agency, which lists Obama as one of its current clients.
"This was nothing more than a fact checking error by me - an agency assistant at the time," Goderich wrote in an emailed statement to Yahoo News.
"There was never any information given to us by Obama suggesting he was born in Kenya and not Hawaii ... [it was] a simple mistake and nothing more."
Breitbart.com, the site founded by the late Andrew Breitbart, broke this story as part of "The Vetting," its ongoing series about Obama's past.
Justin Bieber Performs "Boyfriend" at Billboard Music Awards
The 2012 Billboard Music Awards were in full swing Sunday night, with Justin Bieber among the music mega-stars hand to perform in Las Vegas.
Biebs became the first name on the list of Billboard Music Award winners, taking home Top Social Artist honors and addressing his many fans.
JB went on to perform his new hit song “Boyfriend.” Watch below!
"I just want to say how much of a blessing it's been... the past three or four years, growing up in front of everybody,” Justin said emotionally.
“I want to thank all my fans worldwide, because the Internet is where I got my start, and all my fans have helped me get to this position."
Modern Family star and BMA co-host Julie Bowen asked the audience to pay their respects to Robin Gibb, the Bee Gees member who died Sunday.
Other performances honored the late Adam "MCA" Yauch, Queen of Disco Donna Summer, and of course Jordin Sparks' tribute to Whitney Houston.
Emily Maynard: Sort of Dissed By Brad Womack!
The Bachelorette star Emily Maynard was apparently just dissed by her former fiance, Brad Womack, in a recent interview he gave. What did the guy say?
Asked about the 26-year-old single mother by his hometown ABC station, Brad allegedly said: “I think I dodged a bullet with that relationship.”
Yeah. If that's true, really not cool Brad.
Good thing Emily Maynard has a whole new group of guys to choose from on the new season of The Bachelorette, since Brad clearly wasn't The One.
Who will she choose now that she's the one doling out the roses for the ABC reality franchise, which airs tonight? That's yet to be determined.
The Bachelorette spoilers we've read and posted so far hint at some of the serious contenders, however, so check out that page if you're curious!

Jenna Talackova Falls Short of Miss Universe Canada Crown, Named Miss Congeniality
Transgender Canadian beauty queen Jenna Talackova turned heads in a bikini and placed in the top 12 at the Miss Universe Canada pageant this weekend.
The 6-foot-1 blonde bombshell was a crowd favorite, even though she fell short of the Miss Canada crown and entry into the Miss Universe competition.
Born Walter Talackova, Jenna also seemed to be a favorite among her fellow contestants and was one of four women voted “Miss Congeniality.”
The 23-year-old was originally disqualified from the competition because she was not a “naturally born female,” but ultimately allowed back in.
After threats of a lawsuit and public outcry, the Trump Organization, which owns the contest, announced Talackova would be allowed to compete.
“I didn’t know that there would be this much controversy. I was just entering because, you know, I wanted to represent Canada," Talackova said.
Adding that she was born in the wrong body, Jenna added, "I think I’m a beautiful woman, inside and out. I think I would have done the job.”
Gotta give her credit for trying and conducting herself with class. Take a look at some photos of Jenna modeling at the Miss Canada pageant below:
