We’ve documented plenty of memorable obituaries over the past several months.

There was the scathing message for a deceased woman left by her abused daughter.

There was that time a Delaware man wrote his own obituary not long before passing on.

And there was the woman who felt a need to proclaim Tom Brady’s innocence to anyone reading her a fond farewell.

But North Dakota newspaper The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead has now ran what has to be the shortest obituary ever published.

As you can see above, it is two words in length and it gets right to the point when it comes to resident Douglas Legler, reading:

Doug died.

They do say the best writing takes place when one can say the most with the least number of words, dont’ they?

"He said over and over, when I die I want my obituary to just say ‘Doug Died,’” daughter Janet Stoll told the publication, adding:

"[Other people’s obituaries] would say ‘he was the president of this, a director of this’ and Dad would say, ‘What, couldn’t they hold down a job?’"

Legler worked as a driver for the Nash Finch Company; loved cars; and also was a fan of country music.

But anyone interested in the latest information about him only needs to know one thing: Doug died.

May he rest in peace.
