As the entire free world knows by now, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are getting divorced.

The actress filed official papers on September 19, four days after she says the couple separated and five days after Pitt’s alleged meltdown aboard a private plane.

In the days since, the public has pretty much invented reactions from Jennifer Aniston.

To wit:

One tabloid claims Aniston referred to the breakup of her ex-husband and his second wife as "karma," but we have some pretty serious questions over the validity of that report.

So, okay. Whatever.

Maybe Jennifer Aniston reacted in some way to the Jolie-Pitt divorce and maybe she did not.

But Mr. Jennifer Aniston most definitely has.

"As a child of divorce, all I can say is that’s terrible news for those children and that’s all you can really say," Justin Theroux told Business Insider yesterday during a press tour for his new film The Girl on the Train, which comes out on October 7.

First, what a perfect, classy response.

Second, someone actually asked Justin Theroux about the Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie divorce?!?

Yes, Theroux’s wife was married to Pitt for five years before their divorce in 2005.

But that was over 11 years ago.

Theroux was doing publicity here as part of his job and a reporter actually delved deeply into his personal life?

We don’t know the context of the question, granted, but it’s stunningly unprofessional to bring up Theroux’s marriage in any way.

Pitt and Jolie – who got married in 2014 after a decade of dating – have six children together: Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and 8-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

They grew close on the set of the movie Mr. & Mrs. Smith, prompting Pitt to eventually file for divorce from Aniston.

It was the scandal of the century back when it happened, despite no evidence and no admission from anyone that Pitt actually cheated on Aniston.

The former Friends actress has since moved very much on, marrying Theroux and seemingly remaining on good terms with Pitt.

And yet celebrity gossip outlets and tabloid magazine can’t stop associating Aniston with Pitt, even after all this time. It’s pretty amazing, really.

"It’s boring to sort of comment on anything else," Theroux added of the Brangelina split. "People are having a bad time. That’s horrible.

Yes it is.

Especially when you consider that there are children at the center of all of this and that Jolie is seeking full physical custody.

What will their lives be in the wake of their parents getting a divorce? How much will they see their dad?

No one is asking these questions because everyone is too fixated on a different divorce from an entirely different decade.

It’s pretty crazy and depressing when you look at it that way.

We mean… a national newspaper actually ran this photo on its front page last week:

What the heck is wrong with people?!?
