Mischa Barton has filed a lawsuit against her mother, Nuala Barton, claiming she stole her earnings.

The lawsuit paints a rather ugly picture of Mrs. Barton as a "greedy stage mother."

Mischa’s lawyer, Alex Weingarten, confirmed the lawsuit in a statement to Us Weekly, telling the gossip rag:

"This action arises from the tragic tale of a greedy stage mother posing as a talent manager who, instead of acting in the best interest of her daughter/client, schemed to defraud her unsuspecting victim.

"From the outset, Nuala positioned herself to siphon her daughter’s hard-earned money by purportedly acting as her talent manager, a role for which Nuala had absolutely no experience or training."

TMZ elaborates on the detail’s of Mischa’s lawsuit by saying Nuala lied about how much Mischa earned on a film, The Hoarder. Nuala supposedly told Mischa her income was lower that it really was, and then proceeded to take the difference and a 10 percent management fee.

Mischa also claims her mother used her name to create a handbag line and open a boutique in London, but didn’t give her any of the profits.

It’s another setback for The O.C. alum who’s been known for her money and sobriety problems rather than her work in recent years.
