The Voice Season 8 Episode 6 brought us more outstanding Battle Round performances and some very tough calls for the four celebrity coaches.
Lets break down all the make or break duets from Tuesday …
Ameera Delandro vs. Sonic (Team Christina): Aguilera had the two take on "Masterpiece" by Jessie J, a track with both empowerment and dynamism.
Both powerhouse voices channeled those themes and then some, and brought stage presence to match, making for a tough, tough call for any coach.
Aguilera picks Sonic as the winner, bidding Delandro goodbye.
Anthony Riley vs. Travis Ewing (Team Pharrell): Both brought their best stuff in a rendition of "Get Ready" by The Temptations, but Riley got the nod.
Fortunately, Ewing impressed Blake enough to earn a steal!
Hannah Kirby vs. Sarah Potenza (Team Blake): Shelton’s selection of "Gimme Shelter" by The Rolling Stones favored Potenza and her big rocker voice.
Kirby was not about to be outdone, however.
Shelton, predictably, picks Potenza, but Kirby was so impressive that Pharrell and Adam both went in for the steal, and she went with Team Pharrell.
Blaze Johnson vs. Michael Leier (Team Adam): Not as easy as you might think, Levine’s choice of "Rude" by Magic! caused both guys some problems.
They improved a lot from rehearsals to the actual battle, however, which shows how neat this process is. Oh, and Levine declared Johnson the winner.
Cody Wickline vs. Matt Snook (Team Blake): "How Country Feels" by Randy Houser made for a great country battle from two guys who look and sound the part.
Shelton praised both, but picked Cody.
Meghan Linsey vs. Paul Pfau (Team Pharrell): A classic song – "Don’t Let Me Down" by The Beatles – led to a classic battle from Pharrell’s proteges.
Always one to put together the best performance even if it means cutting loose obvious talent, he did so again this time as he crowned Pfau the winner.
Linsey immediately prompted the ever-rate three-way steal, and Blake Shelton – who didn’t turn around for her during the Blinds – has her on board now.
That battles were predictably close and entertaining. Do you think the coaches made the right decisions? Hit the comments below and let us know!
