Selena Gomez just totally won New York Fashion Week. Here is what we mean:

According to various reports, conversations related to the event (or #NYFW in social media parlance) reached over 6.6 billion people across Twitter and Instagram between September 10 and September 15.

Heck, Instagram posts with the hashtags “#NYFW” and/or “#NYFW15” garnered 37 million Likes on Saturday alone.

Of all those photos and all those messages, however, none received more positive feedback than the one featured here of Selena Gomez.

Snapped at a Ralph Lauren-sponsored event, the image has received 1.5 million Likes and over 15,000 comments, making it the photo with the most engagement in relation to this week-long gathering in The Big Apple.

As a comparison point, Kendall Jenner shared a photo of herself walking the runway at Givenchy, yet this post "only" captured 1.1 million Likes. 

This all may seem a tad silly… and, in some respects, it is.

But it would also be silly to underestimate the power of social media when it comes to marketing – and with Gomez’s new album set for an October 9 release date, it’s safe to say this bodes well for sales.
