Rumors of a Beetlejuice sequel have been circulating for years, but despite interest from director Tim Burton and star Michael Keaton, it was starting to seem one of those dream projects that would simply never materialize.

Fortunately, it looks as though someone uttered the Ghost with the Most’s name three times, because according to Winona Ryder, the underworld’s biggest sleazebag will be returning to theaters sometime in the near future.

Ryder confirmed the news during a sit-down with Seth Meyers last night, claiming that she found out about the sequel (and her involvement in it) by watching an interview with Burton on TV.

She also told an amusing tale about how the movie has affected her trips through airport security.

Here’s hoping we’ll once again get to see Winona dance to Harry Belafonte with the ghosts of a departed football team sometime very soon.
