Comedian and activist Roseanne Barr has a lot to say to the media. But, sadly, in her recent report to The Daily Beast, Barr has nothing funny to report.
Instead, the 62-year-old admits she is suffering from glaucoma and macular degeneration, which will ultimately cause blindness.
The actress, most well-known for her 90s sitcom Roseanne, is already experiencing changes in her vision.
Referring to her narrowing vision, she says, “It’s something weird. But there are other weird things.”
She adds, “That one’s harsh, ’cause I read a lot, and then I thought, ‘Well, I guess I could hire somebody to read for me and read to me.’"
"But I like words and I like looking. You do what you have to do. I just try and enjoy vision as much as possible – y’know, living it up. My dad had it, too."
Roseanne has been outspoken about her marijuana use. But rather than using it recreationally, now it is helping ease the pressure from the glaucoma.
"It’s a good medicine for a lot of things," she states.
Despite struggling with losing her vision, the actress and onetime presidential candidate has a lot to say about the current political climate and the upcoming election.
Roseanne is less than excited about Hilary Clinton’s bid for the presidency.
"I think she’s a Democrat just like they all are," Barr says. "She seems like every other Democrat. I would not like to see her win. She’s the same old s–t. I’d like to see me win.”
She also called out the presidential primaries as "just a tactic to prevent government from doing anything about any of our problems” that "just elongates the election process.
"It’s like a traffic jam. That’s how it works: blaming and mudslinging.”
