"It is with broken hearts that Hallie, Hunter, Ashley, Jill and I announce the passing of our husband, brother and son, Beau, after he battled brain cancer with the same integrity, courage and strength he demonstrated every day of his life.

"The entire Biden family is saddened beyond words."

"We know that Beau’s spirit will live on in all of us – especially through his brave wife, Hallie, and two remarkable children, Natalie and Hunter."

Biden was hospitalized last week for "an episode of disorientation and weakness."

His doctors stated that they expected him to make a full recovery, however.

An attorney, veteran of the Iraq War, and former attorney general for the state of Delaware, Biden had intended to run for governor of his home state in the upcoming 2016 election.

Our thoughts go out to his family at this incredibly difficult time, and to the loved ones and friends of all the celebrities that we’ve lost in 2015:
